As in the other thread...near the end something of DLC X -> XX was mentioned. Does this mean Double Cross is coming as a DLC to normal X users or you can translate your save data?

If yes, I would buy Generations now. :)

Would be cool to see it sold as an "expasion" DLC at a reasonable price (max 20€), would buy if so.

But they're just gonna sell it at full price and call it a day, aren't they?

No I believe you can buy it as a digital expansion for base MHGEN unless im mistaken

We will need someone to translate and clarify all the info

Is the western version just going to be called Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate? Monster Hunter Grand Generation?

Fingers crossed then. I'm a huge fan of MH since the PS2, spent way too much time on my PSP and my WiiU, but i'm not getting any 3DS MH because of how big my hands are. Switch would be a day-one purchase for me just for MH.

We finally might get the most definitive MH experience yet

Console/Portable, online, HOPEFULLY party chat, good control options etc etc etc

It does suck that the first title is likely to be a cross gen effort meaning it wouldnt be the BEST MH game the Nintendo Switch can deliver but Ill take the current leap over nothing at this point

Just to confuse everyone it will be called Monster Hunter Generations X and when XXX is released in Japan it will be called Monster Hunter Generations XX in the west.

Given that the UI has to be totally reworked for the Switch it's not?

MH4U and GEN can currently be configured to have the entire UI on the top screen

They literally just have to adjust it to not take up the entire HD screen which should be easy with all that real estate

I still hope that Styles don't make it to MH5 or they increase Monster Difficultly accordingly because styles are too OP in my opinion and MHG was easily worse than MH3U and MH4U.

So much for saying they were not making a "G" version of MHX huh? Well I guess it technically doesn't have G in the title but still...
Disagree completely. 4u gave you the charge blade and the ability to have hone blade high grade ear plugs and challenger2 on a lot of armor sets. Those were significantly more problematic to the games balance than styles would ever be. Not to mention expeditions and guild quests which gave a short cut to the aforementioned armor skill combos and all the really dumb combined skills. The only reason why people think 4u is harder is because gen lacks a fucking G rank

"Totally reworked" is quite the exaggeration... not a whole lot that needs to be re-invented.

The main issue are hunter arts, which are buttons on the bottom screen right now. The extra triggers might give them enough buttons, but that's a little clunky.

Also I'll miss not having the map cover the top screen again.

Just give me the switch announcement, an english version and I'll be in. Preferrably within the switch launch window.

People should stop referencing data that makes me feel uncomfortable because games get ported to platforms I don't like

Because it's has been very clear in the past that every single Monster Hunter game released on PS2,PSP,PS3,PSV,Wii,X360 and PC is unplayable without the help of a 2nd screen and Capcom clearly has no experience making UIs dedicated for a single screen.

I'm 100% sure that making simple UI adjustments is far more harder than simply making a new game with a new UI...

This is clearly coming to the Switch in Japan at least and we probably won't get it in the West until November.

Yeah, I agree with that. Controls have always been loaded and hunter arts just added another layer on top. iirc you could map them to ZR/ZL in MHX on N3DS which is fine but the third one is still missing.

Well we get clickable sticks, Easy to access bumpers, Plus/Minus etc..

Dude it wont be an issue at all

Lets remember that the Switch likely also has a multitouch screen

The other one (your first hunter art, technically) is mapped to R+A+B.

Ah, now that you mention it. I barely used Striker so I didn't know from top off my head.

Also, the Navirou costume looks horrendously like plastic lol

Not to mention that we still have access to the L3,R3 buttons or they can simply force the D Pad or the left stick (which ever one the player is not using for movement) to have the Haunter Arts shortcuts.

No. It's entirely possible that they'll skip it if there is no Switch version.

I wouldn't buy the 3DS version of this personally as I already own X and don't see enough upgrades in this game. March and forward will be busy enough as it is. A Switch version on the other hand might be interesting.

Probable scenario

3DS version = 40euros
or whatever price japan charges for 3ds games
, SD assets etc

Switch version = 60euros
or full price console price tag
HD assets 60fps etc

Double
Crossplay with each other.
Bring your Switch with you and streetpass/or local battle with 3DS owners

???

Profit

Like clockwork man.

Hopefully this is the last MH game on 3ds before moving on to the Switch. Really don't want them to just port this one over either, Generations kinda sucked as a newcomer to the series and I don't want such a lackluster experience to be what they start with on the Switch :/

That had nothing to do with you being a newcomer.

But what else can they start with? The only logical way to do this would've been with a MHX expansion on both 3DS and Switch, and THEN go all-out with MH5 from the ground-up exclusively on Switch.

It gets a game on Switch as early as possible (they'd never do that if it was built specifically for it, not enough time), and it allows them to get one last hurrah out on 3DS before the... umm... switch. XD

Personally, I wish they were doing remakes of MH1 and 2. We've seen the villages in Generations and I just checked yesterday, they really did overhaul the assets and aren't just ports of the PS2/PSP originals. That would've been awesome last 3DS game(s) IMO, as the 3DS would have EVERY generation ever then.

It's good to see Barroth, Barioth and Diablos back again. Hopefully all the previous styles and arts get rebalanced too because some combinations of them were practically useless. Launching in the same window as the Switch makes me hope for an up-port at the same time, but I'm not sure there'll be one.

Now to wait for a NA direct where they'll announce Generations Ultimate and Stories for the west.
