I 100% agree on TAA. It hurts to see some of these posts bashing it for its downsides (occasional motion artifacts and slight blurring), when it covers so much, and effectively eliminates subpixel shimmering and even most forms of shader aliasing in motion, all at a measly 2-3 frames cost.
Yeah, I really can't complain about it either. Cleans up the image very nicely and gives it a smooth look. Can't say it looks like vaseline or whatever in my opinion.I really, really love the soft visual that TAA delivers. It looks like a movie.

I hope that was not irony/sarcasm. You never know on the internet, especially since there is a very vocal minority which HATES temporal AA (blurring) with every fibre of their being - see below:
Remember nvdia's TXAA? I loved it in the first games where it was supported (AssCreed 3&4, Crysis 3, W_D, Secret World, SC:Blacklist). But it was hated by the "Glorious PC Master Race" (for example [H]ardOCP, which I otherwise respect, bashed TXAA in every review, calling it "vaseline filter") because of the blurring.
Guess what happened? Nvidia started nerfing TXAA to the point that it actually became useless (Far Cry 4, GTA V, AC:Unity) and now it's basically dead. I mourn it.

Dear God the dialogue animations are terrible - so stiff and jerky Also, I really can't stand ao other than hbao+ anymore.
Question about sharpening: isn't it counterproductive to aa solutions that blur the image? Or is the blur merely a byproduct?
It WAS blurry as hell though, and msot people don't like that.
It sure as hell killed jaggies though. I mean it killed them good. No jaggies anywhere ot be seen.
Remember using it on AC and being in awe in the opening theater scene. You don't know how much jaggies affect immersion in a 3D world until you play a game with ZERO jaggies.
Are people running TAA with or without Sharpen?
The post process AA is probably done first, then a sharpening is done on top. The AA probably tries (and fails) to stick to edges, while the sharpening tries to stick to non edges, so they should complement each other, except that the sharpening is probably too strong.
I expect better of PC Gamer. They should discuss the performance stuff in detail and make note of the things that other people have already discovered- MSAA is crazy taxing and should be off, the benchmark isn't indicative of real gameplay, etc.
Incredibly weak reporting in an area that should be their bread and butter.
I consider the lip-syncing and animation a weakness of this particular genre's format; it's the sacrifice that is made with the limitations of the time to achieve that many dynamic conversations without having to motion/face capture every. single. one. That, and it's from the people who brought you Human Revolution (nuff said ;p).
Though I will say, while it wasn't perfect, The Witcher 3 did it better.
Are people running TAA with or without Sharpen?
Well they already got one patch out the door less than 24 hrs after release.
I played Human Revolution to refresh before playing this, I swear MD is worse.
I think durante is running without. He said that the sharpening filter is horrible (or something to that effect). But he is also running at 1440p, to the blurring is probably less pronounced than for example on 1080p.

Thanks! Praxis well spent (even though I never use the feature). After you complete the section at the bookstore, you should re-purchase the target marking aug. Doing that made the notification go away for me, at long last. It costs 1 or 2 praxis kits but goddamn, is it worth it. Relief!
Or just wait for a patch, but who knows how long it could take.
Contact hardening shadows. It's arguable if it even looks better in its current state, and it's expensive. So I can't reach 60fps on average in the benchmark on 1440p. What settings would you guys recommend to lower or turn off? My current settings are these:

Sure, but it didn't fix shit.
Still crashes. Still poor performance on high end cards. Still mouse acceleration.
I'm tired of being a beta tester for these developers, and I'm tired of this PR-bullshit.
Tuesday game releases are a big no for me (work week and all), so I'll start Friday evening at the earliest. Hopefully there will be even more fixes by then.My original plan was to play and complete the game before Nuka World dropped for FO4 on the 30th, but I think I'll wait a bit for a couple of patches before going all in...
Someone said that buying the mark augment fixes it though that' obviously wastes some Praxis if you don't want it.

Sadly, I agree.
I can vouch for this. I'm playing on 1440p and the blurring isn't that bad for me really. It's there, but not to the extent it seems like most people on 1080p are complaining of.
P.S. where's the benchmark? I don't see it in the menu.

I do. I was a proponent of it. Unfortunately, its reliance on MSAA made it out of reach for most wanting to sustain 60+ fps, and now that we're in the "2k/4k 144hz is now the norm" age, it's unusable.
The fuck you will, my sweet PC mustard rice buddy. Maybe in a few years, maybe never (see GTA IV).Looking forward to playing this at 144hz/1440p
My rig is as follows (all non-overclocked)
i5 6600k
MSI GTX 1070
16GB DDR4 2400Mhz Corsair RAM
Asus Z170 Pro Gaming
And yes, MSAA is off.
All right, I'll see if I can reach 60 on 1440p without it and turn Temp AA if I can. Thank you both.

I fucking hate that 4K/144Hz bullshit. Who can actually run modern games at that framerate and resolution? (Almost) nobody, that's who. I have OC'ed 1080 and I am glad to get 1440p60 in some games (not all). This "4K/144Hz" shit is everywhere - here's first comment from EG comparison of DE:MD on consoles - it''s on top because it has the most thumb ups:

I'd ban people like him from the internet.

Will a system with a GTX 760, 8GB RAM, and an i5-4670 3.40ghz be able to run this system?
You have anger. And Anger leads to hate and hate leads to suffering and suffering leads to peasantry.
Is that what you want?!
OK, did a bench with the following settings:
What can I do to get a 60fps lock (or at least something very very close to it)?
I also have 16GB, don't have anything non-crucial running in the background and it still occasionally crashes

CHS brings any substantial visual difference?
The train station crash bug was reportedly addressed in the patch and that was by far the most common crash bug. Performance is perfectly fine- read the thread. Mouse acceleration remains but it's already on their watch list. Given the turnaround on the first patch I wouldn't be surprised to see that addressed today.
