Deus Ex: Mankind Divided |OT| We Asked For This

The lack of inventory space really does suck balls.
Considering same objects don't occuoyninventory space and once you get the upgrade your inventory becomes huge. I barely had to even bother with it after the 2nd upgrade...even less after the third.

The shitty mouse acceleration is making me inclined to actually go with a controller for this game, something I don't normally do with FPSs.

Yeah if they fix the acceleration I might switch back, but for now I've been using a gamepad with the "Standard" control scheme (not the default one) and it's been really smooth and great. There's not so much shooting and aiming that gamepad is really holding me back from anything, and it's just more physically comfortable overall.

Man people are dicks towards you in this game. Nice touch was when I went into the 'natural' metro car and the loading screen was full of people giving me scared/disgusted looks, and when I got out some bitch demanded my papers demanding to know why I was in the wrong car. If there's a mission where you have to take out the cops I'm just going to go full lethal, they deserve it.

Still bothers me that melee still needs power, how much power do you need to punch someone in the face?

OK, well played for a couple hours. It was...OK? The first mission was pretty meh. I just got to Prague and there's already too many things to do but I don't have any augs, which is dumb, because I want to explore but I'm not allowed to. Stupid.

Game feels clunky as hell. Also, I already have begun to regret my decision to start with the Tranq Rifle. Should've gone with Stun gun. Oh well.

Hoping the game picks up soon.
You can find a stun gun at the end of side mission 00 or at the TaskForce 29 headquarter.

Huzzah! I assume I should get my augs back before I do any side missions?
Have you visited Koller? If not then try to do the some side mission before. Your augs are actually not gone (atleast some of them) they just experience glitchy hud.

Edit: Tell you what, ignore that. Just go to Koller.

Btw two things that people can miss:
1) You can set the typhoon to non lethally mode this time sroundwhere you launch gas grenades.
2) If you use charged Icarus dash, you can knock out multiple enemies provided you hit them)

I can't *believe* these lazy developers keep making file sizes so damn large. Btw, how does technology work?
So, I played about two hours tonight.

Gotta say, my early impressions are pretty mixed. Human Revolution was a bit wonky, sure, but it went down as one of my absolute favorite games of last gen. But, with Mankind Divided, I kind of expect a more streamlined experience considering it's 1) a sequel, and 2) has a lot more technology at its disposal.

But, the presentation is just pretty poor. Ignoring the garbage performance (40-60fps @ 1440p with medium pre-set on a i7 3820 @ 4Ghz, 16GB RAM, 1080 overclocked to 2126Mhz, and an SSD), the lip syncing is crap, the dialogue has these weird half-second pauses, animations are stiff, the sharpening is just weird, and the mouse is floaty. Cutscenes are shit.

I ended up switching over to my Xbox One Elite controller, and things are MUCH more enjoyable. The keyboard controls are absolute shit - buttons all over the place, unmarked F keys for abilities, floaty mouse, etc. I play kb/m 99% of the time given the option on everything but racers and platformers; but this game just plain works better with an Xbox controller plugged in.

Story wise, it's throwing WAY too much early on. I've already lost track of the characters. I've lost track of my motivation. I didn't catch why the lady at the train station thinks
that my team was being setup, or by who.
.

Why is there inventory management? Why is there augmentation management? Why do take-downs require energy?

***

That said, the gameplay and options are great. I can already tell by often taking the "easy way" toward an objective, I'm missing out on a lot of creativity. Sometimes I feel like I'm "cheesing" the system; but I suppose I'm playing the game correctly.... it's just... weird.

And early on in the hub, I'm already worried about missing out on timed events. Timed events are cool; but being surprised by failing them when you go do side missions kind of sucks. Not sure if that's REALLY a problem, but it's a worry.

Need to chew on this more tomorrow to hopefully see everything come together. Right now the confusing story, mixed with me being uncertain I'm playing it right, on top of a sub-par presentation is a bit disappointing; but those first two things might come together very quickly.

Not yet. It seems I need to
Get some paperwork in order before I can pass through the checkpoint to get to him.

I havent figured out how to get to him either. I've progressed along that side quest enough that it seems unrelated to the main one for the Dr, just letting you know. I could be wrong, though, I didn't finish it.

This makes no sense. I got 50-60 on an overclocked GTX 780 with everything on max except textures, LOD and shadows which are set to high and volumetric light set to On and contact hardening shadows off. The pauses seem to be a problem with your machine as well. You can also turn off sharpening.

Story wise, it's throwing WAY too much early on. I've already lost track of the characters. I've lost track of my motivation. I didn't catch why the lady at the train station thinks

I think this is a problem from your own side...tbh.

Why wouldn't it have inventory and aug management ? Plus you can turn inventory retries to automatic so that the game does it for you (HR had it too). And takedowns not requiring energy would make it too op...especially now that you can do it from the cover and hide the enemy behind the cover on the process.

And early on in the hub, I'm already worried about missing out on timed events. Timed events are cool; but being surprised by failing them when you go do side missions kind of sucks. Not sure if that's REALLY a problem, but it's a worry.
There are no timed objectives except two..one in the tutorial mission and one far into the game, which you don't even realise is timed because game goes on anyways.

This game (and similar to it) highlight a problem I have in life: choices. I don't know what to do because I want to see it all of not make the wrong choice. Open worlds ruin me.

this comment made me feel physical pain, and deep sadness for the games of old. goddamn COD kids these days

My friend has a 1070 and is getting similar FPS as me on his 1440p monitor, similar settings. Going into the performance thread, it's clear there's an issue. Also, something like The Witcher 3 looks ridiculously better, is a real open world, and with absolute max settings with AA and Hairworks, I get a near constant 60fps. The "delay" I mentioned in the dialogue is how they've implemented it - conversations aren't natural, it's like they play one voice line then play another voice line; instead of true banter. It's obvious in streams.

