the only (small) tidbit I've heard is that "they will aim at (their idea of) core gamers at launch"
this worried me, about the launch price point.
To be fair, trying to sell to the Nintendo fanbase as quickly as possible at launch isn't an entirely foolish proposition. Aside from a Wii Sports style breakout hit, games consoles don't generally sell to a casual audience out of the gate, as they're more than willing to wait until the library grows and they can get a good deal on the hardware bundled with a game or two. Nintendo want momentum from day one, though, and if they can get that group of a few million Nintendo fans to buy in the first three months, rather than the first three years, then third parties, retailers and investors will be a lot more confident of long-term success, which can be a self-fulfilling prophecy.
For all people blame XBO's poor start on the already-dropped DRM proposals, what really hurt them was that they forced launch buyers to spend an extra $100 on an accessory targeted entirely at casual owners, despite casuals and early adopters being almost completely distinct groups. Nintendo should definitely move towards attracting casual gamers as soon as they can, but it's Nintendo fans who are going to be there day one, so that's who their launch plans should be firmly targeted towards.
