Impressive.
I wonder why KI isnt more popular though, its fighting mechanics are extremely solid, character diversity is very high, and its very well balanced. I wish more people were into it.
Is it just that SF has been around (and really good) for so long? Can any big SF loving players explain why they dont like KI?
Impressive.

I can tell you one thing: when someone pucks what game they are goung to devote to, they want to know it will be around and revent for years to come. Ki can build that up but it'll take a long time.
The step to PC will go a long way for KIs future, for sure.
Impressive.

Yeah without that it wouldnt have a chance. If it was on steam, that would show thats really cared about the game.
It was exclusive to the Xbox for too long and it's characters are wack. It's a really fun game though. It could never live up to Street Fighter though.
As a player who primarily grew up with Capcom fighters, KI is just kinda boring and uninteresting mechanically for me.
Maybe someone else will chime in with a more indepth answer on the mechanics/style.

Because fighting games are absolutely irrelevant (competitively and sales-wise).
SF5 is the least irrelevant apart from Smash if you consider them to be the same genre. NRS games can sell well. Tekken does well in Asian arcades. The e-sports aspect gets bigger year by year but it's gonna take a while.
KI, an initially Xbox exclusive with (relatively) no-name characters and no history with the competitive community is a small fish in a small pond.
Impressive.

Had KI not fell off the face of the earth since forever, it could have had the time to build its audience. It's almost like having to start from zero where at least street fighter had side games like cvs2, marvel vs, and the ex games to keep the characters at least fresh in people's minds.
Man, there have been a lot of great fighting games that never really made it big. KI is a great game, no doubt. It has had more competitive life than most fighting games.
Personally, I didn't enjoy the combo breaker aspect of it. Relied too much on mindgames and guesses for me.Sure, it does all right, I guess Im just mostly curious why people who play capcom fighters havent jumped all over it, since its fairly similar mechanically.
The other thing is as a spectator sport, I think KI is easier to follow and flashier which makes it really exciting to watch, but I dont see enough people in the tournament threads talking about it.
MS poured millions into KI e-sports.Why hasn't KI hit it big? Big how? In tourneys? MONEY. =P
Amazing how a single shitpost can diverge a discussion of great news.
Congrats to SFV
Way to cover your bases, man.We planned for a 5600 man tournament!
What makes it even crazier is that , in terms of these 5k players, it's not even really 3 days. EVO historically goes from Street Fighter pools all the way to top 8 on Friday. One day. Unless they're switching it up, that will be an incredible feat if they pull it off this year.
Outside of content SFV plays very well which is the most important thing when it comes to these events so whats your point?
Then again SFV has received fktons of flak and bad user reviews. It doesn't help that the original games just weren't very good.
However, it seems like MK has overtaken SF in popularity. Also it doesn't explain Mahvel and Injustice since the comic brands are huge now.The next popular games at Evo after SFV are Smash, Smash and Pokken.
Brand is the most important thing
And in the end, it will still be Infiltration x Tokido.

That would not explain Melee then... my head hurts. It's because they're old games that don't get support anymore.
i'm in to watch woolie fail again.

For me, EVO started as a Capcom-centric event so it is a tradition. KI is a new face challenger.

SFV costume and color selects to take longer than smash button checks confirmed

Mr. Wizard was encouraging people to sign up earlier this week...trying to hit that 5000k mark before the deadline.
So, either they're more prepared than we think, or they're crazy.
For us casual scrubs I think visiting evo is the best experience. I would like to visit evo oneday lol. But I am believe in you bro that you won't go 0-2. But have fun man which is the most important part imo.It worked for me ... people kept re-tweeting that comment about a fast approaching deadline and I said FINE and I signed up for SFV despite being total ass at the game. I mostly just wanted a vacation and figured I may as well play a game briefly while I'm there. This year is going to be HUUUGE.
UMvC3 is hella old at this point. Hell, it's a miracle that it outlived USFIV.Then again SFV has received fktons of flak and bad user reviews.

Ki not sf5 deserves that amount.
Mad respect. I mean it.We planned for a 5600 man tournament!
