NeoGAF PlayStation Trophy Thread | 2016 Edition

first month this year where i most likely wont earn a platinum. been sooo busy and now destiny is back in my rotation again...

I know you set up the session already but can you edit the day? I'm on vacation for my birthday (which is today) week and wont be home until the night of the 2nd. Since you need 7 people in this thread to join you you said and there hasn't been a server shutdown announcement in which you need to do this quickly hopefully this wont be a problem. I need the trophies to and am willing to add to your boosting group numbers but can only play after the 2nd. Thanks.

Sorry to repost, but I'm setting up a second boost date for Arkham Origins:

http://psnprofiles.com/gaming-sessions/101519-Batman-Arkham-Origins

Problem was I had a ton of people who signed up but never showed up. :(

So, I'm trying again, because I'm a stubborn bastard. We are aiming at doing the paragon and elite 4x trophies on Tuesday the 4th at 8PM central (again have no idea why PSNprofiles says different times)

Thanks to any GAFfers that can help out!

Have you made sure your settings are based on the current timezone? Under Settings obviously, that is the only thing I can think of, but the time for me is Wed, Midday... which is correct based on US Central

Can't make it though, will be at work! (I also honestly didn't know that BA:O had multiplayer, might play it one day)

------

100% Complete : Hatoful Boyfriend

When I first played through this a couple of times, the retread over certain aspects of the game became uninteresting. I also went through and got a few of the more "easy" endings.

It was sitting on the Vita taking up 2GB, so I figured I would sit down with a guide to knock out what I was missing... Started to take notice once again when a normal ending ended rather badly with a certain character...

and by the time the real ending came about, and all the twists and turns there was so much fuckery going on I didn't really know what to believe...

Need to see what Holiday Star is all about now!

That's so weird. I even double checked my settings and it says (Central Time - (US/Canada) - (GMT -06.00))

I live in the Midwest, so that has to be correct, right?

EDIT - You're based in AUS. Never mind - me being stupid...

those who have the Tearaway Unfolded platinum, how would you recommend me to go about it?

the game isn't really that easy to complete 100% and I don't want to use a guide so I am planning on doing every chapter, no matter what % I get, til the last chapter, then go back for a clean-up playthrough and then just finish the game and put it back in the shelf.

when does the game stop unlocking mechanics? I am in chapter 8, so I am in the "middle part" in the 2nd part of it. am I already fully functional or will I unlock other moves?

Just bought Disney Infinity 3.0 and realized I'm a couple of days late for the upload trophies. Someone here will say I'm lucky because there are no upload/download trophies?

My trophy progress will tank this month. Darkest Dungeon is absorbing all my time...not a bad thing though as I love it, mostly, my opinion can change when things go badly wrong XD

I thought only 2.0 had those trophies...

...or what GAF would have you believe...
(I hope so too)

The tearaway unfolded trophy isn't the walk in the park that the internet said it was going to be :p

thanks to the collectibles.

Almost everything can be done either on my own with patience or with a guide if I have no clue at all, but the search for that fucking confetti is driving me crazy.

hey started getting some platinums, three in two weeks

ratchet and clank (highlights : that fucking race in rilgar ugh and redoing the game to get all the disco animations.

Until dawn (hightlights : restarting the game after a couple episodes in new games plus because the saving system in episodes mode is not good.

grim fandango : redid the game in tank controls... fuck you tim!!

now I'm on assassin's creed syndicate, gonna complete the game then go for all the collectibles at another time, tired.

theres a youtube channel I used that did a walkthrough up to chapter 11 I think, that helped me a lot.

Got a few quick easy plats this past week after a bit of a dry spell. I keep playing these long JRPGs or multiplayer games lately.

#203 - ROCKETSROCKETSROCKETS
#204 - The Bunker
#205 - Virginia

Virginia in particular was a pretty cool game.

Is anyone available to help out with the Resistance: Burning Skies (Vita) online trophy? It should take two minutes max to actually do, and we need a fourth person.

EDIT - Nevermind, turned out we could do it with two people.

ok I took care of Tearaway Unfolded, wasn't that hard, just a bit annoying with the misplaced Gopher, some hard to find scraps and confettis but eventually I got it right.

so, now that I am free to begin a new game, I am considering one of two options..

Valkyria Chronicles remastered

vs.

Odin Sphere leifthrasir

both on PS4.

Any comments regarding the trophies for these two? I checked playstationtrophies.org but found nothing I should be aware of (extreme difficuties or extreme time sinks)

anyone who has both platinums, would you be kind to compare the experience and share some impressions?

I'd go with the game that gets the trophies more naturally as I progress and with the shorter experience, I hate 100+ hours RPGs.

Quick noob question. If I play a game offline (my internet is down this weekend) like single player game on my PS3 or PS4 and I earn trophies. Will those trophies still be added to my profile when I get my internet back? How does that work? Thanks.

