Not only do you see the Amano painting from Versus in the scans, but it looks like Luna and Nyx are recreating the party scene between Nocto and Stella.

Maybe Nyx will be Luna's Zack! Somehow I really want Luna to not reciprocate Noctis' feelings.

If Luna looked like that in the game I bet no one would be missing Stella.

By the time, it was announced that Stella was canned, I was already over her. I had prepared myself for the worst several months prior.

Anyways, I do prefer Luna's design in the movie over how she looks in-game. I like how Luna looks older and her dress is absolutely breathtaking. I hope she'll wear it at some point in-game.

I kinda wish Noctis and Luna don't actually don romantic feelings, even if they're betrothed childhood acquaintances who might even care for each other. Would make for an interesting dynamic.

Isn't it the opposite actually?
Iirc it's actually Luna who has feelings, but is Noct that doesn't necessarily reciprocate them.

Yep, they said that in an interview I think, that Luna has feelings for Noctis but he doesn't have the confidence to return them.

I liked Noctis and Stella in Versus. Need to see more of Noctis and Luna. Don't know why there is so little of it when Versus highlighted the importance of these two characters.

It's like they are shying away from a female relationship in this game, or at least not even focusing on it like it was in Versus. I don't like that tbh, Tabata even said that we'd usually be like one step behind Luna, but never really get to her.

It's always about execution. I don't think a political marriage is a bad angle to take. At least Nomura originally didn't want romance to play too essential a role in FFVsXIII (the friendship angle has always been the biggest focus of the game). Though with the chance to a mainline game and with changes made to the story, SQEX might've pushed it to become a more central thing to capture that certain audience who think two attractive protagonists of opposite genders that are pushed to spend time with each other in a game should always develop into a romance. Or something. But if Nomura's original intent to somewhat downplay romance still holds true in Tabata's FFXV and they are still following Nomura + Nojima's original script in a sense that Luna's romance with Noctis remains of similar downplayed-ish stature as Stella's was possibly in earlier drafts of the story, the potential romance between Noctis & Luna might be a bit less central than something like Squall <3 Rinoa or Tidus <3 Yuna. If that's the case, the romance will still be there, but not necessarily as something that will be a major driving force behind the story.

I don't remember that??

I would definitely be okay with romance being left out of the game for the most part for the majority of the game. Noctis can grow emotionally throughout the story and gain more confidence, then by the end of the game, him and Luna could get together naturally without it feeling like an awkward and forced arranged marriage.

I don't think the FFX type of romance really fits with XV. Seems like they may avoid some of that JRPG cheesiness.

Well said, unless he dies at the end, then we'll never get to see it happen.

I want Noctis to be like Geralt... from one bed to the next!
With boys of course! Luna can forget about him for what I care >.<

I'm sure there will be some deaths but I kinda doubt it will be the main character. I hope not, anyway!

Between Noctis and Luna, I can't decide which death would be more upsetting.

From the beginning, they have said that Noctis is shy but tries to hide that behind a quiet cool-guy exterior. But in sure they will have his character develop throught the game.

From Wikipedia but it's legit and still applies to the game now:

Noctis is shy, but tries to hide it by "acting cool". According to former director Tetsuya Nomura, Noctis will not have the "Cloud-like" personality, but he will be a new type of character for the series, one which Nomura had wanted to try out for a long time. Nomura said Noctis will have a strong and distinctive personality, rather than being silent and gloomy. In a Dengeki interview, Nomura explained Noctis is an ordinary young man who acts tough because he feels it is his duty to protect his kingdom and its citizens. As a result, he sometimes acts rashly or overestimates his strength.

being shy is fine, it's the too shy to reciprocate feelings part i don't care for.

You can't deny there was far more focus on Noctis and Stella in Versus, especially their relationship: we saw them fighting several times. Is that still going to be in FFXV? Doubt it. I can't help but feel Stella's role has been reduced in the transition to Luna.

