God Volume 1 was rough. While we lost Monty oum RIP the show got better by Volume 3.

Yeah beside some fights, it can be kind of damn hard to look back at volume 1.:p This series really improved since then (and that includes volume 2 which had Monty fully then).

Whatever's been listed in the thread so far over the last few weeks, which isn't really that much.

Otherwise it'll be something boring and informational, like how it currently is.

RWBY |OT| Vol. 4: Starring Jaune and some other background characters!
I still don't care for him

RWBY |OT| Vol. 4: Ruby can fly now, nbd.

RWBY |OT| Vol. 4: Discuss shipping names here

RWBY |OT| Vol. 4: Now with 75% less RWBY!

RWBY |OT| Vol. 4: Still pronounced Ruby

Finished the 2nd episode

On one hand, I'm disappointed they didn't let Weiss have the whole episode to herself or share it with Blake/Yang

On the other, that Ruby/Jaune/Pyrrha sequence was sooooooooooooo worth it. Props to RoosterTeeth for setting the mood properly

Ruby x Jaune is looking more and more likely with each episode. I wouldn't be surprised if Ruby eventually tells Jaune "Put down the phone, you have a girl right here" lol

Just finished the second episode!

I was praying we'd get some Yang screen time, but it looks like we'll have to wait a bit longer. On the flip, we got an incredibly emotional Jaune/Pyrrha/Ruby scene that hit all the right notes. Seriously, they are doing a phenomenal job with the character's facial expressions this volume, Jaune's midnight training scene being a perfect example of that.

Looking at the shipping names again, just saw the ship "A Song of Weiss and Fire" - Weiss/Yang. Ooooooh my god!

I fully expect we'll see Ruby/Jaune become a thing in due time. I have a feeling they'll draw that story out a bit though. But yeah, that last scene in the woods absolutely broke my heart.

I was surprised that Weiss didn't get the episode all to herself, but honestly, the two RNJR segments were the best parts of the episode by a long shot. Hell, that bit in the ruins of Shion Village reminded me so much of that one sequence in Mulan. You all know the one I'm talking about...

As for Ren and Nora's reaction to the bandit symbol... you guys do remember that Ren and Nora are orphans who grew up together, right? Chances are that group of bandits was the same one that killed their parents when they were younger.

I wouldn't be surprised. I had a suspicion those two would eventually hook up ever since S1E2

Same.
The show has always made it a point to have a scene or two between Ruby and Jaune even during story arcs where the main emphasis was on Jaune's relationship with Pyrrha (the "Nope!" scene in V1 and the "To the socially awkward" scene in V2). The only time where that wasn't the case was in V3, since Ruby was pre-occupied with Yang getting framed and her failed attempt to save Penny and later Pyrrha.

Not to mention the very strong callbacks that a potential Ruby/Jaune romance would have with Taiyang's romance with Summer Rose (Heartbroken Attractive Blonde falls in love with a Red-Haired Girl with Silver Eyes). Hell, even Yang/Blake is a bit of a Generation Xerox with Taiyang/Raven (Attractive Blonde falls in love with a Raven-Haired Mystery Lady-Warrior who ends up running away for reasons unknown to them).

Both of Taiyang's daughters have a potential romance arc that echoes back to their own parents' relationship dynamic.

Also, did anyone else notice that
Klein is actually an all-in-one reference to the Seven Dwarves? His full name literally translates to "Little Seven" and his eyes/voice/personality changes to mirror one of the individual dwarves in that scene at the end of the episode.

The fact that it has improved from what it was doesn't negate the fact that it still has a lot of room for improvement.

I mean, I wouldn't say it's terrible. I'd say it went from laughably bad -> decent as of Vol. 3

It can definitely get better.

...

Also just watched the latest episode. I'm really digging the animation now. That final scene was sad though :(

"I have a girl back home, with green behind her lashes~
Yeah, the only girl who'd love him turned to ashes~"

LOL. Well, at least until Ruby and Jaune start their own romance (which will probably take awhile to get to that point in the show, I bet).

But yeah, that Mulan-esque scene at Shion Village was a great nod. Especially since Ren got so much focus in that bit (and his character was inspired by Mulan).

Most of the returning characters look like they upgraded the existing models- using some smoothing, new hair or clothing models - but Ironwood really looks like a different character from Volumes 2 and 3. It kind of threw me off.

What the hell is up with Klein's eyes though?

Also the character outlines between chin and throat disappearing when the camera is head-on is going to be worth a few laughs.

Klein's eyes and voice change to help signify that he's changing into one of seven different personas. He's all of the seven dwarves to Weiss' Snow White. His full name (Klein Sieben) translates to "Little Seven."

Red = Grumpy
Blue = Sneezy

Not quite sure about the other two modes we saw of him so far though.

"She's already drinking in the garden"

darn, that's telling

Ha ha indeed.

Well pretty good episode.
That last scene with the training video from Pyrrha.D: I guessing she made that during the tournament and maybe after she was told about possibly becoming the fall maiden. Also backstory of Nora and Ren coming around too? They seem to recognize that mark.

And lol that was Ironwood in the opening. Looks a bit worn out, but that is pretty much a given, considering the situation in the last few months and currently. Also dammmn at having two seats in the council.XD
