PlayStation Network Thread | June 2016

Playing VA-11 HALL-A on my laptop and goddamn the writing in this is quite stellar. Can't wait til VitaGAF gets their hands on this one. You will enjoy this quite a bit.

Hello everyone :).

Been playing a lot on my Vita lately, with Soul Sacrifice Delta & SAO Lost Song being main ones.

But, I got review codes for two Vita games! Grand Kingdom and Funk of the Titans :D! Reviews on both games will pop on 3wriel later this week for the later and late next week for the former :).

Hope you guys look forward to them :D.

Also wrote a article covering Mighty No. 9's history, development and more. Give that a look if you have interest in the game or want to learn more about it.

Really fucking annoying that FFXIV + Heavensward together is on sale for $25, but Heavensward alone is not and costs $30. Basically screwed for supporting XIV by purchasing it earlier.

I bought a physical copy of Muramasa Rebirth today. I've had a PS+ copy sitting on my system for over a year at this point and had hoped I could use the save data from this version on my cartridge. After inserting the game, however, I got this message: "The same application is on the memory card. To use the application on the PS Vita card, you must delete the same application on the memory card and then insert the PS Vita card again."

So is the only way to get my save back to resubscribe to PS+? Or is there some workaround I don't know about?

I'm a bit late, but there's a work around.

http://thevitalounge.net/forum/thre...-fix-game-data-without-losing-your-save.3705/

Use that method to back up the PS+ version you can't use to your PC, strip the save out, and then insert it into the memory card game data of the physical version.

Parakeetman

No one wants a throne you've been sitting on!
I was using Google Translate so I can't be too sure on the specifics, but a lot of reviews had something against the story and the main character. Hopefully we'll get some impressions in English soon.

Yeah lots of comments saying they dont like the personality of the main heroine at all which is a fairly large problem when compounded with comments about the scenario. Since if the 2 main things about a VN turn out to be not good then you are not left with much of a game...

Well, I'm still buying Root Letter when it comes out over here, lol.

Seriously though, Kadokawa seem to be going through problems with their internal development lol. All the delays on KanColle Kai; Natural Doctrine being fairly averagely received and now this. I hope God Wars turns out okay!

Wow..
That Xcom 2 is coming to PS4 is a happy surprise.
Haven't heard a word about that release.
So much for PC only.
Release on September 6th.
https://store.playstation.com/#!/en-us/games/xcom-2/cid=UP1001-CUSA04552_00-XCOM200000000000

I wouldn't get too excited. I borrowed a gaming laptop to play it because I loved XCOM EU and this was a huge letdown both in design and in performance. Heck it ran like ass on 980ti around launch. I ended up using some user mods to fix some design problems and complete the game.

yo this is useful. thanks.

Never trust Japanese reviews on anything.

yep.

Meanwhile, it ran well on my 780 and was smooth as butter at high settings on my wife's 970. And yes, this was at launch, before any performance patches. Personally, I thought the game was fantastic. I'm glad to hear it's coming to consoles so more people can enjoy it.

Surreal feeling that The Last Guardian really is coming..
Managed to pre-order the Collectors Edition, hype is real.

I just received an email from Sony with beta codes for Drawn to Death and Killstrain from partaking in the E3 live thingamagig.

I don't really have an interest in either game. Does anyone want the codes?

You sure this will work for Muramasa? It's one of those games where the save data is stored on the cartridge itself, and can't be backed up with Content Manager.

If that's the case I'm not sure, BUT - at the same time I don't see why it would ignore save data that's present in the normal place for it. Even though it saves on the cart, if the data's in the place the system usually looks it might find it anyways.

It's a gamble, but the whole method described there is a janky workaround at best, and is doing something that wasn't designed to be done. Worst case scenario - his PS+ game is backed up to his PC and he needs to sync it back and resub to plus to get his save.

Game is great, I cannot stress how much I love the writing enough. The soundtrack is something else too, a beast of it's own. It's SMTIV levels of good.

Yeah just listen to the OST with me while we wait. It's insanely good

https://garoad.bandcamp.com/album/va-11-hall-a-second-round

It's like a PSX RPG and a 90s sci-fi anime had a baby

Mike has done fantastic work on the music! tell him you love it guys, he'll appreciate it

Will be reviewing it tomorrow, as I got a review code on the game and the review will be up on 3wirel; will share my full, detailed thoughts on the game then.

But otherwise, think Rayman Jungle Run in terms of gameplay/level design but without a high level of polish.

It has a nice style, but it is a bit choopy on Vita. It has some odd glitches when you restart a run (character dying at the start but a quick reset fixes it, character walks backwards for a bit, ect). The game also has some odd visuals, as I like the look of the game at many points, but some character models are off and the foes you fight clash with the style of the game.

Gameplay is solid, with you having the ability to jump and attack. But some level gimmicks like sliding, pillars that can swing back & forth and a push to hop on some foes at points makes levels interesting.

You even have Rocket Barrel levels (DKC Returns) as bonus mini games if you clear the level 100% (or collect the Pegasus item).

I like it so far and will share full thoughts on the game tomorrow :).

I just did the first levels so my opinion is not definitive. It's decent but still I'd recommend Bit Trip Runner 2 over it in the same genre if you didn't play it yet.

I like this game , i have it already , never finished it though

note: Ok so Odin Sphere, ill buy it physically today here in Argentina, is already available so im kinda happy. unfortunately i will not get the artbook but i could care less i want to play the game ! im really happy. Even when the demo was on the easy side i know this will be a game i will love. already had it on its ps2 classics version for my ps3 but when i got a few hours in, the news were out about this remaster version so i then stopped playing the game so i could enjoy the game in its best version .
I cannot wait!

