The thing is by the time the game releases people will say " they showed everything" or " that's it? No more surprises?" Marketing RPG's without giving out everything is hard work. Good thing about a game like P5 you show off the cast and the gameplay system and you're set since Persona got that quality seal of approval and FF is currently down in the gutter.

Good time to go on a blackout until release.. because gamescom and TGS is danger territory.

You see, it's not as simple as P5 having that seal of approval or anything, but because what it showcased legitimately looked like a fantastic game in development, not to mention fans could notice much improvements over the flaws of previous instalment like weak dungeon design. On the other hand, FFXV failed to impress again and again each time the game is marketed, and the demos aren't quite doing the best job to counter the poor advertisement. For all we know, FFXV could potentially be a good game, but many of us are just not seeing it! I don't want full on spoilers or anything, just show me one solid 10 minutes uninterrupted advanced gameplay in a proper, never before seen dungeon or something. This past E3 for example are filled with so many quick cut and snippets that I don't even know how to assess the gameplay properly, or really rough footage like Microsoft demo.

SE's marketing has been generally terrible with this game. Only those who have been keeping up with the demos and every detail from the interviews have an idea of how the game will play, and even that is still vague.

Those kebabs look delicious... screenshots definitely seem improved over the most recent ones I've seen, hopefully they're using these extra 3 months to 'tighten up the graphics on level 3'.

Can Final Fantasy be more Fantasy again? I don't like cars and such stuff in a FF game. Give me back FF5 and FF6 Style..

Even FF1 had Sci-Fi elements. the evidence of an advanced civilization ran by Robots, a flying city guarded by mechanical sentries (Warmech), I'm specifically talking about the history of the Lufenians, the last functional Robot you receive the Warp Cube to get access to the Flying Castle to fight Tiamat.

Sci-Fi aspects has been littered throughout the series since even the very first game.

^Unfortunatelly accordinng to SE he wasn't western enough.

That shield design looks completely random and out of place.

I think Noctis's weapons are royal artifacts that he's collecting. Looks pretty regal.

Well, we know that the phantom weapons are royal artifacts -- those have a special weapon category though (symbolized by the icon of the sword in the pedestal w/ a roman numeral on it, presumably number of phantom weapon).

Only one we've seen in that category so far in demos is the big shuriken (which was number V in Platinum and number VI in recent screenshots).

I kind wished more recent games implemented the special statuses into the plot in FF.

Could you imagine needing to intentionally cast Mini, Imp, or even Frog on yourself in order to infiltrate an enemy location to collect information or sneak into a facility with very strong exterior security.

The only time this actually was done was way back in FF3 to go into the Mini Village. I think there was one part in FFV which you needed Frog to enter a sewer grate to go through an aqueduct or something.

I could totally see Ignis needing to convince Noctis to turn into a Frog to spy on a Niflheim enemy camp to find plans or what objective is and report back to him in some kind of "Sneak in undetected and disguised" sort minor stealth sequence.

So many pics of randomly fighting random monsters in random wild plains... I seem to remember the previous FFs having much more diverse screenshots before their releases.

Technically it looks good but the art is nothing what I like.
I miss the old titles where the art wasn't that "concrete" and you had to use imagination to translate it to a real world in your mind. This looks like nothing I had ever wanted to imagine.

Some of them, certainly. These seem to all be shots from the first couple hours of the game in Lucis and Duscae. Maybe they're still polishing later regions? Or maybe they've just decided not to show too much from farther on in the game yet.

I totally get this and often feel this way w/ modern games. In my mind, XV has, at least, done a very nice job of translating old stylized monster designs from the series into believable looking 3D creatures.

I think the most exciting thing I have learned about FFXV besides magic customization is the fact that u can change your clothes. I like his OG design but I love RPGS with armor customization

I hope they don't show too much of the second half of the game.

Oddly enough, I feel the same and yet feel like I want to see more! I want to see some other environments we get to explore besides the landscape from Duscae. That, and the mountain, I feel like are the only areas we've seen truly being explored. The world of wonder video was awesome, but couldn't really confirm or convey how much of those landscapes will be explored.

I think it's better to at least show off what the player is actually going to be doing, such as fighting monsters in the fields to push the point that is what you are actually going to do.

It's a much preferable then simply advertising the game by using a collage of CGI cutscenes and non-player controlled elements to create fake hype.

While some folks may like the pretty FMV showcase. That may have worked back in 1997 for FF7's advertising campaign. Players nowadays are a lot more smarter and aren't going to go on just CG without at some of the gameplay mechanics and elements shown off.

I also don't expect Square-Enix to be too liberal with the story as well, as that is one of the big draws of playing these games. If they divulge too many story details that would leave very little for the player to discover for themselves once they sit down and actually start to play this game.

I feel the same, we also haven't seen many dungeons, they have a lot to show yet.

I don't know about that story bit, you definitely can expect a launch trailer with many spoilers. They do that to all of their games.

I made that comment in regards to people taking issue with current images and videos of fighting random monsters in random wild plains.

Considering the alternative could have been CGI footage and fake hype trailers that did not show what the actual game is like.

FMV is pretty but it says nothing about the games mechanics. I find it somewhat refreshing for a change Square has been fairly straight basically showing actual gameplay and combat, which is generally what 75% of the game the player actually does in terms of interaction.

I wasn't strong enough to resist the media blackout during E3, but in the end they hardly revealed anything new than before so it's okay.
But from now on it's bunker time!

Apparently, Nomura did not direct the E3 2013 trailer. It was put together by Tabata and someone else.

HAAHAHAHAHA! Need source now.

Me and many others might be eating some serious crow soon.

Nomura's Versus, FFVII and KH trailers are still vastly superior to recent XV media.
