ZTD existence makes really hard to recommend 999 for me. You can't just tell people "Ignore the sequels" in a game like that.

I wish it had never been made.

But you can, because 999 had a completely satisfying ending that wrapped everything up.

I can, but I find hard to people people who finished it
wouldn't like to know more about Junpei and Akane's future, or what the heck was up with Alice in the last scene. It's like telling people to stop being curious about things. :/

Was reading Rose Guns Days and boy do I feel silly

So the whole time I was playing I thought the chapters were actually the different seasons, then when the game ended the teaser for season 2 popped up and I was like "oh shit".

And here I was sitting there going "wow the game is a 100 times shorter than Umineko". Wow is it really going to end like this? Right in the middle of when shit got real?"

Turns out I have a lot more to go.

Ehhh, I'm currently playing through RGD and am not enjoying it as much as I'd like. I think a lot has to do with the frequent minigames, which I know are optional, but even the themes aren't hitting the right notes for me. It's a good VN undoubtedly, especially for Noire/period buffs, feminists, jazz fans, but what I really want from Ryu I guess is reactionary despair instead of societal, personal malevolence instead of environmental.

Maybe when I get to season 3 it'll open up.

ZTD isn't really a visual novel anymore, it's all cutscenes. But, ending aside, it was probably my favorite of the three. I wish it was higher budget.

I paid good money for this Dynex!
Wow... I'm fuckin' spellbound. Was gonna call it quits for the night on Fata Morgana, and then out of nowhere... NOPE. Not happening. Played through another hour.

This shit is legit.

Edit: I was gonna play more, but I have to come down from this. Man.

Fata Morgana this
White Haired Chick is running some multi episodes-meta narrative scam, I'm telling you.

:3 Wait and see!

Where exactly are you? Also, really relatable lol. It's been a while since I've pulled 4-hour binges on games without realizing.

both Analogue: A Hate Story and Hate Plus are generally viewed as pretty good right? thinking of grabbing them both while that steam sale on them is up

Has anyone played Maitetsu yet? Any good?

I know we have a localized version coming out (sometime) but I have the opportunity of picking up an original copy from a bud for dirt cheap. Just looking for an easy read.

I don't think you'll be disappointed. I'd never really heard of it before and was blown away by how invested I got in it.

So, uh, what about that non-Fate non-Tsukihime Type/Moon vn? Mahou something or other? The one about a witch. Is it good? Is it bad? Did it ever get a complete english patch?
I've never really seen anyone talking about it so I'm assuming it must be mediocre since otherwise Nasu fans would be shouting about it everywhere.

It's supposed to be good, but there's still no translation patch. The script is completely translated, but it is stuck for over an year at editing.

Fata Morgana

In order:

Yeah, not feeling much this love story between Michel and Giselle. I did like the realistic portrayal of rape instead of usual VN shit with the girl getting over it 5 seconds later, but I'm not feeling much chemistry between these two.

This part with the Maid is pretty good. I'm really liking seeing the episodes and the ages through her eyes. I'm also surprised the novel didn't repeat stuff since VN authors really love to repeat shit over and over. So yeah, this part was pretty good. Almost wish it was longer, but then again I really like how it was paced, hmmm.

It really becomes obvious when you go through them in succession, the OST really makes a good job differentiating the time periods.

We are now in Silent Hill otherworld. Cool.

Morgana's past... this is pretty bad to be honest. I guess they had to make her life shit since she was so angry at these people 2000 years later, but it's starting to feel like a parody.

I really like Michel's past on other hand, though Aimee could have been less EVIL. Kinda became cartoonish after a while. The parts with the mom unable to accept him on other hand felt much more real.

This subplot with the witch and the body that cannot love seems familiar somehow...

I wasn't really sold on the romance between Giselle and Michel but I guess the Door 7 final scene was nice.

Phew, I really need a break now, kinda feel burned out. The novel pacing seem to taken a weird turn too.

Took a while, but bit the bullet and purchased the physical version of Steins;Gate and preordered Steins;Gate 0 on the Vita.

