Spelunky, Untitled Goose Game, Toki Tori 2, Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, Crypt of the Necrodancer (and the Zelda tie-in Cadence of Hyrule), Mighty Switch Force 1 & 2, and the parody text/graphic adventure games on Homestarrunner.com (Peasant Quest, Thy Dungeonman).

I would say Hades.

The gameplay is incredible, but combined with really inspired visuals, impeccable voice acting, phenomenal writing, and a moving soundtrack... there's honestly nothing else like it. I really can't imagine anyone not finding something to love in the game.

plenty already mentioned, so I'll throw in something I didn't see.

HoloCure - Save the Fans!
Subverse
Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun
Subnautica
Subnautica: Below Zero
Broforce
Magicka
Magicka 2
Journey

HoloCure would probably be the one that stands out the most. being a completely fan made and free to play single player game, about cute Vtuber girls and in the same genre as Vampire Survivors, but arguably done better in some aspects. a pure passion project and I can't recommend it enough, especially since it's free.

Anyway...
Here are mine!

For Adventure/mystery.

For Multiplayer.

For Couch Co-op with friends.

For Porn. (still in Beta)

There are fahr more amazing indies I leave out such as Griss, Dead Cells, Dead Estate, a Hat in time, Signlalis, Risk of Rain 2, No man's sky, ect.... and I can't reduce this list any further.

Been playing Dave the Diver lately and I'm absolutely loving it
Just played the demo...enjoyed managing oxygen and diving deeper for better fish...and I haven't even TOUCHED the restaurant sim part...and I bought it for the Switch. I'll buy a physical one as well. This game is CRACK.

I can't overstate how fucking good Subnautica is if you like the isolation and exploration of maybe a Metroid game. It isn't Metroid, obviously, but it has that feeling of mystery, isolation and a-ha moments.

A game that truly trust its players and holy shit is it rewarding. LOVE this game.

Hope GAF won't hate me for this, but since one of my fav genre in gaming is "Walking Sims" I'll list below in no particular order the ones I enjoyed the most.

On top of those, I recommend these.

ABZÛ
Dead Nation
Flower
Journey
Little Nightmares
Resogun
The Unfinished Swan

Indies tend to excel in memorable experiences, and all of the above were quite lookers at the time as well.

On a side note, it seems like I'll have to get Lake, since our tastes seem to match. Luckily, there's 55% discount for it on PS+. :) Hopefully, it doesn't have as excruciatingly slow movement as The Chinese Room studio's games tend to have.