No doubt it is; I'm just expressing my opinion. Wish it wasn't throwing so much out in the beginning; would have preferred a more slow burn.

It's not the inventory management, per se, it's that I've been in the hub world for 10 minutes and already can't pick up a gun I want/found. That's just annoying.

Cool - thank you. That's good to know.

To be clear, I'm going to give it a lot more time tomorrow. I'm not down on the game; just expressing some disappointment with the first couple hours - that's all.

You don't need to bother with the checkpoint you can take the roof route from one of the back alleys and you'll have a height advantage.

I like the game from what I played so far, side missions seem meaty enough and the various routes you can take to objectives are great so far.

The only really bad thing are the stupid energy consuming take-downs, I have no idea what's the point of this, just don't allow them if you are spotted.

This game is awesome so far, really enjoying all the side quests and doing some exploring. Took a while to learn some of the systems think I wasted a few too many aug points in hacking but live and learn :). One thing Im not sure am I supposed to only stealth/ run away? I almost never seem like a threat to my enemy. No ammo/ low health/ low energy. Is it just a matter of spending points in the right categories? Or jjust the basic feel to combat/ emphasis on stealth?

The "This game looks like that but this doesn't is a pointless comparison. It's apples to oranges, there is a lot this game does that Witcher 3 doesn't and there is a lot of tech going in this game. Daytime Prague does look rather plain..but that doesn't mean it is not pulling off the tech or that the game is bad looking, especially when you consider what kind of stuff you see for the majority of the game (Just you wait till you get to Golem city).

But again, neither your nor your friend's performance is normal. You should easily be able to get 1080P/60 at ultra no question. You probably have MSAA on or there is something going on the CPU side.

Well just drop something, you can't expect to pick everything up. The inventory size is really generous imo especially coming from HR. Duplicate equipments do not take extra slots, and you already start with a rather big inventory space. Two upgrades in and I never had to think sbout it...with the third upgrade it was even less of a bother.

i feel like an idiot, but how do you save singh's ass in the tutorial mission shootout?

I picked the tranq rifle and it seems useless in this situation.

He'll have to pass through the checkpoint if he wants to go to the back alley if I remember it right.

I barely every used takedowns, pistols, tranq, gas, typhoon, Tesla charge and Icarus charge are all so good to use for knockdowns.

I also had the tranq rifle. My method was to go to him first, knocking out enemies that were between him and the elevator using the vision aug that lets you see through the sandstorm. I then took out another three or four enemies with tranq head shots, and then sprinted to the helicopter. Once you initiate the cutscene, it does not even matter if there are still enemies shooting. You basically just have to buy yourself a few seconds of Singh not getting shot at in order to keep him alive. The nonlethal green gas grenades can help too.

People called Romanes they go the house?
I feel like the Praxis acquisition is definitely slower this time, around.

Granted, I'm only on like the 3rd 'story' quest with a handful of sidequests done, but I feel pretty gimped compared to where I was in Human Revolution.

I also see the 'buy praxis kits' with real money sitting in the single player menu....

You just need to explore...between the ones you find and the ones you acquire through XP you'll be drowning in them. By the time I finished the game I had 90% of the augs activated all the way...can't say the same for HR...eventhough it had less augs.

Played 7 hours so far and just barely
activated my hidden augs with Koller
spent so much time breaking into apts and exploring. This is one of my favorite series ever and had to play on give me deus ex difficulty

Is the dual takedown where you go into a brawl, take out one guy, dodge the other one, and take out him as well a stealth takedown? It is really hard to judge for me. One of the guys often gets the "aggro square" around him the last moment before the takedown, which I guess is a bad sign ...

Okay I just got on the train to go to the first main mission I guess? liking the world and intro way better than HR which was a damn snoozefest at the beginning. love talking to everyone I can and already getting into a few side missions. game looks great on PC and the new augs seem fun.

Adam Jensen the cat burglar - I never asked for this

Seriously it's so much fun to break into apartments, destroy doors, walls, steal and walk out like it's all cool.

Nice Deus Ex 1 callback (I don't think you'd consider it a spoiler, but tagged it nonetheless):

Been playing for about 7 hours now and I'm not in love with it. I feel like everything feels very disconnected and overwhelming in the wrong way. I can't fully put my finger on it yet. The robot like npcs, the bad lip sync and overcomplex ui and controls also don't help with making this a good experience.

The quest system is very bad and unclear and doesn't do its basic job properly.

The way the controls are set up make you press the wrong buttons all the time

oh found the easiest way to save singh

just jump down, and sprint around leftwards, go cloak and just wonder to the copter and disable it.

urgh. game just crashed (PC) in the 'walk and talk' cutscene in praug.

Finished! It's a solid 8.5/10.
They literally improve on everything except the story. The story is alright but you can tell that they definitely left stuff out for a sequel. Which hell I don't mind if it comes sooner than 5 years.

That mid credits ending though, kinda got me a bit hype.

I didn't even had to cloak, if you go through the left side, everyone is already turned around from you. Just jump and sprint past everyone. I had to do it 3 times, because

urgh. game just crashed (PC) in the 'walk and talk' cutscene in praug.

it crashed to me on the same spot in the cutscene 3 times in a row, but 4th went trough.

Finally getting a chance to sit down and play this (on PC) but I'm hearing there's a ton of issues, and something about pre-order bonuses only applying to one save? Should I just make a single save, apply them to it, and then start all my playthroughs from that save forever? Any other workarounds I should know about?
