Any news of ways of addressing motion sickness? How can we expect this to go mainstream if every other person wants to barf after a session?

Are you claiming that "every other person" barfs with Rift/Vive or at countless PSVR showcasing?

VR tech is real and optimized this time, it only causes discomfort if player is experiencing really wild motion inside the game [which would cause sickness in real life, for example on rollercoasters or plane cockpits], or psychological discomfort caused by hightened experiences in VR [horror games]. Also strafing. Strafing is a big no no. :D

Every other person feels nausea if something too trippy happens, yeah. Barfing is an exaggeration. I don't think I've ever heard of an instance of actual barfing. It's just that nausea of any sort is incredibly unenjoyable and I'm concerned about how VRs gonna do because of it. I really do want VR to be a commercial success overall.

Im sure many share the same feelings as i, but i've never been as excited for a piece of tech as i am for this, granted i have yet to try the vive and without a doubt it is a better overall offering technically speaking, but VR is just about one of the coolest things and to actually have it now is just awesome.

I noticed that Farpoint needs the Playstation Aim controller. Where can I get one of these? I don't see them listed online anywhere. Farpoint wasn't even on my radar until I saw some reviews. Now seems like a must have.

Like goonergaz said it does not seem to be an actual requirement but yeah definitely the preferred way to play shown in most demo videos for more immersion and a better experience since it mimics the game so well for shooting and has built in controller buttons and sticks as well.

It looks like it and the game doesn't come till next year since it's not a launch game so that's probably why it hadn't been posted until now. Brickarts295 just posted the link to a bundle copy of the game with the Aim controller that seemingly just went up on GameStop in response to one of my posts last night. :)

There is going to be one. $79.99

It is my understanding the headset has a built in mic so any earphones will work.

Yep, the headset has a built in mic on the underside of the 'goggles' section. One side has the adjustment button, the other side has the mic.

I would go so far as to say that you won't be able to use the mic on a set of headphones: I assume that there's a little converter in the headset which encodes the mic input and pushes it back to the processing unit via USB. There might be an option in the system menu to choose between the headset mic, one plugged into the DS4 or the mic array on the camera (extending the current mic options), but I don't see how the mic on headphones connected via a 3.5mm jack would work.

definitely going to need to see more games make use of that controller before i buy it. i will not fall into the time crisis trap of having a G-con gun controller that i used for 1 game only. lol

Not really. It's the same story with most people I speak to. Many, many people get nauseous playing certain VR games. It's not a problem that we should just ignore.

Can't help but feel terribly concerned about how successful this sort of product would be with mainstream consumers if we're just hoping for the best.

Weird, cause everyone at the events I've been to have had zero issues.

What are your experiences with VR that have you so concerned? I have tried Google Cardboard, Gear VR and PSVR and never once gotten a hint of motion sickness.

I didn't even consider needing headphones until reading these last couple pages. What's the best way to go? I have a pair of super fancy Sennheisers but that wouldn't give me a mic.

Should I just grab some Golds, or would Silvers be ok since I'd figuratively only ever use these with PSVR because I have way too much invested in my living room audio setup?

I would go with the Sennheisers, just bought a pair of V-MODAS just for VR and I cant wait to use them. Really dont need a mic since a lot of VR games arnt multiplayers.

Was going to pre order a bunch of games but leaning towards what many are doing and buying based off the demos. Think I will still go for day 1 RIGS though. What are the PSN download speeds like these days? Would be cool if I could get a game in a reasonable amount of time after trying the demo. Usually go physical coz it's so much cheaper in the UK but making an exception with VR, partly because many titles are digital only, partly because it will mean less steps in the setup for playing VR games.

Also, what are the chances of the USA demo disk demos being available on EU PSN?

Edit: oh and Rez, definitely getting Rez

And because the headset has a built in mic and probably won't support the mic feed from the headphones.

So aside from it being unnecessary and probably not supported, the absence of multiplayer games makes it irrelevant, right? Except for RIGS and Battlezone. And that sports bar game. And EVE Valkyrie...

Edit: and Driveclub VR...

Edit: and War Thunder...

I'll stop now, but you get the idea. You don't need a mic, but there are plenty of multiplayer games.

One of my launch games for PSVR will be a competitive online game.

Which of the following games will have the stronger community in the long run?

Which is the best VR experience?

EVE:Valkryie
Rigs
Battlezone
Drive Club:VR

I'm leaning towards EVE but never got to demo a unit in a store. It has the cross play with PC and Occulus, and eventually VIVE.

I just haven't been able to get into the original Drive Club that I own and can't imagine it's that immersive in VR.

If your priority is competitive MP then you should scratch Battlezone from your list; it's solo or 2-4 player co-op.

As much as I still have my pre-order and I will be buying a PS4 Pro, I really want to try PSVR.
Reading opinions about what you see when in VR regards jaggies, muddy textures etc. I would love to see for myself.

