edit: was that Caleb Durward doing the sound for Worlds? He looked appropriately disheveled.

If you're expecting a lot of Abzan mirrors it's a great card. Kills tokens, stops early Grim Flayers from triggering and recurring stuff like Scavenging Ooze and Tarmogoyf is great.

Vintage all-star Gideon, Ally of Zendikar making it to Modern is also fun. Manfield got a 3-for-1 with Tireless Tracker and Collective Brutality has been looking good all day. Cool card choices.
I agree, cool stuff. Interestingly, I just sold off or traded all of my Gideons, Liliana TLH, Anafenza, etc. lol

Demon of the Dark Schemes (3BBB)
Creature - Demon
Flying
When ~ enters the battlefield, all other creatures get -2 / -2 until end of turn.
Whenever another creature dies, you get {E} (one energy counter).
2B, pay {E}{E}{E}{E}: Put target creature card from a graveyard onto the battlefield under your control tapped.

Pretty good!

I don't think its a bad card, I just think it's entirely dependent on how good wizards makes cards that create tokens, and what the mass removal looks like out of the set. It's not hard to imagine a world where G/W Tokens comes back and goes Oath of Nissa, into Sylvan Advocate, into Nissa Voice of Zendikar, Into Gideon, into this guy, but if there are decks running around like there are currently which are all go big or go home like Emrakul and Flashing back Kozilek's returns then that's not really a good option.

The thing is that card is entirely dependent on what the other cards around it are, if you have tons of token making effects then it becomes a good card. Cards like this get undervalued alot though because we don't know what the next format is going to look like. Hell there are certain cards now that could become amazing that are just shitty in this format; things like Gisela, Decimator of Provinces. Arlinn Kord, and Gitrog Monster could all be format warping all stars soon. Hell it might be a good idea to buy cheap on some of these cards just in case. The problem has been the value lost of playing any card over 4 or 5 mana if it just get's hit by reflector mage. Cast your 5 mana 6/6 Deathtoucher, Reflector mage on upkeep, cast your Gisela, reflector mage at end step, did you just emerge something sacrificing a creature, Reflector mage in response. Sure Reflector mage will still be around, but hitting it at instant speed (hopefully) won't be as much of a problem anymore.

The point I was making was that you'd really think a 5-mana 8/8 trample would be worth playing on its own, but with creature destruction and artifact destruction in this case, that just doesn't work out. Just think about how weird it is that you are talking about how it depends on the metagame whether it will see play or not.

EDIT: That demon looks pretty good. Surprised we have actual demons on this world. And that we have a reanimation effect, after they said necromancy wasn't a thing on Kaladesh. I guess that just refers to making zombies.

EDIT: Normal art for Cultivator of Blades on the stream now.

Damnit WotC. I posted back on prerelease day that my box was missing a promo, and I sent WotC a complaint. After all this time of not hearing from them, I get an envelope in the mail. I open it to only see a foil Soul Separator. Totally pleased with the replacement Wizards. -_-

Pretty good!

This is pretty boss. The flavor of this thing coming down, draining energy from death and then resurrecting something is great.

Brian made Cultivator of Blades sound even worse: if your opponent reduces its power below zero when its attack trigger is on the stack, it reduces the power/toughness of all of your creatures.

EDIT: Skyship Stalker has multiple arts, it's the tiger-striped one from the world building stream.

Went 3-1 at FNM last night. The local meta is mostly W Humans and UR Themo, and I do pretty well. I got my wins against two Human decks and a Grixis Control, and lost to a janky Cryptolith Ramp deck that's built around getting out a T4 Ulamog (which he did against me in Game 1, yay!) I was testing Impetuous Devils last night instead of Collective Defiance, but other that one time that I managed to kill a Reality Smasher with Devils, it was not a card I ever wanted to have. Defiance does better work. I ended up siding Devils out for Thunderbreak in almost every game. If I play this again, I'll probably try it with the dragon package out of the mainboard.

Deck: Mono-Red Aggro (EMN Standard)

4 Galvanic Bombardment
4 Incendiary Flow

//Lands

20 Mountain

//Sideboard

4 Draconic Roar
4 Rending Volley

The dragon we saw yesterday was the Buy a Box promo, it said so it the card itself, that's why it had different art.

50x Pokémon energy cards are $8 on Amazon. Amy bets on how much individual energy cards will be worth for trade value once word of this set spreads in earnest?

I wonder if we'll get our own Aethergate after Chandra finds out Aether emmisions aren't as tight as the council wants us to believe.

And I don't think Saheeli is that bad. The -2 is actually the more interesting thing since you can abuse ETB triggers from stuff like Snapcaster and probably other things I can't name right now. The ultimate does seem hard to reach though, but for a three mana planeswalker she isn't bad at all.

Looooooooooot of people gonna be buying up shit like this to use with this block.

That's actually a pretty good idea! One thing I hated about Pokémon was that there weren't good ways of buying energy cards in bulk aside from buying certain premade decks, they didn't do deckbuilders toolkit or fat pack esque packs. I never had enough energy to make some decks out of the boosters I bought.

Oh, bitch bitch bitch.
Any reason why everyone is playing abzan in what is suppose to be a super aggro format? Just pros preferring the control of the grindy decks?

Lingering souls off Grim Flayer and the option for Path to Exile. They also like Stony Silence as a sideboard card, even though in this metagame of 70% Abzan it isn't needed as much as they hoped for I guess.

Pros are metagaming themselves. They did the same with ermakul. Everyone brought emrakul bit no one brought hate for emrakul.
They just think they are smarter than everyone else.

Angry Grimace

Two cannibals are eating a clown. One turns to the other and says "does something taste funny to you?"
It makes me laugh when people started whining about Damnation when Luis played it during that match despite the fact that a) it's a $2,000 deck to begin with, and b) its not like you can't just play Wrath of God if you're really that cheap. Sure, its worse in the deck, but its not really THAT much worse.

Magic: the Gathering |OT9| Kaladesh - The best Magic set IN THE WORLD

As far as the story goes, Ashiok being aetherborn makes sense to me.

Also, I feel like this can't be real, but people are passing these pictures around on Tumblr, so heads up. It's an 8/8 with upside for five, and for reference Terra Stomper is basically a vanilla 8/8 for six.
I can't get the image parts to line up but whatever.

And in a bant deck you could just play more Flooded Strands and Windswept Heaths over Misty Rainforest. The price is still ridiculous and it should have been reprinted long ago like many of the overpriced Jund/Abzan cards. Plus the main demand is from Commander.

Haha, Matter Reshaper dies to get a one-of Eternal Witness from the library, with an Eldrazi Displacer on the board to constantly flicker the Witness.

EDIT: Path to Exiling his own creature that was going to be destroyed, to get a land.

Ghirapur Quarry (4)
Each player may play an additional land on each of his or her turns.
At the beginning of each player's upkeep, if that player has no cards in hands, that player draws three cards.
This detailed model allows the edificers to examine the city from every angle.