Well, first of all, we never really saw the two fight. At worst we saw them about to start fighting but we never actually saw them cross swords. The longest interaction they had that we saw was a friendly one at the peace treaty party and then by E3 2013 & turning into FFXV, they were actually childhood friends/acquaintances (which has carried over to Luna). When talking about the game, Nomura put more emphasis on the road trip & friendship motifs as the focus of the game and I don't remember if he ever really gave too much input about the possible romantic side of Noctis & Stella's relationship in the game, apart from the more general comments about how romance isn't necessarily a huge focus for the game. He might've commented on it if someone asked, but it's not something he emphasized with the two.

And sure, Stella was used quite a lot in old Versus trailers but I think her importance got a bit inflated because they basically kept reusing the same trailer (with bits & pieces added) for years due to wheels spinning on the project and because all the trailers mostly showed stuff from the first hour or two of the beginning of the story, where Stella gets introduced & gave a bit of exposition about the mythology of the world, and because it happened at a time when there probably weren't a whole lot of characters designed & fleshed out enough that they could be shown in a trailer.

Not that Stella was fully fleshed either, but it's probably good for marketing too, to have a striking female character opposing the main male protagonist in a possibly non-villainous-but-(initially-)not-quite-friendly-either role. So that made her seem like she was the second most important character of the game or something, when she necessarily wasn't meant to be quite so central to the game. A big part, but not *insert-awkward-laugh-scenes-into-the-game-just-to-develop-their-relationship* big. That said, I see that the possible romance angle was possibly inflated in the move to the game turning into a mainline entry. Even in the E3 2013 trailer suddenly Stella was a childhood friend/acquaintance & much clearer love interest and not a stranger & possible "fated rival" like she was juxtapositioned as in the early trailers, in my eyes.

Does the collectors and deluxe edition not come with a physical copy of the movie?

The deluxe edition comes with a digital copy of the film I believe, meanwhile, the ultimate collector's edition comes with a physical copy. You can also consider the Kingsglaive edition which comes with a physical copy of the anime, the film and game.

The deluxe comes with a blu ray.

Sorry, I meant an individual bluray release. Over a bundle with the game.

We actually never saw them fight, we just saw them draw swords on each other and only once. The only other scene we saw of Stella was just them meeting for the first time and briefly talking. They showed that scene in three separate trailers probably because they had nothing else done.

We've seen more of Noctis and Cidney in scenes than we ever did of Stella.

Do people really think that after they drew their swords they don't fight?

What makes you think that they dont? It was always implied it was a rivalry and they had like equal power/strength of sorts.

People don't KNOW anything, they can only assume and because THAT game will never be made, they can keep assuming. There IS nothing more to Stella that just that. I'm sure Nomura and Nojima know more about what was in store for Stella, but they aren't telling and that's pretty much the end of it regarding that chapter.

One has to wonder how much of this bloated, beefed up vision of Stella is, in fact, based on every article and piece of footage released, and how much of it is based on fan expectations, personal interpretation and nostalgia that has grown to ridiculous size year after year.

I was addressing Psycho_Mantis's point about us seeing them fight several times, even though we never once saw them fight.

Someone was saying the voice actress was cross-listed for XV and Kingsglaive I thought....

I'm hoping for a reasonable number of guest characters in XV, and she'd be a nice addition.

Really? I hope you're right. She seems like a very cool addition.

Being Noctis' rival already gave her a prominent role in the story even if the trailers only focused on a few scenes. Its also worth noting, that she was more of an unfortunate enemy, opposing under forced circumstances. We know that role had been completely changed hence introducing Luna. While there are some similarities, the biggest difference is the aspect of Stella that was the most advertised and renown: her rivalry. The juxtaposition was far more captivating than what we have seen between Luna and Noctis.

Your second gif btw isn't Stella, it was confirmed to be a blonde hooded man probably the same one from the E3 2013 trailer talking about how everything is ever changing.

