Rumor: Nights of Azure 2 announcement leaked.

I haven't played it yet but the soundtrack seems to be pretty tight from what I've heard.
I guess that was the most passable part but aside from one sound track I don't remember much of it. But when it comes to how it presents it's cutscenes, performance, gameplay mechanics it really fails. I always have hope in games getting better so I'll keep an eye on NoA2 but I don't expect anything from it.

Is it not going to be an absolute waste of $60 like the first one was?

I can't get over how trash that was. How the hell did they warrant a sequel?

People need to grow taste and stop buying crap because it's anime.

What makes you assume that buyers bought it because its anime? What's wrong with people having different taste? Did you hate the game that much? I personally enjoyed it. Sure it didn't have great combat, a great story, but the soundtrack was superb as well as Gust's first venture into the action JRPG spectrum. Maybe they didn't nail it the first time, but I welcome new opportunities for developers to try new things. Even if they didn't quite succeed at first.

I was offended that this was a full priced $60 game from a studio I typically enjoy.

It wasn't even mediocre, it was out right poor. The game saw an almost immediate price drop.

All I ever hear in regards to the game is 'anime lesbians', whatever the hell that I supposed to mean. Sexual orientation in a game makes it good? I have no idea.

I have no issues with them making another game, but as my first post said, make a it good one.

Makoto Shibata is on this?

That's fucking heartbreaking. :(

I thought this series was his producing partner's gig (Keisuke Kikuchi)? Or is Shibata directing this one? If he is, then the quality of the game may go up exponentially.

EDIT: Shibata is the story writer, so I'm definitely playing this. So he's probably not directing it since it makes no mention of that (probably Kikuchi directing again) and is probably making something else of his own as well at the same time since Shibata has his own team within Tecmo, this is a Gust game, remember? That was definitely something the recent Deception games were missing, Shibata's direction and writing. If there's another Deception or Fatal Frame, hopefully he's making either of those, or a new horror game IP.

I just checked, and it looks like the first game was directed by Yasuhiro Nakai.
For whatever reason, Tecmo like to throw Kikuchi's name around even though he only produces games, never directs them.
Shibata is generally (always, maybe?) a director on games, so I'd be surprised if he was relegated to only writing Azure 2.

Either way, he's one of my favourite developers, and I feel like this is, well, beneath him. It feels like if you put Katsura Hashino on the Conception series.

Oh I agree, one of my favourites too and really underrated, but like I said, Shibata has his own team (Zero team who he's had since the PSX era and the Deception series) and is no doubt making something with them right now as director, this game is more than likely just a side project he did for his friend since he's only writing the game story.

Opinions and all of that. I payed for the special edition and was quite happy with what I got.

I liked story/setting/characters, the gameplay was serviceable and production values were good considering it was a clearly a budget project. For a first game, it's a solid base.

I just hope they improve the combat and overall balance of the game. A couple of boss fights in the first Nights of Azure proved that the battle system can have some depth, strategy and difficulty when done right. If they expand on that and make the game more challenging, it might be one great JRPG.

Yup, pretty much agree on every point.

It's one of those games where each aspect of the game needed some work, but the package as a whole worked out well enough to definitely equal more than the sum of it's parts.

Basically, I'm down to give it another $60 if they increase the budget and give it an earnest effort in fixing it's flaws.

Still haven't played the first game although I bought it recently. =/

I'm pretty sure it didn't sell very well anyway. It was low budget as all heck. Looked and played like arse.

It actually did pretty well for a new IP by Gust. It even sold more copies than the last 3 Atelier titles.

$60 budget title?

It also is not their first game. First in the genre, maybe. They have experience in the industry for sure.

Yes, $60 budget title. I certainly don't expect triple A standards for every $60 game.

And since it's a different genre from what they used to work, I can relate that there's was lot of learning in the process of making the game. As I said, even if it wasn't their first action title, to me the game stand on it's own as a good game.

Believes Dragon Quest is a franchise managed by Sony
More boobs and shojou-ai it seems

Actually think graphically it looks better than the original, not as much rough edges

Original Nights of Azure was okay-ish game but music was beyond superb (I actually purchased soundtrack for it). I hope music delivers again.

Curious to see how this turns out. The original had a lot of minor flaws that built up to bring the game down several notches, so I hope at least several of those are improved here. Hoping so, since Gust tends to be rather decent at iterating their games.

Oh, and it looks like this game's bringing out the underboob game for its protag just like the previous bought out the sideboob one. Can't blame 'em for seeing the light.

And I'll say again, they better iterate on this game heavily. Big boobed anime lesbians in skimpy clothing are nice, sure, but I'll need to see improvements on other areas before I think about dipping in this series again. Got better things to spend $60 on if they don't.

The art is stunning as always, but I'm not really sold on the character design this time around. The white haired lass (can't remember her name) from the previous game is way better.

Just ordered the first game. Have no idea what to expect. I like DW games, JPRG's, ARPG's and anime style games, so hopefully it will be fun. I really like the art style also.

I certainly OK with this ...

Oh yeah clearly ok .

All they have to do is to :

-Keep the same quality reguarding the music ( important )
-Less restriction reguarding the servant usage.
-More servants
-Tone down the drama ( Azure 1 drama was not handled that well )
-Improve the performance on the vita ( PS4 version performance was fine )
-Keep the 4 weapon system , but make it easier to change weapons on the fly
-Ditch the quest system

For $60, I would expect a polished game as well. I haven't bought the game but from what I'm reading, you seem to be in the wrong here. TriAceJP had expectations for the game considering their past work and was disappointed by it, I don't see what's so hard to understand about that. People are allowed to be disappointed and have different views than you lmao
