Deus Ex: Mankind Divided PC performance thread

Running at medium, i5 3570k and a 4gb 770, 8GB RAM. Looks good and runs well. Gonna have to get that 1070 soon so it can look real pretty lol.

Ghosted the first mission and is fun as hell.

Frame dips like mad. A lot of asset streaming or something going on that just tanks frame rate. It stabilizes but the worst performance thing I ran into so far.

Ultra but...
No sharpen
No motion blur
No CA
No MSAA

i7 6850K @ stock
GTX1080 @ ~1950MHz
64GB RAM (lol)

Seems to be hitting harder than the game itself so be warned that may not be representative of gameplay performance.

It seems like marking people is broken on ultrawide, the location tags are always a metre or two to the right of the person.

On a side note, is there a simple dot reticule in the game? It has reticule off by default and the other option as far as I can find is a crosshair that is constantly becoming bigger and smaller as I move around, which is very distracting.

GTX 970
i5 6600k (OCed to 4.3GHz)
16GB RAM

Running on the preset high settings, 1920x1080, no MSAA. Kinda feels like my PC should be able to run it better than that seeing how it meets the recommended requirements.

I do wish developers get rid of prerendered videos. The intro in-game cutscene looked so much better than the low-res videos they have.

So running at 720p now and getting 25 frames per second average with a minimum of 13fps.

3770k
970 FTW SLI
16Gb
W10
Latest Nvida drivers.

Contact shadows off
MSAA off
Sharpening off
Shadows high
Textures high
Volumetric lighting medium/on
Temporal AA on
What are your GPU clocks? It sounds like your GPU is not clocking properly if that is the case.

Fiddled around with settings for about 10-15 minutes, I think one of the games I've really had to mess with to get ideal 60fps through the first mission. Build info and current settings posted below,

i5-4690K
GTX 960
16GB ram
1920X1080

Settings are below,
Texture: High
Texture Filtering: 2x
Shadow: Medium
Shadow Harden: Off
Temp Anti-Alias: Off
Motion Blur: Off
Bloom: On
Volume Metric Lighting: Off
Subsurface: Off
Cloth Physics: Off
Ambient Occlusion: Off
Tessellation: Off
Parallax Occlusion: On
Screenspace Reflect: Off
Chromatic Aberration: Off
Level of Detail: Medium

Note: I put v sync up to triple and that seemed to smooth out the framerate. Hope this helps!

I get the same benchmark but first area is running 60fps on 1080p for me on high.

I agree, I wonder why they do that? Does it save that much space to have those cutscenes in 720p30fps?

Been doing some benchmark tests.

i7-4770k
980Ti
8GB DDR3

2560x1440 All Ultra:
37 fps

CHS/Volumetric Lighting set to "On":
41 fps

CHS/Volumetric Lighting set to "On". Shadows High:
43 fps

CHS/Volumetric Lighting/Depth of Field set to "On". Shadows High.
47 fps

Depth of Field set to anything above "On" is a 10-15% framerate loss.

Nothing else really affected the framerate significantly except these settings, at least in context of the benchmark scene.

Performance is pretty great in game compared to the benchmark, which was also performing well enough anyway

GTX1060 6GB (now using slight overclock +100 core, +400 mem)
i5-6600k 3.5ghz (stock)
16gb ram
1920x1080

Very High preset with texture quality up to Ultra, no sharpening filter / chromatic aberration, shadows down to high

W20EF0X.png

Benchmark

Minimum: 52fps // Average 66.5fps // Maximum 78fps

In game
Yet to drop below 60fps. Between 65 - 110fps thus far

Does that look somehow next gen compared to, say, AC Unity which is a much better performer overall?

That is quite a bold statement here :)
AC:Unity (MSAA aside obviously) has a bit higher level of performance, sometimes worse depending on the situation, than Mankind Divided for me with everything maxed out.

