Arkham Asylum - once you experienced it all - a brawl, a predator section, an environmental puzzle and a boss fight.
"oh, this game does everything... perfectly."

The moment Persona 4 ended and I realized that I actually felt like I missed my friends.

It's pretty much this. But not just for Persona 4, any game that makes me really sad that it's over is a good sign that it's going to stick in my memory for a loooong time. Recently had this with the last Witcher 3 DLC.

1:1 swordfight with Ghirahim in Skyward.

Sucking up a whole mural of Kirby's OG Dream Land in Triple Deluxe.

Going upside down in SMG.

Completing a difficult Pushmo.

Catching a Tricky Treasure in Rayman Origins.

Sunset in DKCR.

I actually came to say this exact thing. I can remember the first time it happened like yesterday, surreal.

Chapter 9 Ending KI:U
Happened in many chapters for me. I second The Phantom Pain and A Link Between Worlds but I can't point at the precise moments. Maybe in Zelda it was the Thief Dungeon with that music, but in the end every dungeon gave me that "masterpiece" feeling.

The Last of Us

Ending Spoilers

Right at the end when Joel and Ellie have that conversation and how Ellie asked Joel to swear about the fireflies is true. Joel answers and Ellie says "okay" and then cut to black.

That moment right there is when I realized this game's story IMO has reached the next level. So nuanced and confident in its story and I loved it. I remember just leaning back on my chair and just out loud said "wow".

When I started to realize there was some cosmic stuff going on in Bloodborne, in that moment I thought this game will be a masterpiece.

I cant remember exactly at what moment tho, maybe when I fought the Celestial Emissary, or earlier, or when I saw Ebrietas, or when I did a gesture to the moon, or when I learned how to play with the Chikage, or when I beated Father G, or when I speaked with Patches the Spider, or when I destroyed Defiled Amygdala no hurt, ........

During the House of Pleasure mission in Dishonored. It was a mission that had already been demoed at E3, so when my play through was completely different than the demo, I knew just how special Dishonored really was.

After "Fall" ends in TLOU, you know you're playing something beyond special.

For me, once disc 3 begins in FFIX, the game takes that next step into GOAT territory.

Lastly (though I could go on all day), Dark Souls. There are multiple junctures where the GOAT impression kicks in, but mine was when you first tread into the Royal Wood and stumble upon Artorias. The way everything linked up in my mind - and the realization of what lies ahead - gave me chills.

Apotheosis, both the music and the moment, in Journey
The village in Uncharted 2
If nothing before it, then surely playing the final Bowser level in Super Mario Galaxy
Fighting The End in Metal Gear Solid 3 for more than two hours
Riding into the Skellige wilderness and hearing The Fields of Ard Skellig

The moment I stepped out of the Imperial Sewers for the first time in Oblivion.

The moment when I realized Witcher 3's 10 minute "Devil by the Well" tutorial sidequest had a more interesting story than most games can muster in 10 hours.

The moment Red Dead Redemption's ending title card hit.

The moment in Final Fantasy 4 when Fabul was being bombed and attacked by soldiers. Never experienced anything like it in a game.

Ending of the opening in Last of Us

When I got to Zeal in Chrono Trigger and heard Corridors of Time

First time I was low in ammo in Resident Evil and was scared because of it.

First time I walked around in Dragon Quest 8's overworld with its epic score and incredible looking landscapes.

When Frederica cried out Raquna's name in fear after watching her die. And then Arthur panickly shouting "What are we going to do now?!?" when he watched Frederica die the very next turn.

Etrian Odyssey: Untold The Millenium Girl

I promise not enough RPG's have your team react in real time when one of your friends dies.

I picked up Bayonetta because of the ridiculous premise. It wasn't until the Epilogue that I realized I had just played through a masterpiece.

That. Fucking. Epilogue.

When you escape the fight at the beginning of Assassin's Creed 2, and then you have to race your buddy up to the top of the church, and the camera pans out and gives you a view over Florence as the title placard comes out... that was a pretty magical effect.

I think it was the level where you are in a library trying to escape and you find the rifle, I kill some enemy with a headshot and the pieces of brains got scatered on the table that was in front of him.

Me = "I said GOD DAMN"

Best gunplay ever :D

Destroying a giant Buddha bigger than earth with just one hand...

Asura's wrath

I loved that game. It was an amazing experience.

Portal 1 towards the beginning of the game once you've completed all the trails and you are supposed to be decommissioned.

When I called Sigint while in the box/ wearing naked camo in MGS3. Also when I fought The End. Always getting shot by him, but just learning his moves, learning his pattern, predicting where he might go only to be wrong. There were so many times when I thought I had learned everything about that boss fight, only for there to be one new thing to surprise me.

The Heroes of Might and Magic III. It's been over 15 years and it's still one of the best games out there.
