They just announced at PAX that Lincoln customization and deeper car customization will come to Mafia 3 via free update after launch :D Beside that free updates will include weapons, vehicles, car races ect.

New Bordeaux is a big place – it’s loaded with history and hidden alleys to explore. When we built the world for Mafia III, we wanted it to really feel alive and grow with you. We’re doing just that with free, recurring content that gets delivered to everyone who buys the game. If you love your time in New Bordeaux and don’t want to leave – we’re also working on unique story expansions coming to Mafia III.

First, let’s talk “Free recurring content.” For everyone that buys Mafia III – whether it’s through pre-orders, day one purchase or those who wait – we’re delivering free new features and content after the game launches. Here’s a quick rundown of what you can look forward to:

FREE! All New Character Outfits

One of the biggest requests we keep getting from you – our fans – is about the ability to change Lincoln’s outfit. This is coming! New outfits will allow you to select a look that suits your tastes and define your take on Lincoln.

MORE Vehicle Customization

Hey, gearheads: We’ll be expanding upon the vehicle upgrades that already exist in Mafia III by adding new customization options. You can cherry out your favorite ride with new wheels, personalized license plates, and paint jobs. And, yes, you will get even more options to boost the performance on your vehicles.

FREE RACES!

Take your tricked-out fleet into the city and enter a series of races. From there, you can earn money, new customization options for your car, and other awesome rewards. We’ll have more details on exactly how the races will work in the future.

…and more free stuff to come!

MORE STORIES FROM NEW BORDEAUX

Now, like you, we are all gamers here at 2K. We know what it feels like to finish a game and want more – more story, more locations, more action. So, now that we’re doing some final polishing up on Mafia III before the October 7 launch, we’re starting work on new story expansions. These are wholly separate experiences that reveal more about Lincoln Clay’s time in New Bordeaux. As these stories will reveal, the Italian Mafia isn’t the only threat Lincoln faces…

Here’s a quick tease of the three major paid expansions in the works…

“Faster, Baby!”

DLC01.png

Fast cars, dramatic chases, and stunt driving take center stage as Lincoln joins forces with his former flame, Roxy Laveau, to take down a corrupt Sheriff terrorizing Civil Rights activists on the outskirts of New Bordeaux.

“Sign of the Times”

DLC03.jpg

A string of ritualistic killings has New Bordeaux on the edge of terror. At Father James’ request, Lincoln agrees to hunt down the cult responsible, a quest that will take him from the dark heart of the old bayou to the drug-ridden counterculture of the inner city.

“Stones Unturned”

DLC02.jpg

When a merciless rival resurfaces in New Bordeaux, Lincoln must join forces with CIA agent John Donovan to settle a blood feud that began in the war-torn jungles of Vietnam.

Along with new story and character additions to New Bordeaux you’ll find new activities to engage in to expand and diversify your criminal empire. And, yes, these paid expansions will also offer exclusive vehicles, weapons, outfits and races based upon their themes.

If you buy the Season Pass, either on its own or through the Deluxe or Collector’s Editions of Mafia III, you’ll get access to these three new story expansions and all the weapons, vehicles and gameplay that comes with ‘em. If you don’t feel like buying a Season Pass, that’s ok, too, because each one of these stories will be available for sale individually.

One head’s up, though: If you buy the story expansions separately, they will run you a total of $39.97. With the Season Pass, you get them all for $29.99. (Or, if you buy the Deluxe Edition of Mafia III for $79.99, it includes the full game and the Season Pass – which saves you a total of $19.97.)

Looking forward to seeing you in New Bordeaux on October 7!

Rare to see a SP, story heavy game to be updated like this. I'm really liking the way this game is shaping up.

This is going to be amazing! So awesome that they listened to fan wishing for this and they're adding it after the game launches. I hope the outfits are awesome.

I have a good feeling about this after the presentation I saw at Gamescom and interview I had with the Design Director.

They really need to put Punisher shirt in game. Maybe not 1:1 copy because of the copyright but one that looks like Punisher logo.

I'm not getting it till November probably, hopefully it''ll have the updates by then.

What a neat thing for a developer to do. The DLC sounds cool, too!

I'm tempted not to buy at launch now. Really hate his default look.

Between this and watch dogs, it might be the first time I buy a gamre and it's season pass day one.

According to game producer said that there is still option to choose Arcade or Simulation driving model.

I'm talking about mechanics. Cars blowing up when you touch them, how easy it is to turn at high speeds, it just doesn't match the feel of the game

That was only done for first pre-alpha gameplay videos last year. That doesn't happen anymore.

The fact that they listened to the fans and added this as feature makes me so damn happy. This is going to good!

Guys I may buy my first Mafia game.

val, it's the best! Time to put GTA V down, even if momentarily. There's nothing like the story building and narrative arcs that they set out to achieve in each Mafia game. And their rendition of New Orleans looks phenomenal!

wait, so you have to wait for a patch before you can change outfits/customize the MC? the fuck?

Yeah, but it's after they received so much fan feedback clamoring for it. Honestly, good on them for making it priority even if after launch - I'm not disappointed in the fact that they're doing it later. I'm pretty happy that they're adding it at all. I liked the outfit selection in Mafia II, and I loved replaying in a different get up.

Way to go, 2K Games. The lack of customization was definitely a weak spot.

Really looking forward to this... I loved the first two games flaws and all.

To be honest i was expecting clothing customization to be in the game by default.
It was in Mafia 2, and it's basically a standard for this type of game.

Suit and black panther outfits look great tho.

I was expecting Lincoln as in the car manufacturer lol

Anyway, this game still looks like it's headed down the wrong path to me. Trying to be too much like GTA and forgetting what made it Mafia.

Game is still story driven and important story missions are still linear and scripted. They just added another layer on top of that to make city useful and not just backdrop. At least that is how i see it.

GTA is also very story driven.
The difference wasn't just that, but how more grounded Mafia felt, especially when driving and shooting.
This does look more exaggerated, like GTA is (cars exploding when touched, super over the top violent kills etc).
I mean Mafia was a game where you ran out of gas, and had to respect the speed limits, or you'd get a ticket.

I still think this looks fun though, as much of a GTA clone or not it ends up being.

Loving the look of this game, really looking forward to it. That concept art in the jungle looks great too, wonder whether we can expect to see some DLC with flashbacks to Vietnam?

Edit:
This is pretty cool. Depending on when this comes out, i might just wait to play the game.

A little over a month from now (October 7th).

Wow this game looks pretty interesting. Looking forward to it, which is a bit of a surprise. I liked Mafia 2 but never finished.

Free DLC makes it easier for me to justify paying for paid DLC, especially if it's quality.
