Ok so how do I get into the RE ambassador program. A few people here did

ResidentEvil.Net

Entering the Ambassador program asks you a lot of interesting questions, they ask which game franchises you have played and liked (and they range from Resident Evil, but most of the other options are not Capcom games, they include everything from Metal Gear Solid to Fatal Frame to Bloodborne to Forbidden Siren), favorite RE character, which type of RE games you like (action, horror, etc), what type of horror scares you most, those sorts.

Then you get an account, and it shows a pic of a room from RE7 with a door, welcoming you to be an Ambassador, and you get some ID number.

The vast majority of diehard RE fans will buy the game, regardless of how it turns out.

There will be combat in the real game, that pic with the shotgun makes it pretty obvious(We will have weapons, lots of monsters, mercs, etc).
This teaser is just to show the tone of the game and the only thing set in stone is that the RE7 is first person because of VR,maybe they could let you switch between 1st and 3rd person though.
If capcom has to listen to every opinion about what RE is supposed to be,they would kill themselves.
As for me,it feels like RE because it has that adventure game vibe from the old games(picking random items and figure out how to use them, locked doors, item management, etc)

If this has Mercs I will be stunned

Yeah, the direction they obviously want to go with this game is to establish something completely unknown by the community to reset expectations. They've been VERY deliberate in what they've shown us thus far, how all of that pertains to the demo, and what exactly is going on here. They want to entice the community with a 'mystery' and hope we unravel.

I'm fascinated by all this & seeing where it leads. I can't wait until we figure out the demo.

Finished it in like 10 minutes. I'm sure there are hidden stuff, but as an experience, P.T. was a million times more intriguing and other-worldly.

This is just slasher horror reminiscent of all the other first-person horror games that rely on gore and blood to scare the player. Personally I am much more into psychological and abstract horror rather than Texas Chainsaw Massacre of
"crazy family capturing a camera crew"
that we see in this game.

If the narrative and horror are going to be this B-tier low quality, then I'd strongly prefer the game just to be campy action horror that the Resident Evil series is known for.

If I was a RE fan, I'd be worried about this. It's cool to experiment, but the execution gotta be on point then. RE4 managed to perfect its new change of direction, which enabled people to embrace the new elements, but so far with this game it seems like a miscalculated design experimentation with flawed execution. Or slasher horror and campy narratives just don't gel for me.

Again, I don't think this is a creative decision to make RE7 into a first-person horror game, but instead because of development problems at Capcom (Pantha Raid) and budget constraints.
Well this is basically my opinion on this whole thing.

Has anyone figured out how to get out yet?

I think the internet as a whole currently is stuck after you get the finger and the axe. Maybe there's something you need to do before this to progress, especially as it seems doing certain things can change other things, or lock you out from getting another time.

The theory I have is it's related to the ghost in the videotape world. There's at least 6 places she can appear incredibly briefly and under specific circumstance, you have to be at the right place at the right time, and how they're sprinkled about has me suspicious if they may be tied to anything.

Yeah my first run of the demo I did pretty much the bare minimum lol I only found
the finger but found no use for it
. Overall I like the tone that was set RE7 seems to have a lot of potential though I'm not sure if I'd want to play the whole game in VR with this tone.

Pretty much.

It feels like a game for people who haven't played RE for years and an attempt to placate their dim memories of playing them, despite said memories often being incredibly unreliable.

Meanwhile, long-term fans get the shaft.

It's utterly bizarre.

Long term fan here. Liked the demo and hyped for the full game.

For years, those of us who liked the action RE games were told the "true fans" only liked the classic games. Now the action fans are saying the same thing. "Old fans are disappointed."

Don't do the same shit. It's possible to enjoy all versions of RE. You should know better.

Just finished playing it. It was...okay? Idk, I think PT set the bar pretty high, for me at least. The atmosphere was 10x better in that. Still optimistic about the new direction though.

It should not be part 7 imo, if it was a Spinoff yeah, we will see if sales reflect that.