I think people don't understand Stellas importance/downplay her and really tend to undermine the fact at the time, we knew that only her and Noctis could see the light therefore were the only two who we knew had these special abilities in the first place.

I 100% believe that they were fated rivals because of the political positions they were in, but before Stella wasn't a Princess/Oracle, she was just a stranger to the prince, but was against Lucis and I think a lot here like that idea.
Tabata also downplays her and actually says that instead Luna was strong and Stella was weak, but in what sense?

He probably means that Luna is stronger than Stella politically, not that shes a skilled fighter because I do not get the vibe at all that Luna knows how to fight.
That picture at the end of episode Duscae itself just shows that she doesn't know how to defend her self as she manages to escape Lucis and she even has Gentiana as a body guard of sorts.

One thing I can really think of though is, it is confirmed that basically all the other nations at this point are united under the Niflhiem banner. Luna is working with Niflhiem, everyone tells Noctis to go to Altissia for the wedding, but Luna isn't there shes over at Lucis during the movie and Noctis is basically lied to by both his Dad and Niflheim and Luna basically agrees on for what purpose though? If I were Noctis I'd be pretty pissed and feel like I got played.

We can't overrule the chances that, Noctis somehow turning on Luna isn't a possibility they've only shown early parts of the game and it is a 50 hour long journey.

You guys are making a lot of assumptions about a deleted character that we barely knew anything about. You are making up fan fiction about what Stella was and wasn't. If Tabata says Luna is a stronger, more relevant character than Stella, why do we assume we have more info than him?

Yeah. The fact is, Tabata and other people who actually have access to the original Versus script thought that Stella's character made no sense when they decided to make XV instead of a trilogy or whatever Versus was supposed to be. They had to change the script and modify characters to suit it.

We don't know if Versus even had a complete story, or if it was just a few bullet points on Nomura's napkin.

Exactly. I find it hilarious that people think Tabata deleted a character that was super relevant and that was actually working perfectly in the story. Developers don't do that. If they consider a character is not working, or is not relevant enough, they may redesign it or delete it completely, regardless of how "cool" the character looked in trailers.

Distrust, most likely. People perceive it as public damage control to the changes made in FFv13

Though imo, the concept of the game's heroine being (perhaps) a reluctant antagonist (or enemy) to/of the main character appeals to me more than childhood friends being wedded for political reasons (with some "complications in their relationship.") What remains to be seen is that if Stella was really as interesting as she seemed she was in the game or if she was, as someone said, just bullet points in Nomura's napkin.

That said, does anyone feel Luna's design overdone? I hated how she tied her hair up (the fancy braiding and everything) and now that dress in Kingsglaive? I like how simple the other heroine's design is, for example.

Other than that, this movie looks ace. Do we have a release date for online release yet?

I think it's pretty clear as day if you have been following Versus since day one you should know, Tabata never really recaptures the Versus vibe that Nomura left off.

XV looks great but none of the Tabata era trailers have really lived up to the E3 2013 trailer or the ones before it, and it's not just me saying that.

Many people on this forum and else where on the internet tend to say this pretty often, not sure about you.

I do think it is distrust, that it was just PR speak to calm people down, and I never believed it it for a second. Stellas concept was way more appealing,
Also yes I feel Lunas design is kind of overdone, but I think at somepoints in the game she may change her clothes/loosen her hair

I've been following Versus since day 1, and it has been my most awaited game for the last 10 years.

Believing to know more about a deleted character than the game's director and staff is ridiculous to say the least.

Like I said, I don't think I know more than Tabata or the devs at square.

But him defending Luna replacing Stella was straight PR and everything we have actually seen doesn't come off as "strong". In fact the Dawn trailer was his poor way of catering to Versus fans by showing us something "dark". He just doesn't quite get it.

If square were brave, they would tell us the whole thing sometime. Otherwise, why hide it?

Yup even the Uncovered trailer while a step up from past Tabata directed trailers was still not as good as the E3 2013. I just feel the trailers have been missing an artistic vision compared to the Nomura trailers.