Except that Mankind Divided offers a better overall visual presentation in my opinion, and yes, some interiors in Unity are still stunning, I know. Better and consistent skin/SSS shading (the quality of the teeth at the beginning somehow surprised me actually), nice and natural volumetric lighting, better materials (it can be a matter of taste since some aspects are art-related), lot of real time reflections...

Well, better and more recent techs mostly. Which is quite normal since Unity is nearly 2 years old already. DX:MD can looks beautiful when everything is mixed altogether.

This is somewhat OT, but I just discovered that objective locators and outlines around interactive objects are disabled by default in my game. Is that a "this is deus ex" thing?

Just ran the benchmark on absolute max sans MSAA at 3440x1440 and got 52.5fps average on the benchmark. Not bad, especially with GSYNC smoothing everything out. Heard the bench is especially taxing and most are getting better performance in game. Let's find out.

5820k at 4.4Ghz
16GB 2666Mhz ram
Titan XP at 1950/11000Mhz
Windows 10 Pro

I'm jealous. My Titan XP can't even handle an extra +100 on the memory before it becomes unstable. Your core speed is also higher, mine tops out at ~1911Mhz. My previous Titans weren't great overlclockers, either. Talk about losing the silicon lottery every single time. :p

MSI Afterburner and Riva might have been causing my crashing issue. Played for 15 minutes no crash yet, fingers crossed.

Try it if you've been experiencing constant crashing and run both those programs.
Whats a good lightweight alternative FPS counter I could use instead?

Are you using the 4.3.0 Beta 4 Afterburner, it's recommended for Pascal cards.

anybody with a 980ti what settings did you land on for 1080p/60? as much as i'd love to tweak this i just wanna get home and jump in

Key things for me seemed to be lowering volumetric lighting to on from ultra, turning off msaa and turning off hard shadows. Everything else i seem to be able to max out. I have textures on very high instead of ultra since there seems to be no visual difference there.

Benchmark gives me avg fps of 55 with that but in-game so far im always at 60.

I think the port is actually pretty good since the game looks great and has a lot of settings to tweak. The benchmark is bugged though ive already had bugs with it. Performance is smooth once you find the settings that work.

Setting POM to on instead of high creates a box around you where certain stuff won't be drawn and it extremely noticeable in the hub on the ground. It's just a sharp line a few meters in front of you where everything on the ground pops in.

http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/182150

I think that the POM is a bit too aggressive, wish it was more like On but extended further away.

Ran a few benches and here's what I'm going with.
From display menu I have 1080p, no msaa obviously.
From graphics menu I took everything to max and then dropped shadow quality down by one and contact hardening shadow and volumetric lighting ON instead of ultra.

Plus motion blur and dof off, because I don't like them in games, no idea what kind of impact they have on the overall performance.

gtx1070
i5-4670K (no OC)

This is awesome, and pretty much the same settings I was planning on trying out initially. I have the same processor (non OC for reasons...) and a GTX 1080 on the way. Although motion blur and dof just depends on the game for me. Performance impact is usually inconsequential.

Yeah I just had the same experience. 6600K with a 1080- at ~2050MHz and the in game benchmark ran a lot worse than actual in game with the same settings.

Has anyone noticed a huge performance increase when going into Exclusive Fullscreen?
My friend was getting 35-40 at 4k with 1080 SLI but then switched to Exclusive Fullscreen and got 60 fps all of a sudden

Full screen window mode should always net less performance. It's like this in every game I have ever tried.

I know right? There really was no reason to pre-render these apart from the overlays they used for five seconds. Otherwise the game looks great so far in motion with sharpening off!

What's your vram usage? Have a friend with a 970. High textures might be the killer for you, with 3.5 GBs and all.

You can take terrible screenshots of any game.

This is what it looks like for me at 2560x1440 with the settings I play at:

I think it's a good-looking game, great IQ too.

Here's the shot from his area downsampled from 4k. It is quite a bit softer though when I'm playing at 1080p.

I have a 1070 and 5820k. What settings should I be using? Any one that is causing frame problems in particular?
