I hope SE takes a serious beating from this. I'm sorry but this game is becoming more and more of a joke and I'm tired of it. I knew Tabata would be a wash.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is almost here. SE is giving us a different game to play instead.

HAHAHHA fucking SE. What a dumpster fire. Why even have an event if the game needs more time? Just delay it until next year please.

Because they were probably sure the game would be ready. I mean why would any game announce a release date and then have to delay. Let's not get crazy. I guess it's the cool thing to shit on SE but they've honestly been turning things around.

We get world of FF, and other games from them. If they need more time they need it.

Thanos acquires the fully powered Infinity Gauntlet in The Avengers: Infinity War, but loses when all the superheroes team up together to stop him.
I was kind of looking forward to playing it exactly a year after MGSV

Actually, I'm not skipping DQVII anymore after this, but I'll have to skip either DQBuilders or WoFF because of this delay. Time to re-organize my gaming backlog for this fall.

Tabata is a wash because he delayed the game by 2 month? Then what are other devs delayed their game for even longer (Persona 5 for example, but also many other).
It's a better decision than releasing it unpolished.

SE royally fucked up. That event in March to reveal the release date, the timing of the movie all that gone to hell. It's a good decision if the game needs it but it's still a huge fuck up.

I agree with people that I prefer them to delay the game if it is still unfinished, but it is just so annoying that they would give a definitive date for this game if they weren't completely sure. Look at Sony's TLG: they refused to give anything more than a release year to avoided delay disappointment. SE should have handed it that way until they knew for 100 percent when it'd be ready. That's my gripe with this delay.

Once a delay happens, it throws any subsequent release date into doubt.

You want them to take a beating for potentially making a better game. Yet I'm sure you'd be just as upset if the game launched with problems.

and no the only people that think this game is a joke are people on message boards. Generally public doesn't give a shit. If they are interested in it they'll pick it up.

Again people said the same shit after the 3rd Uncharted 4 delay. It didn't stop people from being hyped.

Those projects didn't started ten years ago...

I don't see how that matters at all. Development was rebooted for this game in 2012, and has had steady development and has now gotten it's first delay. It's true that Square-Enix screwed up and twiddled their thumbs for 6 years with Versus but I don't see how that matters here.

Square got massively arrogant with its marketing campaign. This game will bomb solely because they spent too much trying to grab broad appeal for a game in a niche genre.

As cliché as it sounds but:

Preorder of Deluxe Edition cancelled.

I was so waiting for that great experience to first watch the Kingslglaive blu-ray on the 30th and then play the game. Now I'm going to watch Kingsglaive somewhere else before and buy the normal game edition when it comes out...if it comes out. Less great experience for me, less money for SE.

They're kind of shmucks too, especially since like with Atlus they kept quiet for so ridiculously long.

But at least most other devs don't do a release date event like SE did. Totally laughable now.

Not doubting, but it took a whole day to get a tiny photo of one page of a pamphlet, could have shown us the rest of it, just so it is undeniable.

Technically there was no release date before, but come on....this game has been effectively delayed for a very long time and development was apparently restarted. This is just a brief further delay, it'll be in your hands in November.

Delays which aren't just for marketing reasons are totally fine. If they need more time to make a better game, the end result is good for us.

I've waited more than 10 years, I can wait another 2 months.

It won't bomb. It's a mainline Final Fantasy. Now, it won't sell 10 million copies or whatever they want it to sell, but I think people believed that before.

November will be here, and people will still say the game looks like shit, gameplay sucks yada yada yada and they'll want SE to push it back another 2 months.

Tell me I'm lying

I never think forcing a game out is the best option, far from it. I'd rather things get delayed to be fixed.

There comes a point though where it is completely acceptable to criticise the way a company has handled a project, expectations and basically reality. Another delay for this game is the king of all pies on Squares face. They should not have held a fucking release date party unless they were 100% locked in stone.

If Sony went and delayed TLG again now I'd be firing them the same tune.

Things WERE locked in stone at the time. They did not lie about the date any more than Neil Druckmann lied that Uncharted 4 would be out in holiday 2015. Game development is hard. Shit happens at the last minute that nobody could have ever predicted. The tiniest of changes can produce the most massive and wide-spreading of glitches.

I think frustration is a-okay, but criticizing a developer for trying to make a more polished thing seems counterproductive. That's just me though.

It definately can bomb in relative terms what is expected of a mainline FF. I expect it to ship millions less than XIII.

Arrogant? The Uncovered event basically consisted of "sorry for all these past years of disappointing the fans, here's our new game and we really believe in it". If you're saying that they are arrogant because of the transmedia universe marketing, then I just don't know what to say that I haven't repeated here over and over.

People are looking too damn hard at a release date event. It means nothing in the bigger picture.

The fact that people are already forgetting that they announced more than just a release date at the event is proof that in 10 years, nobody will care that they had to wait an extra two months.