If it doesn't sell well I can see Capcom pulling their hair out confused by what we want, the answer is simple, more like the first 3.

that said good luck to them, I'm Grateful theres already 0,1,4,5,6 Revelations and Remake 2 oh and that Spinoff all for PS4. It doesn't wipe them off the face of the Earth.

Are you able to try this now?

Maybe you can use the finger to play the piano?

I never thought of that when I was at home, and I always hit the piano to start with so the lid shut and then was closed, never thought you might be able to use the finger on the piano.

Ooooooooo. Hang on, I'll try that.

Im in the same boat

Tried the Ax on everything. No idea what the finger is for

We are past the point of obvious solutions

Okay, fuck. Capcom made this demo tricky to be able to get further.

The fucking headphones. If you mess with the in-game options audio near them, a sound will play.

This may take a while if the options menu can alter things in the game.

I actually hadn't thought of that either, that is a thought. I can't try immediately as I just let the PS4 to someone else after a run, but if someone can, that'd be great. If they can't, I probably can in a bit.

Has anyone finished the demo? How does the scare factor compare to PT?

The scary parts were when the groaning and the music would ramp up. This meant Lisa was somewhere, meaning she could "kill" you.
The audio was your cue to piss yourself.
In this demo, I'm only aware of
two times you get "killed", when you try to leave or when you answer the phone.
This means, unless something has changed, I am free to stroll about safe in the knowledge I won't be "killed" until then.
The audio in this is just constant banging around, except for the
growling from behind the tv room door in the flashback bit.
It sounds like someone is shifting some furniture, it's just a constant stream of banging, so it lost its scare factor after a while.

Can't use the finger on the piano.
I had a similar thought too.

There has to be some use for it though, right?

The beauty of this is that, they're already going to be delivering us another game in that vein with REmake 2. going by what they've been saying in interviews & such, it seems that they have an idea in mind to keep building experiences in the RE series that capture a feel of certain eras, while also pushing the envelope with the main line series. They specifically talked about the Revelations series continuing to be an exploration of the RE 4 formula. With REmake 2 in the pipeline & how well received RE1 remaster has been, I think its safe for fans to know they're gonna have products they can vote with their wallets for.

Kind of underwhelming and too short.

I stood at the latter for a whole minute and then realized the game wanted me to do something specific, so I kind of expected a jump scare.

TGO

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
I thought I was being hursh but seems Youtubers aren't too pleased with this, and CapcomUnity site don't look much better, the idea is good perhaps in VR it's scary too but Capcom has fuck up, I don't even think the demo has push me to pre-order, after 20 years? Theres gotta be more to it.

The more I read, the more it sounds like this demo has a lot of hidden stuff and ways to proceed, and maybe that's what the creator want player to experience? If that so, then lots of bad impression from quick 10 minute play is not such a surprise. People is so quick to judge the game base on what they see (which is not wrong), lots of comparison to another horror FPS titles.

SO, HERE ARE THINGS I'VE DISCOVERED AFTER PLAYING THIS DEMO FOR A FEW HOURS:

-To get the Fuse, you need to pull the lever in the fireplace and go inside and get it before you watch the video tape, the fuse disappears after that. Fuse will give you access to the attic.

-In the video tape, there is a lockpick behind the microwave in the kitchen on the floor. Using the lockpick on the locked drawer in the kitchen will make it available in the current era to be open, where one can find the Axe.

-You can pause the game and choose 'stop video' while playing a video tape to stop the video tape and return to the main game early, BUT win conditions for the video tape that will make the backyard key appear (which only appears after you finish the videotape scenario) will not appear until you see the ending of the sequence.

-You can unlock the backyard door with the key and not open it (which will not kill you, only kills you if you open it).

-The Axe has a heavy attack, which you can use by holding L2 and then swinging it.

-Checked every corner of the videotape and regular world, literally everything one could think of, to see if there was another hidden item like the Lockpick. Nothing, and literally spent an hour searching.

