That's it! I try to list as many as I can, if you have a tournament you want to highlight, please post it in the thread!

Note: If you have an interest in discussing the Fighting Game Community, consider joining the Fighting Game Community thread where we try to talk about what is happening in the FGC.

As always, if you see an infographic for a FGC tournament, it was likely made by acekingoffsuit. The guy makes stream schedules for every major tournament and he does it for free. You can find his twitter account here: https://twitter.com/acekingoffsuit

Also, Malice215's FGC Calendar was used to help get more information on tournaments. Malice215 (also a gaffer) spends much of his free time maintaining the FGC Calendar Malice215's twitter for his FGC Calendar is https://twitter.com/fgcevents_

Dreamhack is a premiere? I guess a bunch of killers will be going then.

Well non-American killers anyways.

Last count, there was over a dozen American players going. It helps that there isn't another CPT event to go to this week.

Apex is dead. Barely worth noting and not "really" the same series that died last year.

LTC and Dreamhack are both far more noteworthy as far as Smash(/Melee, I dunno about Smash 4) goes.

"According to Reiketsu, pool 1 winner faces pool 16 loser. Pool 1 loser faces pool 16 winner, etc..."

The fuck? That can't be right. That's not how double elimination brackets work, Dreamhack.

The fuck? That can't be right. That's not how double elimination brackets work, Dreamhack.

Looking over their tournament information/rules, I found this:
Format: 1on1. Groups to Double Elimination bracket.

Game Settings: Versus, 99 seconds, 2/3 Rounds, Default Handicap, Random Stage Select. Groups to Double Elimination Bracket. 2/3 games until top 8, which is 3/5 games.

So the way that reads, yes it is groups that qualify you into a new top 32 double elim bracket. Very weird way to do things and makes winning your group meaningless except for seeding. Hopefully just miscommunication though and they do it normally.

Well, I guess that *kind* of makes sense, but generally speaking that sort of setup is usually done with some kind of round robin group stage for seeding into an elimination bracket. Kind of weird to do a double elimination bracket to put you into a fresh new double elimination bracket.

Its really dumb. The only players that benefit are the losers of their pools.

Welcome to e-sports. They want to show as much matches as possible and will make retarded rules to ensure they happen. Don't tell me you did not see Dreamhack and not see the stupid practices coming.

This is the first time I seen it happen at a Dreamhack event.
