Wait a sec, how do you save on PC? Played 20 minutes, then restarted to apply graphic setting changes and everything I got is gone!!!

You have to visit a save point thingy. It doesn't autosave. It does save every time you get out of your ship though, I think. But that's about it, AFAIK. I know for a fact it doesn't even save when you warp to a new system, until you get out of your ship on a planet.

You save by entering/exiting a ship (even the crashed one) or using a save post

Entering ship doesn't save, only exiting.

Occasional stutter at the beginning, CPU can get hammered pretty hard from time to time (70% load on all threads).

Playing at 2400x1350 downsampled to 1080p with 100 FOV (picture just in 900p for size reasons). 60fps are so far steady. 1800p runs at 30-40fps.

So what a a bad port to you?

Cause I see:
restarting the game for graphic option changes
Crashes from many people
Stuttering out the gate for people with gtx 1080 even
FOV option is not working
really bad 21:9 support
Funky alt-tabbing

In the first 30 minutes of release.

No prelaunch review codes given out either.

Um, that's a feature of the PS4 too. Please remove this bulletpoint.

Doesn't look good. Bargain bin and in two years after patches it is then. I'm off to play some Dark Souls 3^^

Well, looks like I'm not getting this. I wanted to give Hello Games the benefit of the doubt even with all the bad reviews because I love relaxing exploration in games, but I'm not going to put up with a crummy port when I have so many other options for crafting/survival/exploration games on Steam.

A real shame, but I guess I should've seen this coming considering how small Hello Games is.

Bummer so many people are having problems.

Being able to refund over stuff like this is why steam is #1 in terms of customer satisfaction though. I probably will refund this when I get home.

Silly question but how do you craft the carite sheet? I press x on keyboard while highlighting and empty inventory slot and all it does is let me transfer items.

Edit: I have the iron required for it.

Running very smooth on my system still. 90+ FPS on a 6700k, 980Ti, 32g ram. Using a 144hz 1440p g-sync monitor and have turned off G-sync. Here are some screens:

Weird that I'm having so much better performance than so many people.

I had real bad stuttering before I switched from 60fps lock to max fps lock...

That would imply a bad vsync implementation which could easily explain the hitching people are experiencing.

Well after all the communication failures, feature cutbacks and the PC port being simply crap, HG went from my "good indie" list to my shitlist. Sorry.

On my 970 TI - massive massive issues seems to be "Stuck on a low resolution" FPS of 9 or so.

On my alienware steam machine running windows FPS of 14 and also stuck on a low resolution.

sigh. My ps4 version runs perfectly and smoothly.

There's quite a few beacons that let you summon your ship to that location, and a save point at almost every point of interest, most of which are 1-2 minutes by foot and show up in your scanner

Anyways. Disappointing to hear about performance issues. This was my fear, I think they should have pushed back the PC release until it was more ready.

Performs fine for me. I'm running and i7 4790k with a gtx 970 and 32 gigs of ram. haven't cranked up the shadows though.

Shame about the performance. I was ready to give this game a chance even with the mixed reviews. But all this hitching is unacceptable. A disastrous PC port will kill a game quicker than middling reviews.

Great screenshot! Too bad the port seems to be pretty bad :/

Trying to run at 60fps on my 980ti/i7 4790k is pretty difficult if we are counting the stuttering and spikes. Despite resolution (1080 / 1440), and in using nvidia vsync and locking with RTSS, still get the huge stutters.

Looking at the tb stream, the occasional frame drop looks like a chunk loading issue. Basically bad multithreading.

after changing the settings and restarting the stuttering seems to have calmed down. It's still there but not terrible. I have all settings maxed, changed the default anti-aliasing to SMAA and I'm running it at 1440 locked at 60FPS since that's all my IPS monitor will output anyway.
