No Man's Sky Spoiler Thread

But you have to understand people that are excited from one side and worried from another.
I'm one of them. Sean was always like "we will show you just the scrap of the game, but there is much much more in it". So far, from what I'm reading, it isn't and the whole game is just too simple.
I hope, that poeple who are playing it, just didn't reached the "source" of the game and they are still exploring the boundries of galaxies :)

I have the limited version in pre-order (PS4) and I'm really hoping I won't be disapointed with it.

Is the Trophy list out yet?

Way too simple IMO.

So all in all it's what we all have expected... An overhyped mediocre game?
I'm reading everything about NMS right now, from people who play already and it doesn't look good so far.

I think you're stretching it. I've said this since day 1, the people that were asking "what do you do" were not going to like the game, simply because all it is, is exploring random planets. It's mostly about being curious to see what the program generates and visiting and seeing all the different combinations. To me that's dull as dirt. There are a few things scattered in here and there to give it more gamey features, but the main draw is how "infinite" it is.

What I'll also give you is over hyped. Sony propped this up giving it a stage demo at their conference and it had huge presence on the floor that year too. It really took off from there, but a lot of people could see where that was headed.

Well, after watching more footage it's clear the streamers have no clue how upgrading works. Someone on the other thread explained it quite well.

Can't wait to put my hands on it.

Yeah for sure Patricko. I'm sure there are many like you that are excited yet worried. I'm one of them. This is the only game I've been this excited for in a long time. If I didnt enjoy it that would suck big time.

For me it's the explorer in me that fascinates me about this game. I feel like from what I have seen I won't be disappointed. I'm just tempering my expectations about the depth of the games other areas like the combat or the narrative. The crafting and controls seem decent enough and the sense of danger from the environment seems enpugh to keep me on my toes when wandering too far from my ship.

I guess it really depends on what you want out of this game.

I also look forward to seeing this game evolve over time. I have a feeling this game may look quite different by this time next year rolls around.

I also get that some people just arent going to like it. And if you were someone really looking forward to this and it ends up falling flat for any of us that will suck balls.

If you are expecting Uncharted call of duty mass effect space adventure game you will be disappointed

lol

Some.... person.... actually pulled me into Twitch PM to tell me how his opinions about NMS were superior to everyone elses, including the developers.

I dunno. It basically looks exactly how I thought it would.

Same. I was expecting to be anything really revolutionary. That'll be NMS2.

No loading as far as I can see, everything is seamless so far. There appears to be a bit of an atmospheric bubble - but I don't remember seeing it on the more barren world, so maybe it's an atmospheric thing. There's a fair amount of draw-in as you approach the surface.

Thanks!

Anyone feeling more excited because of these streams and leaks than they were before?

I am!

Yeah, this 3rd party stuff is selling game to me a lot more than any official PR they have done. I don't know tho as it really isn't anything different, I guess it is because real gameplay instead of scripted and pre-planned showings.

It hasnt been spoiled yet. The one dude who reached it didnt want to share it with the internet.

What about the
death stranding style
picture? and I thought someone had told us that getting to the center resulted in
getting transported to a new galaxy
? or am I just getting lost in the carnival of stupid?

Getting to the center transports you to the center of the Spore galaxy.

Can I get a "No Man's Sky - What it is, spoiler free" thread please? K Thx.

I want to know what this game is, I don't want it spoiled (secrets) and I know if I look that I'm going to learn something I don't want to. Maybe best to wait for reviews...

Spoiler free impression is...it looks like the game it's been shown to be.

Ugh, the whole game's subreddit is a clusterfuck, between the mod's major shitpost and some people's posts about how they don't care or believe the leaks and they'll just enjoy this masterpiece i don't know what's worse. So much denial.

Not me. But I was always a bit sceptical about the hype. Overall the game seems to be fine but thanks to the leaks I know that I won't finish it because I'll get bored with collecting resources for dozen of hours, I was more interested in the the flying around and exploring parts. I also thought that by reaching the center more and more people would start to stumble upon each other and some sort of community would start to build.
Still interested in it though, just not 60€ interested. I'll buy it during a steam sale to have some fun before the grind for resources bore settles in.

I'm a little confused as to what people thought it was going to be.

There was this little game played between Sean and fans in which what they showed was just a small bit of the game and a lot of people went crazy with the imagination. You could fill a science-fiction encyclopedia with the theories about the centre of the galaxy. Still I don't understand why Sean fueled this insanity, though. Looks like a boomerang PR now.

Edit:

Nah man. This game will get there eventually. Minecraft isnt the same game now as it was when it came out. I hope NMS get a similar treatment. *fingers crossed*

I don't understand how you can post "I'm a little confused as to what people thought it was going to be" and this in the same discussion.

He fueled that shit because hype sells copies and at the end he wants game to sell a lots.

Haha yeah, lots of crazy theories. What should Sean do though? Spoil the games ending to stop people from speculating?

We dont even know if thats the end of the game.

How so?

I hope this game gets good post release support and added features but I sure as shit know what I'm getting into at release.

Minecraft is carried forward by the building aspect and players' imagination running wild with that. There isn't too much freedom to model the world with NMS. But I get your point now, if you're talking about the post launch support, not the content itself.

The thing is, it's not just post launch support for Minecraft. That game spent almost more time in open alpha/beta than in release. It was created with fan feedback and transparency. The creators of this game have been as opaque as possible and they're releasing the game fully, as is. Anything they add later isn't likely to be as game changing as Minecraft alpha -> release version.

But yes, I agree that the lack of player expression will prevent this one from being as big as MC.

Yeah I just heard Sean Murray in an interview talking about how if the game sells well they will be able to continue working on extra features with the game and he used Minecraft as an example for great post release support. He's already said they have a plan to add a more traditional MP aspect to the game post release but who knows what else they have planned or will be able to pull off. I dont know if base building would be something they could pull off but I'm sure they could come up with something.

If the game is a hit and they can hire more staff and shit to work on new things for the game, I can see it having some good staying power.

Time will tell I guess. I'm just being hopeful here.

They said they will be listening to the community and seeing what things they want added. I hope it all works out.

Edit: but ya what nynt9 said. Eh. We will see how it turns out I guess.

A few concerns:

I'm not keen on how fast you progress in the game. That Journeyman progression needs slowing down by at least 75%.

Because of the other vid I'd like to see money earned to be reduced by 50% and the cost of things increased by 50%

I'm a little disappointed with the amount of elements there seems to be. This might change as you progress through the galaxies but as of right now there seems to be too few. I'm sure Sean said about how he'd like to see the community get together to work out how all the elements work and what combinations do what but from the footage I've seen so far it doesn't look very complex or difficult.

Other than that though, it's exactly as I'd expect. In some regards it's better because I wasn't sure how mountainous or complex the topography would be and it's just what the doctor ordered.

"Original leaker" already established that without selling those Atlas(?) stones you will be grinding days for money because raw materials have next to no value. You want make game extremely grindy and boring? Why?

Get it on pc and you can most likely mod it to be exactly like you want.
