Remember when the Nexus 6 had small bezels AND front facing speakers?

I'm pretty desperate for a new phone and have been holding out for the Pixel XL. Considering this potential price, it seems like its gonna be a bust for me. And those prices aren't even Canadian - with people talking about it being "priced like an iPhone", I thought maybe I'd finally jump ship and get the iPhone 7. Turns out, the 7 actually costs $1000 +. Lol, no.

SO, I feel like my only option might end up being the 6P. I want to wait to see how these end up turning out, but will I no longer be able to purchase the 6P after these are announced? Will there be a price drop on the 6P at all?

Why not just get an OP3 or Axon 7 instead?

I've got the OP1 right now, and OnePlus is without a doubt the worst company I have ever had to deal with, and they completely crippled the phone (to the point of it barely even being usable anymore) via software update the DAY the OP2 was announced. I'll never buy a OnePlus product again.

I've never heard of Axon, and everybody is hyping them up, which was the exact same way the OnePlus situation started out. So colour me skeptical. I'm also a sucker for stock android after having dealt with Touchwiz and Sense, and don't want to stray from that (or Cyanogen, if I have to... but preferably stock).

There have already been a lot of price drops from various retailers over the past few months, so I'm sure there will be more in the future. I do not know if the Google store will still have any stock after the announcement, but I wouldn't be surprised if they did. You just have to do your research everyday and see what type of deals pop-up.

Looks like a cheap knock-off of the iPhone 5 design and will cost almost as much as iPhone 7. Congrats Google.

Yeah, at least they're giving this one a stupid name, so when people give negative feedback of this thing, they can revert back to nexus.

Black Friday morning, Amazon. You will have a few hours window maybe even shorter to get the lowest price before it goes discontinued. Trust me.

I really hope that's a logo and not a physical button. That would tank my interest in this phone, Nexus-style all digital buttons is the light and the truth.

I'm looking for a new phone and this is the one I've been waiting for but most of the rumors are turning me off :(

Any truth to the rumors that the $650 price tag everyone is throwing around includes the VR Headset and Controller?

I just really can't understand why they'd get rid of front speakers.

I imagine you can fit a bigger speaker on the back given the vertical size limits of a front facing speaker.

I was very surprised how bad the front speakers on my 5X are when I first got it, I felt they were quite a bit worse than the rear facing mono speaker on my previous phone.

The 5X only has one front speaker doesn't it?

Still have a year left on my Verizon contract but am looking to go to Project Fi when it's up. Hopefully the price on these is somewhat reasonable by that time. Insane pricing if the rumors are true. Should include a free year of Project Fi at those prices.

That thing looks like straight up garbage and the price is absurd. My Moto X Pure cost less than half that, brand new.

$650 would completely rule this out for me... I'm a $350 kind of guy and I guess there's nowhere to buy stock Android these days. Sooo lonnngg.

Wow, they're really going full iPhone with their pricing now, huh? I'm sure the phones will be awesome, but hmm, yeah.

Google stepping away from their typical pricing?
Damn.

Nexus phones haven't really been surprisingly cheap since the N5 or something, but yeah, this definitely seems like them completely giving up on them being affordable at all.

i don't exactly understand Google's strategy here.

* They owned Motorola. Motorola made nice looking phones (like the Nexus 6)
* The Nexus line never really sold gangbusters, even though they were sold at an aggressive price point

Now Google doesn't own Motorola anymore, they rebranded the "Nexus" to "Pixel" which, i guess, is a bit more 'friendly' sounding, the phone looks super bland and comes at a supposed premium price.

I'm still waiting for a reason as to why this new approach should do any better than the Nexus line.
What's the target audience?

Those photos don't look so hot. The design seriously looks like shit. It's such a big step backwards coming off the heels of the Nexus 6P which was a genuinely nice looking device in my opinion. That stupid glass/glossy part on the back just looks bad to me. Those bezels are inexcusable too. How is it possible that previous Nexus phones have delivered nice bezels and the bezels here look awful.

Then you combine all this with the price that's rumoured? No thanks.

To everyone complaining about the price, Google always has black friday and after-christmas sales on their shit. This is after the fact that preorders will sell out quick anyways and won't ship until the end of October.

Personally I'm not getting another Nexus phone until they're Wacom penabled, have Smart Stay and waterproofing.

Aw man, all these nice phones get announced right after I upgrade. It's annoying.

Looks really nice, though.

to be fair, it's actually the other way around - you upgraded right before these nice phones got announced. the new iPhone and Nexus are always announced in Sept / October

Sigh, $650 for the small base model? I might as well order an iPhone 7. I'll wait 2 weeks to see what the Pixels can offer.

I miss their Nexus 5 for $350.

I've been holding out for these phones for a while now, but $650 is around £500, add VAT on top of that and the UK price is likely to be somewhere in the region of £600. It would need to be a seriously impressive phone, software and hardware wise for me to get it at that price.