-Up the stairs to the second floor, there are three mannequins there. If you enter the room and look away from them regularly, they will turn around to look at you, and a new mannequin you can move will spawn by the stairs. If you activate the stairs to the attic with the fuse beforehand, the mannequin cannot spawn on this floor. There is a phone in the attic who will change what the person on the line will say based on whenever you made the mannequin spawn or not. If you made it spawn, it will give you a line about memory. If you did not spawn it, it will give you a line about choice. No idea what difference this might make.

-After you pick up the phone, you'll usually die, but if you have the axe, you can swing your axe around to get back to the first floor and you'll be fine.

-In the videotape, there are various scenes of a 'ghost'. I have seen her spawn in three locations, outside across from the door the guy kicks in, in the hall in the room with the hanging dolls standing in a corner, and when you climb down the ladder to get to the basement. She always is only on screen for a second and then disappears, and she only seems to appear if you are in the right place at the exact right time when the other two characters are going along their automated cinematic path. If you go too far ahead to early, or come to late, you seem to miss it. The easiest one I have had time triggering is the one in the hanging doll room, which appears as soon as the guy peeks in and turns around if you follow at the right time. In the RE7 trailer, there is also two split second images that show this same ghost in two areas in the demo I have not managed to see her in, one in the window behind the microwave, one peaking her head through a hole in the ceiling.

-You can use the axe to destroy the boxes and the mannequins you can move, but I have found no other practical or useful use for it yet. The same goes for the Mannequin Fake Finger, found absolutely no use yet.

-Not sure if important, but the phone cable is notably blue, and an interesting detail, you can find a low-hanging blue cable from the phone in the kitchen by the entrance from the front hall. Not sure if important or an attention to detail.

-In the RE7 trailer, it shows areas from the demo, but it shows a few rooms that we haven't found yet, implying there's some rooms we haven't been to yet in the demo (they all look to be set around the demo area).

---

It seems there's more to the demo, and maybe a better ending than the, 'Part of the family,' one everyone has found. I am stuck at the Axe and Mannequin. What makes this trickier is as the Fuse can disappear if you don't pick it up before the VHS tape and how the Mannequin can change the phone call message, it implies some small things can change or lock you out of things, so maybe there's some combination of actions you need to do to progress?

My bigger guess is maybe you have to somehow do a 'perfect run' with the ghosts in the video tape. How they appear is so precise to make it work, maybe being able to spot every ghost will do something? Two ideas.

I'm breaking for now, but will try again later. Hoping someone may find more than I have.

I didn't manage to hear this phone call, so very interesting. I leaned you could stop the tape, didn't think it might change something.

PT all over again. Obviously the doll finger is a key, that stupid drawer pissed me off so much because I thought I had the key.

I got back down to the kitchen after answering the phone without an axe so an axe is not needed to get out. I have no clue what triggers the man, clearly it's a PT like ghost situation.

There is a damn switch click like noise that happens every minute or so. I am wondering if that has anything to do with it.

RE6 was the franchise reaching a point where it was basically a character action game like P.N. 03 or Vanquish.

I'm sure a lot of people who loved the action direction are disappointed. I don't begrudge the franchise going in a direction that wasn't for me, after having enjoyed all the other mainline titles including 4 and 5.

I love horror. I love VR. I love the Resident Evil series for it's puzzles and exploration. Yes, the franchise *came* to have great gameplay... but the original games in the series were not something anyone played because of their gameplay per se. You didn't play RE1 because it had really satisfying gameplay mechanics. It was the tone and atmosphere...

So no, this doesn't feel like a hard break for the series. I'm sure there will be guns and things to fight, even if that happens less often... and that's totally okay with me. I enjoyed my time in the Spencer Mansion whether the corridors were empty or not.

Resident Evil is to me about exploring smaller, yet open and detailed environments that slowly unlock new corners. It is about fearing what is around the corner. It is about needing to save resources. It is about unraveling a
badly written
mystery. It is about a see saw back and forth between feeling prepared to face the threats and then meeting new threats you aren't prepared for.

All of those things are either confirmed or likely in place. I'm very happy with what they showed... obviously. And I don't think the arguments about gameplay mechanics really hold up... because I don't think that's why those of us who loved the series prior to RE4 got into it.
