God Of War E3 2016 trailer gameplay, not open world, all Kratos, 2017

Did this remind anyone of
Ryse
at all?

The real question should be: how is this running on ps4??

So glad they went that direction. GoW3 was the prime of the button mashing 2D gameplay with fixed camera. Kratos's model is incredible by the way. This and Horizon are really the games of the show.

Agree, I am getting Gaiden feels, cant wait to play it, looks great.

So much more immersive than fixed camera...looks brutal.

Funny how people constantly shat on GOW for being more of the same and now that it's heading exactly where they wanted it to be, they shit on it for being different.

IMO, they have guts and are full of courage to reboot a classic like that!

Even if that is the case, I dont get how it is bad. What I consider bad or rather -archaic- is the typical GOW gameplay that has been milked for like 6 games already...

I didn't say it was bad, just replying to the guy who said that there's NOTHING similar to Dark Souls from what we've seen

Just catching up on trailers.

I'm a pretty huge GoW fan and I loved the extended trailer (I'm assuming there's a shorter trailer somewhere) - I hope there are other instances where they treat death as seriously as they do in places here. Killing that deer reminded me of the scene in Saving Private Ryan (you know the one). :'(

I'm not sure if it should get praise for being more like The Last of Us. That's cool but it's not as if they're daring to do something untested, at least in this demo.

Really? the boss fight especially felt a lot like a DkS/LoF game

Maybe because of the lock on camera and rolling, but other than that it's really a diferent vibe IMO (that fight have automatic camera changes, slowmo, camera aiming, QTE, rage triggers).

As someone who only played GoW1 and part of 2, I had no interest in another GoW. This is not the case now. Kratos is a character that comes off more likeable and the gameplay change, assuming its drastically different, is more in line with what I prefer.

Eager to see more.

Love the direction this is taking, though i have a couple of early nitpicks:

- Combat does not seem fluid. Attacks don't seem to connect as well as say, the souls series?
- Not the biggest fan of how close the camera remains during combat, seems somewhat claustrophobic to me.
- Seems like there is a lot of camera stutter during movement, in or out of combat?

Obviously still very early, and i do hope that it gets ironed out and refined. Also, i initially did not want them to go with Kratos as the main character, but after seeing this, i am 100% on board. I feel like the rage meter is something people familiar with the series might get a kick out of seeing, at least i know i did haha.... And what is God of War without Kratos?

I meant those were released before TLOU. If you say GOW takes from TLOU, then TLOU got ideas from those games before.

That can be the case. I just think people are getting ahead of themselves. We have no idea how this kid works into the story.

I know it's probably Kratos' kid and I'm not sure whether or not they say it in the video, but he could be training him for a while, training him for somebody else, something can happen to the kid to kick the story off... A lot of things can happen since they haven't even given a launch window. I'm not even worried about the direction they're going with this even though the demo is missing a few important Gow things.

That looked beautiful from a technical standing and uninspired/boring from a gameplay standing... Lets take parts/settings from other series and crowbar Kratos in. Not feeling the kid at all tbh. Would have been funny as all hell if he clocked Kratos in the face with that arrow though.

Hopefully they can turn me around as I loved the GoW1-3.

Well Santa Monica has allways been incredibly talented in terms of tech, also Uncharted 4 already showed the type of visual you can get when pushing the Ps4.

Plus, from now on you really should asume every Ps4 exclusive shown before release is running on a Ps4k (NEO)

Kid gets killed by frost giant
Kratos goes bananas and starts killing frost giants
Kratos enlists the help of Norse gods to kill more frost giants
Norse gods realize Kratos is a lunatic and betray him at the end
Setup for sequel where Kratos kills all of the Norse gods

Bam.

Looks mind-boggling. They could not be doing anything better with the series for me than this. Kratos is a god damn VIKING and will be in a world of dark as hell Norse mythology.

I don't think he is a viking in this. Seems like it's Greek Kratos who's made his way up North. When he beats the crap out of the troll it says "Spartan Rage". It should be Viking Rage if he was Norse, unless SSM messed that up.

Love the axe returning system à la Thor.

You know BOYYYYY, we really are the Gods of War.

OT title.

I'm hoping
>Norse gods are scared that some guy named Kratos is going to kill them
>They send some monsters to kill him
>monsters accidentally kill a kid that Kratos cares about
>Kratos sets out for revenge.

It doesn't that far from U4 imo.

Remember how GoW 3 and Ascension looked on PS3 ? They were insane

This is, of course, the sad part of short console cycles: less incentive to pull off wizardry late in the cycle. The Last of Us looked like it was from a different generation than early PS3 games.

That compressed cutscene pic doesn't support your argument. The gameplay looks notably different from cutscenes and you never get photo-mode iq during gameplay.
You are really reaching.
The game moves to gameplay without a camera cut in that particular instance, your argument about "cutscene" there is moot. You are also completely wrong about photomode having improved IQ in UC4 and pulling it out of your ass. Also the pictures you posted are from gameplay angles taken with the harshest lighting possible falling on the character...ofcourse it's going to look worse compared to the GOW gif that is from a scripted sequence if you are only comparing character models...even if that sequence lasts a second or two, the point here is that the camera and character lighting in that scene was under developer control. And by the way the foliage in UC4 is stylised and not realistic, but it still looks better/denser and don't forget reacts physically too.

Neither game is going to be above the other, you'll most likely be able to find simple geometry, low detailed backgrounds and artifacts in GOW too.

I really loved what we saw. More focused combat with more 1v1 encounters. Loved the kid as well, hopefully that continues throughout the game. Great new direction for the franchise and a badass more down to earth Kratos.

I dig the much better characterisation and what seems like a bigger focus on story but there's nothing good I could say about over the shoulder melee combat.

So far this looks to be GoW youtube edition. I hope we get to see more of the combat very quickly.

I want to be wrong.

In photo-mode the taa basically supersamples.... see the hair
