PS2 games you remember very fondly but everybody else forgot

Lol, Spider-man 2 is still regarded as the best Spider-man game. No one forgets that one.

Still hoping for a PS2 classic release on the PS4 for Alter Code F.

Terrible voice acting and unique if very frustrating mechanics assured me I would never actually beat this game as a teenager, but it was funny to play.

I never had the PSOne predecessor to this game, so I went into this headfirst. Really good soundtrack but going back to it I cant make heads or tails on anything anymore.

Everyone forgot this existed, and when it existed everyone thought it was garbage, and rightfully so, unfortunately I got ahold of a game magazine that listed every single wrestling technique of all the characters and I got the game and played it for hours trying to unlock everything. And not once did I question if this game wasn't actually good. Had fun though.

Oh I remember seeing Legendary samurai musashi, i think i rented it once. Knowing about brave fencer mushashi makes this art style super jarring

Everblue was a cool diving mystery game thing. I think it eventually turned supernatural but I never got that far.

Slightly off-topic: Arika also made the fantastic Endless Ocean on the Wii (same style).
Very relaxing game, gets a little scary when you go deeeeeeep.

I have both this and the PSOne original. It was your typical JRPG but the music was some of the best I've heard.

Gitaroo Man is one of the best music games of all time. There's so much care in tying the gameplay to the story, and the music is varied and awesome.

The best wrestling game on the PS2?

Galactic Wrestling Featuring Ultimate Muscle has fun gameplay and some really cool finishers.

How did this compare to the GameCube Ultimate Muscle game.

I'lll go with Dokapon Kingdom, an interesting board game that even let you rename your opponents...

Have the Wii version of this.

Huh, didn't know Drakan had a PS2 release. It's one of those games I heard about, knew was good, but never sat down to play. How does it hold up?

It didn't.

This is the PS2-only sequel.

I don't know if people forgot about it, but Shinobi still lives as the hardest game in my heart:

The adrenaline when beating that was great, and it's stylish to boot, the scarf is out of this world.

Was literally JUST going to post this. Love this game, it is unique I think because it is a character action game that really feels like much of it is designed just like an arcade game.

Fingers crossed that second image doesn't just blow out the size of this post. But goddamn, I've recently been reminiscing hard for the fun I used to have with my friends on four player split screen with that game.

Not really a quality title, but I have extremely fond memories of playing the multiplayer on it

There's also State of Emergency 1 that someone posted earlier

Yeah, the Wild Arms series in general has fantastic music

Great game, that has some deceptively deep mechanics. But I preferred the the sequel Nightshade.

Hibana (and all things Shinobi) remain forgotten and ignored by Sega.

Everyone forgot Mark of the Kri and Rogue Galaxy so badly that they were some of the first games to receive the PS2 to PS4 treatment.

Yeah, I'm sure it has nothing to do with being published by Sony. Definitely because they're widely known and well remembered games.

Always interested in these games but heard there were really difficult. Particularly in platforming.

As someone who prefers to breeze through games on lower difficulties (with exceptions for the games I care about) this scared me off.

Somehow all the games that came after this had inferior swing mechanics. I don't know what made it special, but I would boot up this game just to swing around the city and look cool doing it. There was even a little skill involved. The game didn't help you swing nicely. If your web misfired and you went straight for a building, your streak was over. No points, No achievements, just your own satisfaction of swinging around the big city. I loved it.

To add to the topic:

Bujingai_cover.jpg

Bujingai: Swordmaster
Not the best action game ever, but I still enjoyed it a lot. It had some sort of clashing mechanic where colors would fly off the screen as you and your enemy went mental on eachother with your swords. I'd give it a 75/100, but the nice kind of 75/100.

These games are not easy by both modern or PS2 standards, with later levels relying on your complete understanding of the dash mechanics.
With that said, once you've got that dash system nailed everything just 'clicks' and the game suddenly becomes a breeze. Plus both games are pretty short.

Damn, now I'm wanting both games released as PS2 Classics on PS4! ლ(´Д`ლ)

Not as big in its scope as the other Spider-man game mentioned here, nor had it equal swing mechanics, but it had beautiful cel shading combined with what I considered a better story.

i post this in every single Hidden PS2 gem thread or variation thereof.

Amazing adventure game that probably got lost between Jak and Ratchet&Clank. I still replay it every year or so.

Yes! Was looking for Conflict in here. Those games were amazing.

Kya: Dark Lineage. As if Beyond Good & Evil, Rayman 2, and Zelda had a baby.

Edit: I see it is already posted, good!

I've got it mainly because of the Raccoon City scenario. While the game wasn't well reviewed, I loved it and the art style is gorgeous.

How could you do 50+ hours in Spider-Man 2? .... All the side missions were the same shit over and over and the story mode was meager at best......
