No Man's Sky Spoiler Thread

It means that the game gives players the illusion of being in a freeform galaxy which should be a roughly circular shape where everyone approaches the center from the edges; whereas the truth is that everyone has their own corridor in which they go straight and cross-player interaction would be simulated by instance sharing. Programmatically, the latter is a lot easier to implement.

Of course, this is inferred by daymeeuhn's comments and then by adding some more assumptions on top of it and should not be taken as fact.

This would also make the multiplayer idea make some sense, because they could control the rate at which people occupy the same area, instead of just leaving it 100% to random chance.

Yeah, in general it makes so much of the math easier and still gives players the impression of a giant Galaxy. Pretty brilliant idea.

I think that theory is assuming that everyone is starting on the same side.

Imagine each galaxy like a basketball. Now draw a small square on one side of it. Your theory seems to be saying that everyone starts somewhere within that square and travels towards the center.

I think that it's possible to start at any point on the edge of the sphere of said basketball.

I knew this game was hyped beyond belief as game designers want to add so much to a game but it all takes time, man power and money. So it looks like the same has no real depth and most things have been scaled back or cut.

Why do people never learn?

The guy playing in this current new stream is the Trevor to our previous Micheal and Franklin. He's murdering everything he sees.

Because we don't get enough posts like this. I really appreciate even people tell it like it really is. Woosa

The game wasnt scaled back or cut. The internet is what made up all the hype and bullshit about the game, with grandiose expectations of a product that was never intended to be made from the start.

What was promised then taken out?

Some real depth with "procedural generated planets" then ships which had different roles and lack of real customization, how planets galaxies universe is set out and process works.

Half baked and full with bugs.

also the nomanssky subreddit was acting like the game was the second coming of christ and even that hug box is coming to terms.

The dude only bought one new ship and still has the initial gun. I don't think you can call the devs out on lack of variety customisation yet.

We don't know whether there are ships that can specialize in different things. And define 'depth' for procedural planets. As for that last statement, I don't think they ever stated hwo that stuff works.

So..there was nothing taken out? Atleast nothing that people didn't make up in speculation?

You got all of that from the brief leaks we have seen?

Yeahh....okay buddy.

I was thinking of it more as there is no actual, 3-Dimensional Galaxy. I.e. It is not possible to map all of the systems positionally to each other in full, instead the game generates a slice of galaxy for each player, that is sort of faked into looking like an entire galaxy by cross pollinating some elements across games, and probably some sleight of hand from warping/flying/map view.

Otherwise, all of those social systems would likely go to waste. You could easily play the full game and never run into any other planet that was touched by any other player. This ensures there are at least some to find, and practically speaking, there is little difference between 2 million and 2 quadrillion planets for the average player.

Brief leaks? guy who has been playing it for 2-3 days now, look I don't care buy the game and see for yourself, cycle of neogaf happens with every game hype it, buy play it then drop it.

Still remember destiny and the division.

At least on the brightside you wont have to deal with deaths

Subnautica is a game I would recommend instead.

Any of the footage show somebody flying upside down while flying over a planet? I want to skim the surface upside and do other dumb shit if possible.

Destiny fell off for me, but it's still got the most OTs I've seen yet.

Yo, can I traverse space in subnautica?

One the galactic map, what does the line connect planets represent? Is it the suggested path to the center? Or just a line to the next closest planet? It doesn't seem to connect all of them.

I believe its the stars that you can currently reach with your hyperdrive. At least I'm pretty sure thats what it is.

I think it's a combination. Certainly many players were expecting too much, and honestly I should probably include myself in that category.

However, some things don't quite match what Sean has said in the past. He claimed only 10% of planets would have life, but that is obviously much higher(perhaps even every planet has it). Granted, some might like having life on each planet, but I kind of wish it was more rare.

He also claimed planets would become much more strange as players get to the center. Perhaps this will be true for some, but it doesn't appear to be the case for the first player.

The many bugs and glitches can hopefully be fixed, so that isn't as big a deal.

I'm still planning to get the game though and look forward to playing it. Granted, I admit I'm going to get sick of seeing life on pretty much every planet.

It's the route to the center. There are also lines for the current stars that can be reached.

What horseshit is this? The guy was racing to finish first for the sake of being first. Almost nobody is going to play the game that way. And Subnautica? Come the hell on. I love that game but it's not remotely on the level of NMS in terms of scope. Talk about limited variety after a couple of hours.

Nothing was cut. There's nothing missing. They delivered exactly the game they've shown over and over again. There really is no hype for this game beyond people excited to play it for themselves. The developer has been extremely careful to manage expectations throughout the process. The only people making up nonsense that isn't in the game to be disappointed by are people already planning to tear it down in the first place.
