What are the most underrated game soundtracks?

Loads of games are renowned for their great soundtracks, but I want to see (well, hear) examples of games with great soundtracks that don't often get discussed, either due to the games being obscure or the music simply being underrated

So link to songs from underrated game soundtracks

Two I really like are Gunpoint and and Volume

Edit: post links!

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Crystal Bearers

So eclectic but so, so good.

Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha might very well have the best fighting game OST in existence.

But... It's Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha, which is a game that is rarely discussed. I love that game, though.

Pokémon Colosseum.

Tsukasa Tawada is responsible for not only the best Pokémon OST, but the comfiest JRPG score I've ever heard.

Yup. I rediscovered how good that soundtrack was when they'd play songs from it on WNF. Soundtrack is super good.

I'd like to see FFT OST get more love. It gets love, but not as much as other FF OSTs. Strongest overall OST for me. And the songs never get boring since the maps don't always play the same song.

Lost Odyssey.

The soundtrack is just so high-quality. Memorable main theme and main battle theme. Diverse boss battle themes (epic music vs death metal). And dat final boss battle theme......hnng. I find it amazing how it's one of Uematsu's more recent works and it's probably my favorite soundtrack of his, even over the FF games.

It makes me so sad that Uematsu hasn't really scored a big JRPG since then.

Yeah. This is the shit. Only real criticism is that pretty much none of the songs go on for very long before repeating.

I hardly see it mentioned when Pokemon music itself is discussed either (aside from maybe that one goofy boss fight tune). Game has some good tracks!

I like Twinbee Yahho's soundtrack.
Nobody ever talks about Twinbee Yahho.

The soundtrack for Medal of Honor: Frontline doesn't seem to get nearly enough recognition or praise around here, given its top-tier quality. Michael Giacchino wrote some of the best orchestral compositions I've ever heard in a video game for Frontline.

I'm afraid that Master of Monsters OST will never get the love it deserves. For me it's a hall of fame worthy ost from the 16-bit generation. For me it's specifically the Genesis version.

BGM 06

BGM 05

I get feels and I've never even played the game.

I don't know if it's underrated but Dragon Age Inquisition soundtrack is awesome and my favorite this gen so far.

Gonna quote myself from a previous similar-ish thread and spread the Battlefield soundtrack love.

The Battlefield 3 and 4 campaigns are also this for me. They're dire games, but the music is super cool. Yes, the WUBWUB versions of the Battlefield theme kinda suck, but the actual campaign score is really cool. I wish more games would go this super-abrasive, noisy route:

Solomon's Theme
Thunder Run
Fire from the Sky
The Majestic Valkyrie
Guilin Peak

It sounds like a John Carpenter soundtrack run through several effects pedals, or something. Hated the campaigns but happily snapped up the soundtracks.

Also, I'd be remiss to not mention Drakengard. Such a unique, terrifying soundtrack.

Mickey's Speedway USA (N64)

N64 kart racer made by Rare. Great soundtrack that's sadly overlooked. Which is weird considering how praised Rare's N64 music tends to be, but it is a relatively obscure game after all.

There's obviously lots more. You can find the rest of the soundtrack on YouTube. Rare had some of the best musicians in the business at the time.

Also, an honorable mention goes to Toy Story 2 (N64/PS1/DC). Great game and underrated soundtrack.

It might sound like an odd answer considering it's one of the most successful and popular games of all time, but the original soundtrack for GTA V is outstanding.

They knocked it out of the park, I don't think they'll even be able to top it with VI. Make sure to check out the album Tangerine Dream made for the game too, it's what they drew from to mix the in-game tracks with the other composers work.

TIL that Tangerine Dream collaborated with Rockstar on multiple projects. Awesome.

I also want to contribute Frogger 2, for a funky yet menacing assortment of earworms.

Haven't even played the game, but the Mirror's Edge Catalyst soundtrack (which is on Spotify) is something like six hours long and is absolutely full of stellar stuff by Solar Fields.