Is Trackmania VR a stand-alone game or does Trackmania Turbo get a VR patch?

Just bought that game in the Ubisoft 30th anniversary sale on PSN.

one thing that you have to remember is that you're reading opinions on GAF, where if something isn't 750hz and 8k res then someone is going to have something to complain about.

I tried it out. I think it's fantastic for what it is. You should definitely try and find someplace to demo it and see for yourself.

Preordered Battlezone, all the misinformation going around about headtracking lead me to watch a couple streams and was really impressed, and because of the 20% amazon discount. Other physical games don't interest me or are too similar.

Need to get in for Summer Lesson as well but I'm still about 500 yen short at the moment.

See me getting Rez shortly after launch, and that will probably do me for a while.

Any word on price for the PSVR game Tethered?

I don't think there is officially. I asked an attendant at EGX and he suggested it would be around the £25-£30 mark, so maybe $30-40 in the US. I'm sold at that price, given what I played, absolutely great.

I think the Demo is just the kitchen teaser in VR, is it not?

I thought they were patching the Beginning Hour demo for PSVR. I've seen PSVR playthroughs of it on YouTube.

I'm really interested in Here They Lie. The initial trailer caught my eye, then the PS Access playthrough made me add it to my list.

Having watched the launch trailer I'm on the fence again: I love the art style, the weirdness of it, but I'm worried that it's just going to be too intense in VR. Sometimes things like that get under my skin and make me feel unsettled for hours, if not longer.

The demo on the disc is the Kitchen demo. However, there was also talk of the Beginning Hour demo being updated for VR support. Not heard any official confirmation though.

I'm certain Beginning Hour VR is a thing, there was a YouTube video with two (slightly irritating) girls playing it. I'll find it.

Right, so there is a version of Beginning Hour for PSVR. Here's the PS Access video:
https://youtu.be/NN5HHjRIUq4

And here's the Let's Play Games video with the aforementioned quiet charming women, and irritating camera work:
https://youtu.be/vUK05DrbhFM

I'm sure I read that this was being made available as a patch to the existing demo. Bear in mind that Beginning Hour is not part of the main RE7 game, I can't see them making the VR demo available to the press and then just discarding it.

I've decided to let my PSVR preorder stay as an early Christmas present from my wife and kids.
PSVR won over my other presents which were an Apple Watch or iPhone 7, so I'm hoping Sony doesn't disappoint me.
One thing I am hoping for is more experiences like the deep diving one.

Well we can assume that in the final PS VR Worlds disc, the deep diving experience is probably going to be a much more longer than what has been offered as a demo so far.

I think that Ocean Descent has different "intensity" experiences. 4 or 5 I think. The initial ones are in the sunlit seas, the later ones are deeper and darker, and include the shark bit. There is a kind of medley mode which includes short chunks of each phase.

It's going to be a massive issue. Time to grow those VR legs.

Right so I've ordered EVE Valkyrie.
I hope places start updating soon for VR games, the PSstore is pathetic but online retail theres tumbleweeds rolling around.
Really bad impression given how close we are, I know the PSstore will be updated on the day but people need to see games instore and online and there hardly anything for 13th let alone forseeable future.
No wonder people are cancelling their preorders.

You really are Mr negative aren't you :) Some people still stick by physical discs but with the app stores and popularity of streaming services it's a dying and dated side of the experience. Time will tell but I don't see it being an issue.

I demo'd Battlezone twice and had zero issues with head tracking. The only problem it had was that the tracking of the controller wasnt great but it didnt really negatively impact my enjoyment of the game.

well in the shop it says the demo supports VR so its safe to assume its probably already there just need to connect the headset to find out.

I've spoken to two different developers about PSVR release dates and they both suggest Sony are seemingly struggling to handle the sheer volume of games coming out at once.

One is a AAA title that has only recently been made available for physical pre order because they were "waiting on Sony" who are acting as publisher.

Another is a digital only Indie game that will now launch in late October because "right now we are waiting on Sony, they are slammed with requests"

Probably explains it, but when a retailer can't confirm they'll be selling DriveClub VR a Sony published game 13 days before release its madness .

The tasty looking charging stand the Kinda Funny crew have, does anyone know if that's coming out in the UK?

Had a quick look but couldn't find anything about it.

Fated: The Silent Oath just got a price drop in time for the PSVR launch to $9.99 for whenever it goes up:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ARyvv7q1Fc

The reviews on Steam appear to be pretty good and this is the price most of them seemed to think it should have been when it launched given the short length so the timing is good. Might actually pick it up now since the price was holding me back despite wanting an adventure game to complement Robinson.

As horror launch games go, which titles are looking the most promising? I want maximum spooks.

I think Here They Lie and Until Dawn Rush of Blood are the two launch ones for day 1.

Here They Lie just got a new post on the blog with an audio interview:
