....already has game library, Cortana? funny i don't use it on my PC so, nothing important for most people, and Windows 10 apps..hmm let's wait and see if Windows Mobile can hold up for 1 more year, but at the moment it's dying.
Haha oh man, what even is this?

You can do it yourself with the steps he posted. You have to be on the latest Windows 10 insider build though, the redstone build which is the same build as the preview Xbox build.

I don't have an Xbox One and I don't have a Windows 10 computer :)

Some people really get defensive over their console choice.

On topic: I still don't have the update. Hopefully tonight.

Nice fanboy post, love it!

First impressions:

Negatives first:
  • "Hey Cortana" is a bit slow in this early phase. It has a warm up atm which seems to delay commands a full second or two longer then you're used to.
  • Also, no longer saying "Xbox, ___" for things WILL take some getting used to.
  • Store could still use some improvement. Maybe with the merger with Windows 10 store it'll improve the issues of STILL having multiple copies of same game for preorder.

Positives:
  • "Hey Cortana" is way more versatile already then xbox voice commands. If you don't match the game name exactly, she still figures it out or comes up with a list of suggestions if multiple titles match. (Example: "Hey Cortana, play halo" and she'll list Halo 5, MCC and Spartan Strike.
  • Other things I tried that worked great: "Hey Cortana, record the last 1 minute 15 seconds of gameplay". "Hey Cortana, start a party and invite gamertag, gamertag, and real name." "Hey Cortana, go to TV and watch ABC."
  • The My Games/Apps section being right at the top and the redesign (thank god for small tiles) is much improved. New filters and download information is nice too.

Yet to try the new game DVR editor or activity feed personalization. Overall positive impression, great early steps towards revamping the games collection and voice commands with Cortana.

I just hope they change the "Xbox On" commands back.

But what I am reading in the forums basically nobody wants to say "Hey Cortana, ....." for just turning on his Xbox.

Sounds awesome. I hope the official release is sooner than later.

What kind of speech to text functions are available ? Is it possible for any text input using the standard keyboard, or is it just messages ? That would make browsing forums on console much more usable (although there would still be the language settings issue for non English speakers)

I asked Cortana to send my long time buddy this message:

"Hey wassup my nigga"

he got this message:

"Hey wassup my ni******"

We both chuckled.

Got a message from Xbox Live. Opened it all excited, turns out it was just a thank you for making Xbox safer enforcement message, and not a hey time to opt into the new dashboard message :(

Well, at least the "fuk ur traps biiiiiiiiiiitch" guy from COD got a chat ban. For the record I don't "set traps". But my teammates do use a lot of trip mines.

This is my experience so far. Pausing/Playing/Volume Up and Down/etc. are all incredibly slow. I got the update yesterday at some point - it was waiting for me when I got home (that was funteresting when trying to turn the Xbone on initially).

Because I didn't get much beyond that I don't have many other opinions yet. It's weird saying "Hey Cortana, Go to Sleep" (instead of Turn Off) as well - I really do wish you could continue to utilize old commands.

One thing I heard: If you have a Windows 10 computer in the same room, they both respond - that could be a huge cluster eff.

My wife hates this update so far.

I'll hopefully have more time to play with it over the weekend, but y'all may have the update for yourselves by then.

I've been wondering about this. I've been wanting to add a desktop mic for Cortana stuff on my PC but my Kinect is a couple of feet away. I really hope they let you rename your devices. I'd rather not call either of them Cortana if I can get away with it.

They need to enable cortana in Brazil soon (it's there on mobile and desktop already, though currently kinda sucks compared to the english one). Cortana really revamped the voice commands as I expected, but I'm much more used now to using them in portuguese XD

Hey Cortana 'pause' play halo 5

*Bings Halo 5*

When it works, it's great but this kind of thing happens far too often. It's much less precise than the previous "Xbox..." commands even if I'm using Kinect.

Although it might be expecting me to speak in an American accent seeing as I've changed my location for the US store.

I asked Cortana if she was evil... She said 'I'm going to pretend I didn't hear that'.

That isn't an answer Cortana! :p

Has the store in this update removed it's 'upcoming games' section or is my store just loading bits slowly/or I'm blind?

Not just less precise, but the side effect of the fails is much more pronounced. Rather than nothing I get Cortana snapped and my audio lowered.

I noticed the current build is almost in sync with the latest Windows 10 Redstone build.

Guessing by the time its ready, the PC/Xbox/Windows Phone will all be running essentially the same version of Windows at the same time. That's pretty amazing.

There is, I just got it.

Go to the Xbox forums and into the latest update section. If you're able to post in that forum area, you're in for the next push.

For example:

http://forums.xbox.com/xbox_early_a...review_forums/xosu_1606/f/5629/t/2168025.aspx

If you can reply in that thread, you have been rolled into the update.

OMGOMGOMGOMG I was able to post a reply in that sounds on/off thread!!! So that means I'll get the update tonight? Says here new build available today at 6:00 PM PDT, so roughly one hour.

WOHOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

New update going out tonight:

Fixes:

• EA Access
EA Access game trials and vault titles should now install and launch as normal.

• Play-To
Play-To should no longer fail to initiate.

• My Games & Apps
Resolved an issue which sometimes caused games to install in the wrong language.

• Activity Feed
You should no longer encounter an error when selecting which content is shared in the Activity Feed in Settings > Preferences > Activity Feed.

And now I got a message from Xbox Live that just says "Xbox 360 Dashboard". I have no clue what that's about but checking the Preview it's clearly not an invite to the new XBO Dash :(
