No Mans Sky | PC Performance Thread

No hyperbole, but he is legitimately impossible for me to listen to. I'm sitting here at my desk at work visibly uncomfortable because I feel like I've been yelled at for the short amount of time I watched his stream. I dunno, not my thing I guess? I don't get it. If I wanted an angry man yelling at me while playing videogames I'd go play Overwatch ranked or something.
same tbh, I don't get it either.

btw, quoting for those who may not have seen:
Fixed my stutter and getting consistent 16.6ms 60fps at 1080p on my i5 4690k/GTX 970 rig — at least while walking around this first planet. I'll update once I can fly.

In-game settings:
Window Mode: Fullscreen
Monitor: Primary
Resolution: 1920x1080
V-Sync: Off
Anti Aliasing: SSSA x 4
FoV (both): 90
Anisotropic Filtering: 16
Texture Detail: High
Shadow Detail: Medium
Generation Detail: High
Reflection Quality: Low
Max FPS: Max

Nvidia Inspector settings:
Vsync: Force On
Triple Buffering: Enabled
FXAA Usage: Enabled
FXAA: On

With my general 60fps cap in RTSS.

We'll see how it holds up.
this fixed my inconsistent frametimes completely. There is still occasional stutter but it is much more like the usual open world stutter rather than indications of something being wrong.

Quick and dirty one. Sucks it's not working well for everyone, but it's legit fine for me

In short, game is broken atm!?

Mixed. Some have crashes and cant play the game, some like me both cant play the game AND have it lock up my PC forcing a reboot. Some people have smooth framerates after settings changes like setting vsync to off, some dont have it help at all and can play but with hitching or poor fps.

Would really like to hear from someone with a less than stellar PC... Can't afford to upgrade just yet so I'm still on a FX 8350 and a GTX 760. Something tells me my rig, even with tweaks, won't cut it...

This. Everyone is saying that works almost perfect in a computer with a i7 Skylake CPU and a high end nvidia GPU. I mean, no shit.

Watching the day9tv stream that just began and he's having issues, but he's being super chill about it. Just laughing and joking as he tweaks settings.

Forced to refund for now.

I'm running an i5 6500k OC'd to 4.5 and a 980ti with 16 gb of ram, constant dips to below 20 fps, micro stuttering when loading in anything thats not in view, games hiccuping for about 1-2 seconds every so often.

Really a mess in my opinion, didn't buy this on ps4 was waiting to play it on pc.

I tried everything, dropping everything to low, turning vsync off, framerate to max borderless window etc, couldn't get it to run smooth.

Really upset this was at the top of my want list for like 2 years now.
This is really concerning to me, as I'm running a i7 4790k and a 1070. These issues weren't fixed even following the tips in the OP?

Will have to go home and try on my real rig later. But giving a quick test on my work PC -

XEON Quad Core W3540 @ 3GHz
12GB RAM
GTX 660

Ran like crap at first.

Dropped my resolution to 900p bordeless. Turned off V-Sync, set frame rate to max. Enabled VSync and AF to 16X in Nvidia control panel.

Runs great now. Average 45 fps (it's an old card). But the stutters seem to be gone. I am sure I could set to half vSync (30fps) and it would be smooth at 30fps (same as PS4 right?).

I have a GTX 1080 at home so will test for real later.

Looking to me that while it's not a great port, a few very simple (and the first things I always try with frame rate issues in new games) it runs pretty great.

I think people can stop panicking!

I'm running this on my gaming laptop at around 60fps with no stuttering!

Intel i76700HQ 3GHz
16GB RAM
Geforce GTX 970M
Windows 10 64 bit

I did the following

To make changes to Graphics Options you have to hold down the mouse button to confirm.
- For Stuttering, make sure to disable V-Sync and remove the 30FPS Cap.
- Set the game to Borderless Window (might help with alt+tab issues)
- Force Anisotropic Filtering to x16 into your graphics control panel.

I'm running the game at 1280 x 720. All settings max except for Medium Shadows.

So what will it take for one of yall to break into a free cam? A couple of us believe that there is not character model at all in this game and it may just be a literal floating gun seeing as you can't even see your hands or arms at all. Yes, 3rd and 1st person models are different, but I would like to know.

Sometimes I feel like a crazy person when everyone is having these issues but me. Not saying they don't exist, it's just weird seeing "the sky is falling" type posts when my copy is running totally fine. lol

That's right.

I mean sometimes I was getting 90+ fps, but as soon as I moved, jumped or entered a building or scanned or did anything really it was hiccuping all over the place.

I spent an hour with it loading in and out trying to change things, couldn't get it any better and with the two hour time limit I was forced to refund.

Why have I been forsaken? My game keeps crashing, mainly in the options menu, but even avoiding it I still can't make any progress. It's probably happened 5 times now in an hour. Win 10/GTX 980/i7 latest drivers/updates.

You probably got lucky and have a build very similar to what Hello Games used.
