I am demo breaking a bit, but I want to help solve this. Someone mentioned a ghost no one had spotted or mentioned earlier, someone took a screenshot of it from a stream that saw it. Actually a really creepy ghost appearance:

I beat the demo and its pretty good, I enjoyed it. Though I didn't find it scary at all. And this is what P.T. did so well, the sounds, the radio, the footsteps, the screams... P.T. was really scary and it was leagues ahead of what I played here.

But P.T. won't ever come and this game will. So its kind of useless to compare them.

The scary parts were when the groaning and the music would ramp up. This meant Lisa was somewhere, meaning she could "kill" you.
The audio was your cue to piss yourself.
In this demo, I'm only aware of
two times you get "killed", when you try to leave or when you answer the phone.
This means, unless something has changed, I am free to stroll about safe in the knowledge I won't be "killed" until then.
The audio in this is just constant banging around, except for the
growling from behind the tv room door in the flashback bit.
It sounds like someone is shifting some furniture, it's just a constant stream of banging, so it lost its scare factor after a while.

Oh. I guess there is more to it. I just kind of walked through.

I think I was only creeped out once while playing it. Also, the setting is so similar to Outlast 2. The kitchen area reminded me of the scene in Se7en where they find the fat guy.

Are you even able to make it outside?

Huh... You weren't here for the P.T. solution? That shit was ridiculous! People were screaming at their headsets.

PT streaming with gaf was the best thing ever. I played MNF into the headset. Then figured out that the codec triggers the giggle.

Speaking of which, anyone try a mic?

I too noticed that click at random points as well, as if something was being activated.

I noticed it when upstairs next to the mannequins, also noted it downstairs in the hall.

The problem with these scares is,

when you put a hand on someones shoulder for a good 5 seconds and he slowly turns around, you'll know whats coming.

Compare that to P.T. when the radio urged you to turn around and look.

So far I found three mannequins that can be destroyed with the axe.

- the one that appears behind you in the attic
- the one that is on the opposit side of the telephone
- suddenly appearing on the corner where you find the tape.

The three that turn around in the attic can not be destroyed.

Someone got back to me about the headphones. If you're wearing headphones next to the headphone, and crank up the volume, the screen will turn dim and there will be a voice, but he could not hear what i said.

Anyone can confirm this? And if it does anything and what it might say if it does?

ALSO, some people on Reddit spotted these characters in the RE7 trailer which flash by quickly. Not sure if they mean anything, but maybe worth mentioning:

late to the party but this looks a million times better than the bullshit we got with Resident Evil 5 and 6. Love the logo too.

For years, those of us who liked the action RE games were told the "true fans" only liked the classic games. Now the action fans are saying the same thing. "Old fans are disappointed."

Don't do the same shit. It's possible to enjoy all versions of RE. You should know better.

I'm not adopting either stance, and never have. Surely you can see why people are saying there's little in the demo consistent with old RE games, be they classic or recent.

I should point out that I don't think the demo is bad, although it's not the type of game I'd usually play. It's just very bad RE.

If it doesn't sell well I can see Capcom pulling their hair out confused by what we want

I think they're already at that point if they're taking dramatic steps like this.

Does the axe work at breaking the boards on the door at the top of the second set of stairs?

Unfortunately not, but there are hook things on them, so maybe some way to get rid of them. But it's not the axe, neither regular nor heavy blows.

Yup. But this time it's some old, gigantic southern plantation style estate.

I'm absolutely okay with that.

RE needed a changeup, and going back to the mansion crawler days in a fresh perspective with the franchise is a good idea in my opinion.

I'm kind of astounded by the amount of hate this is getting.

So there are 6 Ghost appearances right?

One before entering the house, when Andre and the other dude reach the door.
One when you turn around after entering the house.
One where you look through the window in the Kitchen.
One on the stairs when you search for Andre.
One in the Voodoo Doll room.
One going down the ladder.

I'm curious if there is another appearance in the room with the TV seeing as how that's the only major area to not have an appearance.

Got another phone call:

"I know who you are.
Who are you?
Memories hold the truth.
Don't let appearances mislead you."

Something like this.

Also got this one:

"You will have to say goodbye eventually.
But will you be ready?"

The consensus I've seen from RE7 has been mostly positive

There's just a very vocal minority that loved RE5 and 6 who are bitter this is such a huge change in direction

I wonder where they go with RE7 from this demo.

I'm not inclined to play 10 hours of this, and what concerns me is them walking in PT's footprints. RE7 seems like it could be a game based on a teaser for another game.

I didn't hate the demo though. I thought it was a good sequel to PT. The tape concept was novel but I'm wondering just how many original ideas they could have considering they lifted the entire concept.

If this isn't some kinda prologue im out, absolutely hate it as a main Resident Evil.
Will be the first RE I skip, hell even have Umbrella Corps preordered.

Seems the only two communities I can find trying to solve the demo's secrets are here on GAF, and Reddit. I'll post some interesting things from Reddit that may help us as well, I can't play right now, but point things that sound like interesting leads.

On one of the shelves (I forget which) there's a number of scratches; if you look at the top-right of the shelf three of the scratches look pretty clearly like an arrow pointing upwards. There's just a piece of ceiling tile hanging though so I dunno.

I'm fan of the old RE games and while I put up with RE5-6 as it still Resident Evil just action based this is neither PT good or Resident Evil.
just hope there's more too it, that's my big concern.
