Turn-based games are dead :D

I guess it will be the best scored JRPG this year by a long shot.

Can't wait to play.

Are Famitsu actually paid off for reviews or are people trying to be edgy? Don't follow them.

Their "reviews" are based largely on how much the game was advertised with them, along with how much they think their readers will want to see a favorable review of the game. They aren't really reviews of the game at all, and the actual text of the "reviews" tends to be like three lines of the most vapid text imaginable.

There are far worse 40/40 scores, for example JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle.

At least in its genre Nintendogs is a quality game.
Jojo is the epitome of a massively shit game with a massive marketing campaign. Famitsu is full of shit giving it a perfect score.

I remember reading an article earlier this year by a former writer in famitsu (or was it dengeki?), and they were not allowed to publish anything without approval from the company that the games were involved in. Probably explains why you legit never actually see any opinion pieces about games on official Japanese news websites.

Did you know Nintendogs was given 40/40?

I don't understand this meme.

Nintendogs was an amazing game if you were part of its intended audience. There are a lot of children out there that couldn't have a pet and that game was the best alternative available. I was like 12 when it launched and I remember a lot of friends being hooked to it.

It deserved the score IMO.

oof, hopefully it's a bit shorter when playing on easier difficulty levels

If I remember correctly, I think that Atlus said it would be longer than Persona 3 and Persona 4, and have enough content wise as Persona 4 Golden, which means very unlikely that it's less than 80 hours, unless you can skip cutscenes or
play on the SAFETY difficulty level.

Ah alright. I didn't know Famitsu even did reviews until I started reading GAF. I just knew they did Japanese games coverage.

80 hours shouldn't be too surprising given the previous titles, but I still thought it would be shorter just because of the development costs being higher. Glad to know it's not the case. This will consume my life next year.

I guess we'll be getting a Persona 6 fairly soon to use those assets as much as possible.

What did both P3 and 4 get at release and for their rereleases? Not that the opinion of the magazine then is all that relevant to its opinion now (oh god, it's been so long) but I'm curious all the same.

It won't and there will be drama :)

Anyway, good for the game if it helps sell a few more units, even if Famitsu reviews are... well... you know.

Had the same thoughts. The only real outcome from this review is some readers of famitsu who aren't into persona might give it a try. Expect uncharted fan response if ffxv doesn't hit the perfect score. Shouldn't matter but some people are emotionally dependent on the score being 40.

For anyone thinking I didn't know Famitsu scores are worthless in terms of the quality of the game, I did know. I posted for anyone who keeps track of what scores Famitsu gives/cares for whatever other reason.

FFXV will without a doubt get a perfect score or a 39 at worst. SE will pay big for it.
I believe it won't and people will go crazy.

Maybe SE break up and didn't have the money to buy a perfect score :D

I can be wrong but it is highest score an Atlus title received from Famitsu by a big margin.

No one wants a throne you've been sitting on!
There might be evidence. Or it's the fact that most games seem to fall in a certain narrow review range, which makes their reviews kind of meaningless.

Considering its a long time joke in the industry waaaay before people on the internet found it funny Id say its true.
