New Pokémon Sun & Moon trailer revealing the final starter evolutions & more

Technically, No Guard does just that but the Pokémon that use it don't specialize in spreading status conditions.

I wish they would give No Guard to someone who could use it more. Nobody who has it can learn Zap Cannon or Inferno. Plus everyone outside of Mega Pidgeot with it is really slow.

I feel like they're teasing a sequel game with the Elite Four if these games turn out not to feature one.

Or it could just be post game.

Picking up a Rowlet plush tomorrow.

I have not been so hype for a game in ages.

Who is selling a rowlet plush?

I kinda want to have one. I haven't bought a stuffed anything in ages but I love owls.

edit: based on the above post, gamestop I'm assuming?

Yeah some stores already had them in but all Gamestops should have them tomorrow.

Is there a pre-order bonus for purchasing Pokemon Sun/Moon via the Japanese eShop? I received a code for 12 Quick Balls when I purchased Moon on the Aus eShop.

Boss Doggie

all my loli wolf companions are so moe
You can't really use the logo recognition since Transformers changed their title logos a lot yet is recognizable.

Concerning the earlier talk about Battle Frontier facilities, at this point I think I have zero hope for it... Battle Tree seems to be Tower v.4, now with extra nostalgia. Tower is not bad, it's just too plain and we already had enough games with just that.. And it doesn't help that Rotation and Triple battles are shit. Hell, they created Inverse Battles and yet there's no mode for it, they were a lot of fun. Maybe trainers like Cynthia and the Gen I duo can make it more interesting, but it won't change much about it.

It's not that I want a Battle Frontier that much. I think 2-3 more would besatisfying, stuff like Factory, Pike, Arcade and Pyramid. All of them were fun and added an entirely new type of challenge to the game. And hopefully they'll drop Rotation and Triple battles. Also, I'm kind of interested in more facilities that the in-story team can take care of. Like White Treehollow/Black Tower and Chateau. With an awesome prize, preferably.

I hope we'll finally get an interesting post game with a lot of content, it's been too long.

I find it very interesting how GF chose to give the Tapu's terrain moves as abilities. Terrain moves were relegated to only being useful in niche strategies last gen due to how counterproductive they were, i.e. every Pokemon on the field benefits from their effects, including the opponents.

Grass Terrain will heal your opponents and make them resistant to Earthquake (which for Tapu Bulu is really bad since he needs Earthquake to cover his Poison, Fire and Steel weaknesses, hopefully his SpA is decent so that he can use Earth Power), Misty Terrain will make your opponents immune to status and thus allow them to easily set up and Psychic Terrain will make your opponents not be affected by priority moves. Electric Terrain is the only move which the benefit to your opponent isn't a big deal since sleep immunity isn't all that, but that is the root of the problem, near every Pokemon you will face can take advantage of being under Terrain conditions without having to prep beforehand, unlike with weather which only Pokemon set up to benefit from it can.

Maybe the Tapus not having to waste a turn to set up terrain unlike other Pokemon could make it somewhat more useful, but I can only see this being something that can only really be taken advantage of in doubles rather than singles, which I guess is the point since VGC uses the doubles format.

It's the same with weather. Nobody really used weather before Sand Stream, Drought and Drizzle existed. And the latter two didn't really even get used until Ninetales and Politoed got them as hidden abilities.

But then the weather wars started

Weather wars became a thing due to to weather lasting the whole damn battle(seriously, whose idea was this?), but they died down when they were nerfed and limited to 5 turns (8 with an item). GF learnt their lesson and made Terrains limited to 5 turns from the get go, immediately balancing them out and insuring that we never get a Weather Wars 2.0, and as of now they currently don't have an item which can extend their duration, though we might get some in SM.

As hilarious as it would be for like a week, Terrain will never be anywhere near as dominant as weather was in Gen V due to GF wising up.

Now we need a Trick Room ability :D

Now this would actually be useful.

For any Europeans looking to get a digital version of the games, just had a 3DS notification through saying the prepurchase option is available. 12 free quick balls (and 60 MyNintendo gold coins) for doing so.

Yup yup, nobody cares about single competitive battles anymore.

I actually made a post on Tapus earlier in this thread and why I think they're here to stay.

I'm sure that they created them with VGC in their mind and I'm also sure that at least some of them will find use other than a weird gimmick. Maybe I'm optimistic, but they seem to have a lot of potential and until stuff like Landorus and the Megas are back, I hope they'll be the core of VGC teams. Terrains seem to get a push this generation, but perhaps because they're something fairly new, they feel a bit lacking. As far as I remember, only Alola Raichu has an ability that benefits from Terrains, so unless they update older ones, there will be a lack of good support. However, I don't believe they need such things that much, as they mostly seem to affect the moves rather than the Pokemon themselves.

Edit: There's Grass Pelt, Gogoat's HA ability, that boosts its Defense on Grassy Terrain.

Im not deluded enough to think i'm the first person to discover this, but in the sun and moon demo, if you keep pressing b to switch from running to walking over and over, your character will eventually do a little trip animation

if you spin the stick without running enough they twirl too

I solved the puzzle.

Decidueye with focus energy with leaf blade and shadow claw. Focus energy +2 moves +1 for a 100% crit chance. Sniper HA.

Acts like a Swords dance sweeper who has limited set up options but can forgo one of his dmg moves for the trapping move. No grass type so far has been able to get focus energy yet however, but because he's an archer they may let him have it. That or lock on which is dumb.

Best starter acquired.

This little bugger is adorable. It's also very soft and nice to the touch. A bargain for $14.99, in my opinion.

Well, if there's any justice in the world, Fissure Machamps transferred over from Gen 1 might have No Guard as an ability.

I can't wait for this to come out. I haven't taken the train into NYC in months, but I'll be there all the time just for the street pass trading opportunities.

The fact Battle spot doesn't have a triples or rotation category says to me they're gone. Can't have 6 Pokemon and two trainers on screen and still have >5 fps, so get rid of two Pokemon and two unpopular modes (though I'll miss the AI having weather wars with itself in rotation and triples was easy BP).
This has probably also gotten rid of hordes...the EV trainer inside of me is upset but hopeful other features make up for it

Hooray. Nothing of value was lost.

Is it better than hordes? I think I never used Super Training...

I'm not even sure I know what it is, actually ^_^ (if it's the minigames, it's useful to farm stones, but EVs?)

Edit: obvioulsy, I badly followed the thread... Thought the remark was about the loss of Super Training...

I will probably miss hordes a bit, but beside the loss of Dex-Nav, the 2D > 3D change, the loss of bikes, and countless other things, I expect breeding to be awful anyway...

Also, I like how I've spend probably 1000+ hours in Pokemon and I don't understand half the discussion in those threads...