To make this thread more active;

Since AX is in a week, what games are you guys expecting/wishing to be announced?
Sekai Project seems to have some Vita releases in the pipeline. Probably Grisaia.

Bamco, NISA and Aksys will also be there.

I don't expect much from NISA. Bamco - maybe Digimon Next Order?

As for Aksys...personally would like more otome games.

Who cares about otome games, they suck!

Gimme more Vita otome, pls.

Bamco - Digimon World: Next Order. Can't see them not capitalizing on Cyber Sleuth's success. I'd love

NISA - Hero Must Die. Maybe Cladun Sengoku as well, but I'm less fussed about that.

Aksys - I'd love it to be Ukiyo no Roushi, but I think that game has gone now. Otherwise I don't know what they could pick up that'd interest me, not too fussed about otome. I'd love a good VN that isn't otome, though.

I'm not *expecting* anything though after the year of announcement's we're having.

I heard Hyakka Hyakurou was really good, but then I realized it's by D3 and the chances of us getting it are lower than other otome games :(.

I'll expect nothing and still be disappointed :<

There's gotta be at least one game a lot of people want. At least one D:.

The only negative would be if Aksys had to resort to localizing more trash games. Aside from VNs, I'm not sure what they could bring either.

NISA is probably going to disappoint. Expect PC ports at most. They don't really deliver when it comes to AX.

NISA had a good year in 2014 iirc? Announced Criminal Girls and HTOL#NIQ.

Aksys are the wildcard for me, and I love them for that. They're just completely random with what they pick up sometimes - otome one week; Sorcery Saga the next; Exist Archive the next - so they're really my biggest hope. It's just all the games I feel may be a good fit for them are tied down to other companies (Uppers - Marvelous; Hero Must Die - NISA).

But Ukiyo no Roushi isn't. Hint hint if you're reading this, Aksys.

Interesting article by Jeff Minter about iOS, but had this nugget of information about Vita:

To give some idea of just how awful iOS was for us, the first non-iOS game I did after spending two years on iOS, released on a Sony handheld that many describe as being “obscure”, generated literally *thousands* of times more income for us than two years and ten games on iOS with its potential billions of users. In the face of that I would have been absolutely daft to spend any more time at all on iOS.

It ran almost OK on my 460 GTX and a dual-core processoer when turning most of the settings to low... almost. playable, but just barely.

As far as Sekai Project go, I'll start thinking about which of their games I want on the vita once they actually manage to get one out ¬_¬
That said, I do think the fact Fault Milestone One was mentioned at E3 is a good sign, if nothing else because now it's been announced "publicly" maybe they can be held more accountable for it (...and because it's one I'm interested in, even if I already own it on steam).

I wouldn't be at all surprised if all we see from Bamco is more Hollow Realization and Berseria (Edit: Oh, and God Eater). I'd like to see Digimon Next Order though :)

NISA have quite a few things they could announce but I'm not expecting them to make many announcements because they've already got stuff in the pipeline.

Despite that, I'm still hoping they'll announce a dungeon crawler, and there's a pretty good chance considering there's a few that should be available to them.
(Yeah, I picked a Babel screenshot with NIS characters on purpose)
Coven and Labyrinth of Refrain just came out in Japan and is their own title, of course. Then there's Babel, but as I get the impression Abyss didn't sell very while I don't know how likely that is. And of course, now Kadokawa have started talking about Demon Gaze 2 there's a possibility they could as well if things are good between them. The first one had to have sold well enough to please both parties.
Rose is a shoe-in at some point because it doesn't even need much localisation, but I assume they'll wait until after Yomawari for that if only so they can make HtoL#NiQ sound more popular when they market it.

Aksys wise I assume there's a chance they could go for something like Punchline.
(Do you have any idea how hard it was to find screenshots that weren't full of panty shots? Yeesh x_x). I don't think it reviewed very well but it's on PSV and PS4 and they might be able to try and sell it off the back of Zero Escape.

Otome wise I'm wondering if the next otome they go for will be more Hakuoki. It's not necessarily what I want them to release but it did used to be their thing.
Alternatively I'm wondering if they might go for something with name recognition? As much as I don't think I'd enjoy DiaLovers it would probably sell, but I assume as a result it's probably far too expensive.
Maybe something with an anime would be better, like Brothers Conflict or Corda d'Oro? Or then again, maybe the anime would bump up the price of the property too. I don't know.

Now, as for what I want - I want Kenka Bancho Otome because look at this.
It reviewed well, and we can hang out with weird cool guys, get in punchups, and have badass staring laser fights. And I mean, technically Kenka Bancho has name recognition too, right? I mean the PSP game goes on sale all the time... :(

Other than that I'd love to see Wand of Fortune R.
It's so pretty, the guys look interesting, and the heroine is meant to be pretty good :)

In terms of lower key stuff they might be able to get ther hands on I'm wondering if they could go for something like Raishi, a 3DS/Vita strategy game with some violent looking CGs. I don't know what Klon are like to negotiate with but their titles don't look like they're big sellers in Japan either so they might be a little flexible? (And as I just received the vita box set of the first two games it would be typical for someone to announce it had been licensed :p)

I find it a little sad that I honestly draw a blank when asked that question. Maybe these companies will prove me wrong, but I can't think of anything JP-only that I'd want brought over.

Any DRPG from NISA would do!

I want Wand of Fortune R too, and Kenka Bancho Otome :(. DL would be ...terrible :p. WoF R looks so pretty too. Maybe Aksys will surprise us and bring two otome games again.

Who am I kidding. Probably won't even get one.
