I don't know how to feel about this... I really want 1080p titles from Nintendo.

There's no reason a Tegra chip couldn't produce great looking 1080p games. The odds of this machine being a bog standard Tegra X1 are pretty low. Nvidia doesn't have the same business model as AMD. They aren't going to directly sell Nintendo chips. They are selling them a license to use Nvidia's technology to build their own Chip. Nintendo will partner with them and have a lot of design input, and Nvidia will be able to assist them in developing their low level software environment to get the best performance out of the hardware.

I'm going to call bogus too. Sounds like what GAF has been echoing for ages, and given what Nintendo has said to investors (who they cannot lie to), it's contradictory to certain goals that they're attempting to accomplish with NX. Not to mention the entire concept just sounds implausible because of how not-portable the thing is, as well as being too complex for casuals to want to latch onto it, like the Wii U.

I'd just wait for Nintendo to reveal the actual thing first, because I imagine many of the rumours are pretty far off-base from what the NX really is.

as usual an interesting concept from nintendo, I'll certainly bite sooner or later

does it run zelda better than the wiiu? sooner, bought on launch, with a nice pro controller
does it run zelda worse? later, when several cool games have beenreleased

also: I for one welcome our cartridge overlords, missed them and I am very excited about them

Super quick n dirty possible ergo version.

Something like this, that obviously closes much smaller, this is just an example.

Yes, this is more likely

Yes it seems that 's what everyone would like. That and an incredible line up.

But i have a feeling, or a concern that it's too simple for Nintendo. There is no big ideas here, something to lure mainstreams, to create curiosity (like motion control, 3d etc..).

So they could do the logical good thing but they will screw it up with some silly idea..

I just realized we might still have hope for a new Pokemon Snap now. One that can massively expand on the features of the original in console mode, while utilizing things like streetpass and AR on the go.

A handheld that can project to a TV and have a game library equivalent to the 3DS AND WII U COMBINED???

SIGN ME THE FUCK UP!

That's like the most important thing ever for me.

One Mario Kart / Smash / Mario Party / Animal Crossing / etc. per generation, doubling as handheld and console games would leave space for sooooo many new IPs and the return of old series.

I can legit believe Nintendo could put out one game per month all year long. The library of first party games would be crazy.

I have a shield TV and it can play Borderlands 2 at 1080 with no problems.

I really don't like the idea of that detachable controller... It's more easy to have a separate controller you can buy, and this thing will have a weird ergonomic, i can feel it.. That's making things less good for the sake of having a "concept". I do not like that.

That's simple Nintendo.

Portable >> 199$
TV kit (Classic pad + Hard Drive + ram + tv out) >> 99$

Sounds like an nvidia sheild lineup.... honestly I rather just have a new version of that and have Nintendo go 3rd party

I'm just going to assume/delude myself into thinking that there's a standalone home console as well that doesn't require the handheld to function...

..rather than continue to be irritated by this leak.

I hope they make the controller snap together easily, make it magnetic.

Also hope they don't price themselves out of their own market again.

Same here. Would love to see the teams be able to stay on a project for longer and extend the games with substantial post-release updates. Still mad that Nintendo never made DLC for Animal Crossing to add more bugs, fish, etc.

New Shield Tablet and possibly portable are coming his Fall.

Ha this is cool it will remind me of my old game and watch systems that had the cute circle controllers with the wire spool built in. God I wish I kept those now for my kids.

Day 1 for me if this is legit!

No offense to artists here but I have yet to see a mock-up of the proposed design that I actually like, the concept is that inherently awful.

So you would have select which games are stored on the hard drive and which are stored on the handheld's internal storage? Do you have to transfer between the two all the time? How many games can you store on the handheld? I think you're wrong on this being too simple for Nintendo. I think it's actually too confusing for them. It's not a seamless experience.

We had pretty reliable people state XBO/PS4 games can be ported with little to no trouble. So there has to be enough power available in some way to make it feasible.

As for Tegra they could very well be getting the Parker variant. Nvidia needs a massive win in the Tegra line and locking up Nintendo with their best chip could be the win they need.

Heh, I got (justifiably) juniored when I started a thread to speculate the NX may be a weaker GPU than the Wii U.

Welp!

Edit: link, http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1087023&highlight=

It's a handheld not a console if it just streams to tv.

If they are planning for some kind of box to make it more powerful and act as console, Than we can speak of a hybrid system. Still if it's weaker as wiiu than it would be stupid.

But thats not the case at the moment, sorry

I'm curious what the controller will look like, how it looks and feels as a handheld controller, but also a detached controller. The article says that it is bookend by two controllers, wonder if that is two seperate controllers to allow two players - which mean two uniformed controllers, or just one controller acting as a remote and nunchuck.

Going to be interesting from a design standpoint to accommodate both.

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage

Right. So that either means

A) Greater than Tegra X1 chip

or

B) Dock provides extra power

so nintendo is basically going hard to follow up with their handheld line. makes sense given they'll probably get the most support from japan anyway.

this is pretty close to the concept in the fake oval design too. i wonder if the main hub of this can be used in other ways.

Reminds me of the AMD Discovery concept, hopefully the NX will be sleeker though lol. Anyway I dig having one platform but time will tell, wonder if there will be a subscription/account system to unify it as well

There is another aspect to this that I think is very very interesting: Multiplayer portable games. That is a game changer right there. The fact that kids can play 2p Mario Kart, NSMB or Smash with just one device could create a lot of synergy and word of moth for the device.

The fact that it seems you can detach the screen and it has a stand is pretty brilliant too. It may change the way we play on the go.

Eh i am strangely okay with this. Like some people said before i got my PS4 and X1 for power. With Nintendo i like them doing their thing. I love ly Wii U and it gets played often. I am sure Nintendo will deliver.
