How excited are you about gameplay changing loot crates (maybe w/ microtransactions)?

Maybe this is what FGs need to become more mainstream. Winning over casual and rpg players are essential for this process. And that's what NRS is trying to do. Catering to competitive crowd don't pay the bills and Catering to casuals do. NRS is more than happy to lose the 10 people that play their game competitively to win 5 million+ casuals.

FGC is just niche. It has never broken out, I don't know if it's ever going to. NR is probably doing the right move catering to the casual fans, financially speaking. SFV is what happens when you do the opposite.

And as long as they probably have a "Vanilla mode", the FGC side will probably be taken care of, too.

But yeah, of course NRS knows how they make their games make money. And that's with a lot of content and plenty of stuff to give that side of the aisle something to do, too.

I don't agree, SFV didn't even have all the features its predecessor had in terms of building a competitive base like online training nor features in other games in the genre like interactive tutorials. That said, NRS knows where their bread is buttered, as the casual community ate up games like MK vs DC

Batman Beyond
armor towards the end?

For just $19.99 you can buy enough Injustice Funbucks ™ to buy the iconic Batbot armor. Use the batbot armors higher attack and defense values to dominate your friends online and return order to the streets of gotham*.

* Streets of Gotham DLC sold separately.

No PC version and some PC players are fine with it. I honestly don't understand either position.

It's a pity, because I loved the first Injustice on PC and I will not buy a console. So, for what it's worth, WB can consider me as a sale truly lost.

My first thought was the Hellbat Armor, though I don't think it's really either:

They probably pulled out on PC because the last few games from WB on PC have been nothing short of abysmal.

They've established a concerned audience there. Ruining the game with microtransactions would all but assure they're not getting goodwill there.

If they announced they were using Nixes or Bluepoint to do the port then I think people would have a lot more faith and less virtriol on a PC version being announced. Instead, after using the two most shittiest porting teams ever they decided to give up on PC gaming.

Bah CG trailer

Iron Man suits everywhere. Inspired by the BvS movie? Haven't seen it, and I don't read comics so idk.

Wasn't a fan of the character designs in Injustice 1 and these look just as bad. They're not even gonna bother with a PC version? Well done, WB. *slow clap* :p

Character customization stuff that actually affects a character's properties and obtained from randomized loot drops needs to stay the heck out of ranked online.
Customization could aid in retaining a larger playerbase. As long as there are no overy powerful individual pieces it seems like it would be fine. Something like Smash Bros Customs could make some lower tier characters more competitively viable.

Why no PC? Warner Brothers is just the worst.

The second statement probably answers the first question :p

They probably lost a ton of money with the botched Arkham Knight port between the protracted development and post-launch "support" (aka fixing the broken shit) and all the refunds. I'd rather WB get out of the PC game altogether if that's their idea of platform support.

All you motherfuckers arguing about lootdrops, and all I'm wondering is how they managed to get Bryan bloody Cranston involved in this.

What mental gymnastics? He said netcode would be good, it wasn't, but what do you expect the dev to say? It's lip service. You're going "they lied about netcode so why wouldn't they do pay to win?". Neither has anything to do with the other. A better case is easy fatalities/krypt unlock of MKX. Still, you were the one that brought up looking up the interviews and I agreed to you doing that.

right... no mental gymnastics here... just comparing COD netcode to a fighting game as a way to say it's okay for all of NRS' games to have terrible online... yeah... whatever was I thinking...

I just don't see it bringing in and keeping any more players than it would have otherwise. Players are already intimidated by playing fighters online, feeling overwhelmed, and getting beat without all of that stuff. I just don't believe heavy customization is going to make any difference to the casual players. If anything I think it will make it worse. It's just adds another layer of difficulty and frustration on top of the issues that have always plagued fighters. Only now those looking to get farther ahead would look for the most egregious setup to give themselves a bigger advantage.

I do not know if this has already been discussed but does anyone else think that this might not be a 2.5D game? In the Business Wire article, the wordage they use to describe the stages is interesting: "Battles will take place across arenas that have evolved in scale and span across iconic locations such as Metropolis, Gotham City, and Atlantis". The line "arenas that have evolved in scale" makes them sound like 3D environments not 2D. They might be referring to the stage transitions but you cannot really evolve the scale of them when they were pretty ridiculous in IGAU already. If they try to make them even more OTT then they will just become a bore to sit through.

Day 1

I really loved the first one. Getting that 3 stars in every S.T.A.R Labs mission achievement was a pain in the ass but I enjoyed every minute of it. So much fun.

Yeah, when I saw the huge arena thing it made me think that too. I don't really care if it's 3d or 2d I just want them to make the game easier to play for casuals like me who are more into fighters like DBZ Budokai. Go ahead and burn me at the stake.

Being a big budget summer blockbuster, I imagine they managed to pay him a hell of a lot more for that than they could for this.

Since when is he a huge star though?

The arenas in MKX were wider than previous MK games and had interactive areas like Injustice.

So, even wider areas, with more transitions (Injustice only had in some sides) already makes for bigger in scale. Heck, maybe characters that fly can fly a bit too.

Bryan Cranston was James Gordon on Batman Year One and he even said we was impressed by tbe story and would like to be in superhero movies because of that. He been here is not as shocking. :p

It would be mindboggling if there wasnt an online mode with no customization. Boon is smarter than that.

Yeah, Boon seems to be a shrewd businessman that is pretty receptive to his audience. Even if he did plan on implementing some model that could straight up shit the bed for competitive play (no one knows yet), I'd be very surprised if he were to stubbornly go all-in on it.

You'd be surprised? I think some people don't remember Boon the same way as others....

Excited for the game, yet worried about how the TRON like armor/gear will look.
By gear I was hoping they meant actual different costume pieces from the comics like say Batman Beyonds helmet for Batman, Parralax chest piece for Green Lantern, Impulses Goggles for Flash, etc. Not Green +1 Strength chest armor for Batman.

There's no reason why those things couldn't be part of the loot pool, if they are then you could just use all of the pieces for a perticular set or mix different pieces from different costumes

Can't say I like the look or concept behind with the gear, but I'll hold off judgment until I learn more. I've loved everything NetherRealm has cooked up since MK9, so I have faith.

I never expereienced Armageddon on the Wii, so I guess I don't get the context? I gather that they (probably poorly) shoehorned in motion controls, but was the support for the GC/classic controller equally bad or something?

Of course playing a fighting game with a wiimote was a terrible experience- didn't stop Boon from being a businessman and getting in front of a camera to sell it anyway. This was well before WB bought out NRS as well... so it's not this behavior was forced on him by execs or anything new.

He will always promote the hell out of his latest game... regardless of how bad it actually is.

Oh, of course then. I said he seemed like a good businessman, not a good guy lol.
