Hey, so... I just uh, holy shit. So I watched the tape, right? I looked at the note. I went and got the key. I turned to walk out of the starting room, but the door was open, and I saw this zombie-looking mother fucker walk by. Scared the shit out of me because I've played through this a few times already, and I've never seen that.

That happens every time, I guess you just didn't notice it.

Not really impressed with that. Doesnt feel like Resi at all.

Would have loved to see the Horror version of Resi 4 back. With new graphics etc that could be up as creepy and horror like this 1st person thing

Those of you with reservations about this resembling a Resident Evil title would do well to imagine the first-person-view to be just like the transition scenes from the original games of opening doors and walking up stairs, only this time it's permanent.

The sooner you accept that, the quicker you'll realize how those original transition scenes have become part of the gameplay. We've come full circle.

Played it. It's awful. Basically an uninspired (and way less scary) PT clone.

Going back to its roots? LMAO.

Oh well, sucks for fans of both classic and action RE, but it's great for all the fans who were clamoring the next RE game to be a generic first person horror game.

Where did you hear this?

Nope. Jordan Amaro, a game designer that worked on PT, joined Capcom only few months ago, when the game was nearly finished.

Biohazard 7 has been in full blown development since October, last year, and Jordan Amaro (who's specialty is in game design and stealth mechanics) disappeared from social media from September.... Even if it were a "only a few" months, he likely touched up the demo we see today.

I'm a fan of classic and action Resident Evil, and I love the demo.

LOL! at people saying this isn't Resident Evil. As someone who's played the series since day 1, I can say with no reservations that 4 and 5 marked the biggest departures from the established tone of the series. This feels like RE just in a first person perspective.

Well, I guess it feels like RE, if you took out all of the enemies, iconic characters, music, weapons, items, camera angle. Admittedly, the house reminded me of the mansion in the original in a way which was always my favorite setting in the RE universe. Still I had fun with it though.

I just finished the demo and I thought it was great aside from one or two cheap scares. The atmosphere was fuckin creepy and I love the grimy aesthetic. I'm an old school Res evil fan and while this is a significant departure, its at least going back to its horror roots. I wasn't fan of 5 or 6.

Also reading through the thread it seems there is different outcomes to finishing the demo? I thought I did everything exactly as I was supposed to. It certainly wasn't an hour though. 15 mins max.

Yea it feels so much like resident evil with the lack of enemies to actually fight. The lack of weapons. Lack of personality in terms of music and visuals. But hey its its scary and it takes place in an estate and puzzles and items! Because thats all that you need right?

It's a demo due ...

Do we know if it's a full 60$ retail game?

Listing on Amazon is $60, but it could be a placeholder. There's really no reason to expect that it won't be a full retail title, though.

EDIT: Nvm, forgot it was up digitally as well. Definitely $60.

Yeah, with those reasons every indie horror can be RE then, just be spooky and put zombies

Pretty much.

It feels like a game for people who haven't played RE for years and an attempt to placate their dim memories of playing them, despite said memories often being incredibly unreliable.

Meanwhile, long-term fans get the shaft.

It's utterly bizarre.

Defiantly.
Mannequin finger, and the key hole in the kitchen
still haven't been solved. The trailer also showcases a lot that hasn't been found yet.

Are you talking about the locked drawer in the kitchen? This problem has been solved. During the videotape flashback there is a lock pick on the floor between the microwave and the fridge. The cabinet is empty during the video but it contains an act when you leave the tape.

Gee its almost like I forgot to say personality from visuals and audio. Oh wait I didn't. Let me be more clear. Resident Evil's presentation is what made it stand apart. You know I even gave a great example in Metroid, which managed to keep its style in the 2d/first person transition. Yet you ignored that aspect as well.

I'm not sure this is playing it safe with the franchise at all lol.

Yeah, good point. Maybe, jumping on the bandwagon is more appropriate. This drastic change is probably really hard for old school fans to embrace and accept even moreso than RE6. We'll have to see.

Was expecting to like the demo, but it was as mediocre as it gets

Hoping this style is only for the prologue or something

Hahah exactly. You're not even playing a known character. Going back to it roots is REmake with a third person view and not this. Even with change of view this doesn't share anything with the old games. Dead Aim is a more resident evil title than this.

Finished it in like 10 minutes. I'm sure there are hidden stuff, but as an experience, P.T. was a million times more intriguing and other-worldly.

This is just slasher horror reminiscent of all the other first-person horror games that rely on gore and blood to scare the player. Personally I am much more into psychological and abstract horror rather than Texas Chainsaw Massacre of
"crazy family capturing a camera crew"
that we see in this game.

If the narrative and horror are going to be this B-tier low quality, then I'd strongly prefer the game just to be campy action horror that the Resident Evil series is known for.

If I was a RE fan, I'd be worried about this. It's cool to experiment, but the execution gotta be on point then. RE4 managed to perfect its new change of direction, which enabled people to embrace the new elements, but so far with this game it seems like a miscalculated design experimentation with flawed execution. Or slasher horror and campy narratives just don't gel for me.

Again, I don't think this is a creative decision to make RE7 into a first-person horror game, but instead because of development problems at Capcom (Pantha Raid) and budget constraints.
