Resident Evil 7 biohazard - "Lantern" Gameplay Trailer

Yeah lmao all those people who really enjoy the franchise and would like a proper sequel to it.

Look hopefully the full game has more to it but from what they've shown so far it really doesn't look all that great.

Yea I'd really like a proper sequel to my fixed-camera angle tank controlling third person horror action coop game.

Seriously, why is this called Resident Evil? Not once in an RE game did you hide and whimper in fear of the enemies. Only one that comes close to that is RE3.

It's a Resident Evil game set after 6 so they called it Resident Evil 7.

Seriously we don't know that much yet. Already declaring it not RE is strange to me at this juncture.

I'm still not sure what the game is, but I'll just remain intrigued because after RE6 I welcome a new direction for the franchise. So far it does look a little derivative so far, though.

I like that they're showing some nuggets and didn't announce it five years ago. It's out in just five months so it won't be long until we have a better idea of what to expect. For now I'm enjoying the tease and speculation on how it relates to the story at large.

Capcom has no idea what to do with resident evil anymore. This could have just been a new IP and I would have been excited. But slapping resident evil on the front of the cover makes sad. So far doesn't seem like a resident evil title for me but we will see what the future holds.... Maybe the story will be rock solid

they're probably gonna keep doing these things, focusing on a different aspect of the game.

1st one was about atmosphere/exploration

this one is about stealth/running away from unkillable enemy

we'll probably get another focusing on fighting back

Same, I need to see some classic RE things to pull me back in. I don't like survival games where I am just hiding from stuff the whole time. RE had some kind of resources management but I could always defend myself. That's part of what Ioved about it. Giving me a useless character is a huge turn off.

Still waiting to actually judge it though.

Looks like we're on the waiting to see more train together.

I don't mind the new perspective but I want actual combat so I hope that's in.

Edit looks like they said combat is in going by the posts here. I'll wait it out to see it.

If the TGS trailer doesn't show any combat, gameplay or any Resident Evil rootz, I'll be severely disappointed. That was a straight rip-off/homage to Amnesia/Indie Horror game and P.T.

Compared to what we've seen at E3 and played in Beginning Hour, this looked very boring.
Since the teaser got me very excited about the whole marketing before the release in January being a puzzle with all its hints (finger? axe? anyone?), I don't see how this trailer is supposed to connect to what we've seen so far.

There is not going to be any action. Right?

When asked how Resident Evil 7 compares to its horror game contemporaries, like first-person horror games Amnesia and Outlast, Nakanishi said both are great experiences, but they left him feeling frustrated. He wanted to have a weapon, to feel powerful enough to strike back, he said. Resident Evil 7's playable character will have the means to fend off his or her foes.

Wasn't there an interview with the developers a couple months back where they said that resource management, puzzle solving and combat were going to be in the game? I'd have to find it, but that at least gives me hope that this won't be like another Amneisa type game where running and hiding is the main point of the game.

I really do hope so, Its going to be weird playing an RE where you dont shoot zombies/zombie-proxy. Im not too sure though. Those amnesia knock offs are what the people want I guess.

I'm getting major REmake and Lisa Trevor vibes personally.

Got those vibes too. The candles and atmosphere were all Lisa Trevor. Hell, the times you encountered her in the REmake were just like this, running the fuck away from her. The game is looking great.

"Where do you think you're going?"

"eeeeEEEk"

That's what RE is all about, people!

what do you mean you hope, we already know there's going to be combat in the game

Holy Christ, this looks NOTHING like RE.

Not really sure what to feel right now. I mean, it looks good, and I'm always a fan of changing up the formula a bit, but, like... damn. This ain't the RE I know.

Looks promising. Hope we get to see more of the different types of zombies (they're still doing zombies right?) soon.

I'm just not sure they can even make a scary game. First Hour wasn't, and nothing in this trailer seemed particularly creepy or disturbing.
Resident Evil hasn't really been scary in years but it was okay because they had a bunch of other stuff going on gameplay-wise. So far this looks really primitive.

Everyone criticizing the FPS view should at least acknowledge one clear advantage: The shooty bits are at least going to be a bit more precise in first person view. Unless they go full Amnesia and don't give you any weapons at all, which would be a first in Resident Evil, I think.

I'm seeing shit tons of atmosphere, wondering what the hell is going on, how it all connects, etc. That reminded me of Lisa, and the remake in general. Haven't seen much of the gameplay mechanics yet either. Again this and the E3 stuff was to help introduce the new story/mystery and this is far cooler to me than anything since 4.

Oh would you look at that. Something pops up right behind the player and it cuts out. Reminds me of something but I can't quite put my dummy finger on it.

Looks pretty good so far, not sure I will make it all the way through in VR but I'm gonna have a bloody good go, I can imagine it will be pretty intense in VR.

Looking forward to seeing what else there is to the game, how the combat works ect, but I don't expect there will be a ton of combat compared to the older games this time and will probably be more about escaping from whatever is chasing you.

Sure looks a lot better than last Resident Evil, we already know if will be all an "escape" game like Outlast, or we will have the chance to fight the enemies?

Anyway, I would die if I would play this in VR.
