If there's motion controls. Now you can play Just Dance around the campfires with your friends 🤗
I wouldn't expect touch control to be a large thing on this. Games should work in all modes, so touch controls can only be optional (for inventories and such?). But concepts like elite beat agents is not something for this machine.
What a Dumb name.
Ew that name.
Terrible name.
im not disagreeing but Just Dance is realeased in platforms without motion controls, they even support an app to use your mobile device. The key thing here is Ubisoft sort of hinted at attracting back casuals with NX aka Switch. And their strongest casual game is Just Dance. If Just Dance will be a Switch game at some point then you need those motion controls in the gut of the Joycon.
As for touch controls, well the games they featured does not need touch controls so it makes sense not to see them in the trailer. We have to verify, but I'm fairly certain it is a feature of the portable side of things if they want to bring more franchises to the platform.
We don't, but it's to be assumed you can charge it while in portable mode. I'd hope for USB as well but good chance it's instead a Nintendo charging port like the 3DS one or the Wii U gamepad one.I really hope this thing has a standard usb charging port. If the only way to charge it is through a propietary port in the dock this thing will be useless to take out for a weekend. If you have to take the dock with you it kind of defeats the purpose.
Do we know anything about that?
Since the game would be running directly off of the internal guts of the Switch (not the dock), there should be zero input lag. It's not streaming.I'd like to know about the input lag. Playing Fifa on the Wii U GamePad is a joy thanks to the minimal lag, and for this reason I prefer to play it there than on my TV.
Hope it will be the same.
This might be Nintendo's best gimmick, IMO. It's super creative, it's super practical, and it's immediately obvious. It's such a "no duh" gimmick, and one that no one's going to be scratching their heads about like they did with the Wii U.
How big is that screen?
Some observations, the stand for the back of the Switch looks flimsy (during the airplane section), doesn't look sturdy enough for when it's get a little bumpy on public transport.
The local co-op scenes don't seem realistic; the screen is just too small for comfort. Could this be Nintendo's reason for the holographic projection R&D/patents they've been doing. Because that would be great solution.
if games utilize touch, how would that work when you have the switch docked?
Then they would just revert to button presses or just a different way to do the input on your controller.if games utilize touch, how would that work when you have the switch docked?
Come on, now.

That's a really interesting thought, though I'm betting on a 720p screen.IF
The controllers have motion capability that doesn't need a camera and the screen is 1080p then there is no reason why Nintendo couldn't ship a VR helmet for this where the screen just slips in.
Holographic?
Come on what?
What's with the hate? In my opinion it's a perfect name. It instantly tells everything you need to know: It's a Nintendo console where you can switch the way you play it. The name doesn't sound like ambulance voice (Wii U), an add-on to previous console (WiiMote, Wii U, WiiMote...), pissing (Wii), sound childish (Wii and Wii U again), or first console instead of the third (XBox One), doesn't have a dumb abbreviation (XBone), doesn't have a confusing list of letters, (DS, DSi, DSi XL)... I seriously can't think of anything negative about Nintendo Switch.
Sure the name isn't super "innovative", but people who buy the console for themselves only care about the specs. Simple and clear name helps all the parents/aunts/other people oblivious about gaming.

you guys ready for that IPS gamble
I mean, there's plenty of sensible speculation to go around. Them incorporating a holographic projector is not sensible speculation.
Should've left out the holographic part, since just being able to project with the Switch suffice as a solution to the otherwise tiny screen.
Why do you believe it's not sensible speculation?
There are mobile phones that can project.
