I know they probably don't want to spoil the good stuff, but still scenes more in line with urgency of the plot would be nice.

I'm starting to fear the open world structure design will damage its presentation and story delivery... hoping I'm wrong .\

I don't think these are bullshots, they're just small size which makes the IQ look better than it is.

Here's how Episode Duscae (even lower res than finished game) looks with same size screenshots.

Rockefellers. Skull and Bones. Microsoft. Al Qaeda. A Cabal of Bankers. The melting point of steel. What do these things have in common? Wake up sheeple, the landfill wasn't even REAL!

I think it'd be cool if Ravus turned out to be a anti-hero like Vegeta.

Again, I don't really have a problem with Ravus' game design. I do prefer the classier vibe he seems to have in KG.

LET'S GO!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS IS MAKING ME GRIN SO HARD RIGHT NOW. DIALOGUE OPTIONS, MY BOY.

Yeah, that's pretty nice.

"New Duscae Screenshots"

Oh boy I'm already sick of Duscae area, we've seen it too much. I hope we won't stay there for too long in the final game.

I'm so glad all we see are screens from there. I like to be surprised playing lengthy RPGS, makes it an actual adventure of discovery that way.

That made FFXII magnifiscent to me bc I never even knew about the game till I found it at a store as a kid

This guy looks like a villain.

For some reason he reminds me of that guy in FFXIII whom I think was a good guy but then turned into a boss... for some reason? Eh...

*sigh* This looks really bad.

Remember when Square used to be on the cutting edge of graphics and art by producing stunning looking games like Final Fantasy 8?

Don't be too hard on it. It's a lot easier to be on the cutting edge of graphics when you're not just trying to eek out a return on a development hell project like Versus XIII/XV.

Iris is just the cutest, can't wait to see her sibling dynamic with Gladio now that she's older.

I still miss Kingsglaive's Jamie Ravuster, but Ravusroth definitely seems to be a lot more gaunt and thin-lipped than in his Versus XIII days. I do like the arm, though.

I like the FFXII-esque hunting missions.

Can't wait!

god. damn. you.

I did not need this association.

Hmm like others have stated,im a little worried about frame rate here.Although I know DF said it was a solid 30...guess we will find out soon

Well a vertical slice of the game maintained a solid 30.

The jury isn't out yet on the full game.

One of the developers tweeted that they hadn't been back to their apartment for a long time. So I'm sure they're bringing sleeping bags to work and pulling all nighters to make sure the game ships in a respectable state!

If only we had that Scorpio and Neo around the time of its release. We wouldn't have to cope with nasty nasty aliasing, framedrops and all kinds of other uglies. But I am still looking forward to it. Hard to believe it's only two more months now.

Graphics are bullshit compared to the demos I've played. The frame rate was absolutely atrocious in both, and I highly doubt this will run at even 25fps, looking half as good.

You are aware that those were demos/tech pieces? 1 being something created more than a year of the game's final release and the other created by two members of the team. The recent footage was running smoothly at E3.

Yeah the E3 footage ran quite decent indeed. I wonder if the image quality has been improved too. But there's only so much you can do with the hardware of these two consoles.

I just hope the game turns out well and fun in the end. It's been a goddamn long time in development and it's kind of a miracle it's actually happening. But these days we have a lot of open world games and it's never guaranteed that it's going to work for the particular game. I didn't find the first FFXV exactly all that fun in terms of the sidequests, really all very standard stuff.

Hope this game world is fun to explore and plenty to see and do.

All I want for this series is for one of the overdressed, ridiculous villains to be forced through some kind of stupid coincidence to have to go talk to Noctis and crew in a burger joint. Like he's trying to be all mysterious and Auron it up and the camera just pans out to someone serving him a burger and fries.

And some ketchup spills on his bare chest window.

No one should expect this to run perfectly and sometimes it's annoying when that's all people focus on. People gave TW3 so much shit just cause it ran bad in some areas. I expect the same here (towns probably won't run at a constant 30fps).

I remember back before FFVII was released, it had some of the biggest hype for any game I've ever seen in the "people get their info from magazines, not the internet" era.

Many magazines had 10+ page spreads of FFVII multiple times, and I remember thinking they were spoiling the game. But about 95% of the pictures were from Midgar and they really never showed off much of anything in the grand scheme of the game.

I get the same vibe here. We are getting a LOT of pictures/videos/demos from the Duscae area but I think, like back with FFVII, we are just seeing "Midgar".

As for people complaining about the screenshots (either because they think it looks bad, or because they think it's PC):

One, I personally think it looks great, and if this is what the PS4 version looks like, I'll be happy.

Two, the game is huge and if anything like previous FF games, has a lot of variety in locations, something most huge open world games don't really have, meaning there are a lot of assets the development team has to ensure are up to standards. I can guarantee some parts of the world won't be as impressive as others technically, but that's the way it is with ALL big/long graphically intensive games. The more assets there are, the more difficult it is to offer extreme universal polish.

From a technical standpoint, barring a disaster, FFXV will almost certainly be the best looking JRPG ever released.

not sure what people aren't liking in these screens

lod is poor, but it's an open world game, and everything that you should be focusing on in those screens looks good. obviously the iq is thanks to downsampling to the low size but I don't think anything in those screens looks terrible. I also don't think they're out of range of PS4 capability.

even a moderate downsample (900p -> 576p) can look very sharp if you use the right scaling settings, so I don't think they're doing super bullshots.

The demos of unfinished builds of the game, one of which was 1,5 years before the release of the game. These complaints are getting ridiculously stupid. A bih part of a game's optimization often happens during the last stretches of development. That a couple of demos 6 and 18 months before release weren't perfect aren't any kind of indication what a finalized product can be like. And Episode Duscae's framerate far from attrocious, that's ridiculous hyperbole.

Am i the only one that thinks its a little weird that 4 dudes are going into the countryside randomly stabbing wild animal with swords.

More like it's easier to be on the "cutting edge" of graphics when environments are pre-rendered small rooms with loading screens every 5-10 seconds and characters made of 15 polygons vs. creating a living, breathing, seamless world with incredible detail everywhere. FFXV is plenty cutting edge. You'd have to be ignorant as fuck to claim otherwise.

Do you think it would be less weird if four girls (or whatever combination of women and men you want) stabbed wild life with swords?

Pretty much every RPG ever, but funny thing is, FFXV somehow is the first game where I really feel sorry for some of the monsters :( Maybe because they look more realistic and some didn't even attack you on their own in Episode Duscae, but then 4 guys beat them to death :'(

Rip in peas, Garulas.