I've already finished and completed Steins;Gate which I bought digitally on the Vita. Absolutely loved it in every way from start to finish and all the endings. So i wanted to get the physical version in case the Sony servers for the Vita ever go down. I was hunting around everywhere for the limited edition, but it had just sold out at ozgameshop for AU$30, I was checking on it for over a month (lesson learned), and the only other place to get the limited edition right now is Amazon and its 40 pounds including shipping - about AU$60. So that was too expensive for me and I ended up with the standard version for $36 at Zavvi. A little disappointed because I don't think the standard edition is really going to increase in value as much if there is a limited edition (and an el psy kongroo version) floating around.

Pretty sure stocks for online shops are low on Steins;Gate and will probably get lower when 0 comes out, so if you want to get the physical version, you should do so. Can't wait for 0!

I'm also really hoping for a Fata Morgana sale for Halloween on Steam. Surely has to be one! This thread has really sold me on it.

Sooo... what the fuck happened to Root Double's physical release? I totally forgot I kicked them some money. Looks like they're kinda sorta almost ready to ship the stuff, but it's been really quiet.

I kinda want it.

Finall found the time to finish Fata Morgana.

Some comments on the last part:

I found the writing in the last part very weird. I think the novel did a wonderful job having the characters act like their own time period, but the last part felt like "11th century (?) filtered through modern views" during some of the choices.

Jacopo character felt the worst of the 3 in the last door. I really liked his door during chapter 3, but his POV scene in Door 8 felt almost incomplete (Michel doesn't even get a confession out of him, he basically magic-forces it out of the pendant) and honestly his actions felt almost nonsensical.

I liked that Morgana didn't forgive the three dudes but simply chose to let go. As a climax it was pretty weird though, you just go around the mansion freeing the dudes. Even the scenes with Dee was severally lacking, maybe more CGs would have helped.

I'm not sure why Michel was so sad about having to "kill" the White-Haired-Girl. Isn't she basically half of Morgana's soul? She isn't killing her as much she's restoring her.

Morgana got reincarnated as the butterfly in the final scene, didn't she? It was kinda weird that Michel didn't get a full-male body again given his should be a pretty rare genetic condition, but I suppose it comes with getting all the memories back. Him and Giselle are basically the same people they were in door 5 now and they are getting a second shot at life.

My friend lent me Apollo Justice, not played any of the AA games after 3 until now (been along time since I have played an AA game) and I feel like Apollo Justice is a really good game. Not sure why people hate on it so much now aside from the protagonist change and some switch around on the characters but none of that feels as offensive, as say, how different some of the characters are in ZTD when put against their characterisation found in the other Zero Escape games. Anyway, it's really solid in my opinion and my friend who lent it to me (fellow Gaffer) was a bit down on it as well, not too sure why, none of the cases so far have been that bad (even Case 3 which everyone always bitches about is fine so far?) Anyone know why AJ is so controversial with the fanbase?

Also, The Silver Case is probably going to be my GOTY. A visual novel by Goichi Suda which is becoming more and more like Killer7 on one half of the game (main scenario) and more and more like Flower, Sun & Rain on the other (Additional scenario) with fantastic music by Masafumi Takada (Danganronpa series, killer7, No More Heroes) wrapped in fantastic artwork and presentation (probably the best I've seen for a visual novel; has FMVs and anime sequences which is unique for a VN). Some of the artwork is so creepy. The game is in turn funny (due to its satire and weird dialogue exchanges with its quirky cast), eerie as hell (creepy art galore), sad/tragic and bizarre/full of twists (this is a Suda game, after all). Honestly living up to the hype so far unlike lots of other games that I have played this year (hello ZTD and Mankind Divided).

After I'm done with The Silver Case & Apollo Justice, The House in Fata Morgana is next on the list, definitely.

Steamspy isn't accurate enough in those ranges to use to use it to rank those games in sales. It's probably not their lowest selling title.

I pray to God you're right, because I can't accept a world where that game would be the lowest-selling title for any publisher.

I'm sorry but I'm not liking that Flower Sun and Rain comparison :( At best that was an interesting story surrounded by an atrocious, cumbersome game :( I didnt like it because the tasks were dull, or took far too long.

Tay: He regrets it and drinks himself to oblivion. By the time he comes out of it, he’s paper-thin from a lung cancer he didn’t know he had.
Tay: The cancer was benign, but he’s left with emphysema and wastes away before our very eyes