Yeah, of course
Trophies are earned client side and only upload when they get synced with the server.

I have both Platinums, and both are extremely good games that deserve a play. That being said, there are some things you should know.

VC:R can be a pain in the ass on some missions, but it is very much doable if you stay focused on the right things. You'll need 2 full playthroughs (one with all A ranks) and youll need to do all the challenges as well. Some of the DLC missions can be exploited to rank up and get OP guns pretty early on though.

OS:L is an amazing and beautiful game, but some people don't like how Vanillaware tends to recycle the same areas or missions multiple times. This game is no different as you'll be playing through the game 6 times with the different characters. Each one has their own quirks which makes things fun, and the plot is absolutely spellbinding imo, they desperately need to make an 26 episode anime series out of it. If you love Vanillaware you'll love this game.

So anyone owns Ziggurat and has tried to platinum it?

it's a hard game... hard in the sense that enemies hit very hard and you don't have much of a chance so winning depends on what boost cards the game will give you.

I play the game on "easy" and I even so I die, there's a trophy for beating it on normal under 45 minutes with the main character and one on hard with any character

it's a simple game, strangely addictive but I can see this will take a a lot of tries to complete

thanks for this. I think I'll put both on my to do list,

never have played anything by Vanillaware though, so I don't know if I'll like it,

Platinum #19 Rainbow Six Siege

This was not a fun platinum, not at all. Fantastic game though.

I'm so close to getting this one. All I have left are some THunt and Situations trophies, but those modes aren't as much fun (or 60FPS) as the multiplayer. I dread grinding out that defend mode trophy.

I can give you a time estimate, acording to the ubi website i spent 24 hours in terrorist hunt, i mostly grinded solo and it was an infuriating slow process, however it took me awhile to learn the fasted method so you could do it way faster. The bombcast helped me a lot in not going crazy :p

Just an update, with a combination of being capped last week for a bit, and some of my files seem to have bloated out... trying to work out what has been happening.

I have all the data, but all the links are taking forever at this point, I'm most of the way through and trying to get this sorted.

Sorry about all this...

At the moment, there would seem to be a very clear winner of the month though...

Platinum #54 - Dragon Quest Builders
I would say that I'm semi new to the series (I played DQ 1 & 2 on iOS awhile ago, and I'm probably 3/4 through DQ7 on 3DS). I've never gotten into Minecraft or other games of that ilk, but something about this art style really pulled on me. I'm so glad I decided to buy this. Very charming game. I think this is probably my 2nd favorite game of the year, behind Dark Souls 3.

Platinum #55 - Aegis of Earth: Protonovus Assault
Ehhh. It's not offensively bad or anything, in fact I enjoyed many hours towards the beginning of the game, but it drags on and on. Felt like a chore to finish the grind for the platinum (mostly leveling up cities and developing all weapons), but I was so close at that point that the sunk cost fallacy struck again. I probably wouldn't recommend grabbing this one unless there was a big sale.

My current plan is to finish up DQ7, so no new trophies for awhile.. But I have my eye set on God Eater Resurrection as my next challenge. I played and enjoyed Freedom Wars, but haven't played too many others in the genre. We'll see!

I've now spent almost 100 hours on Tales of Xillia 2 and have only gotten about 4 trophies from it so far...... This is sad..

Disappointed that Hitman has no platinum. Isn't this a AAA release?

Technically is a downloadable game with DLC addons so therefore it doesn't qualify for a
platinum, that is my personal theory. I wonder if they could patch a platinum trophy once the season finishes :O

You should play The Last of Us lol, anyway that sucks specially because i bought Xillia 1 & 2 but i have never played them :/

So can I participate in this even if I'm pretty casual about my trophies? I have 5 platinum so far ^^

I don't see why not.

people can you please recommend me a platinum??

here is what I am more or less looking for

.- short game (which means, no JRPGs), anything between 10 and 20 hours for a regular playthrough
.- no Trophies requiring either online or co-op, exclusively sngle player trophies.
.- Genres would be Horror, Adventure, action (think Zelda/Metroid/Castelvania)
.- No sports, racers, dance games or too hardcore third person shooters (COD and the likes)
.- Preferably retail games but anything goes.

My platinums include:

The last of us remastered
The Evil Within.
Tearaway Unfolded
Ziggurat
Final Fantasy Type-0 HD

I have smaller games like Journey and Flower but I am looking for something with a platinum.

any ideas?

Priority Nr. 1 is short to complete.

thanks!

Ratchet & Clank PS4. Plat takes maybe 25 hours, but it's super enjoyable all the way through.

Mirror's Edge Catalyst is a pretty easy platinum. There's two online trophies that take all of 5 minutes to do (complete a user time trial and find a landmark on your map).

What about some of the Telltale games? Tales from the Borderlands is really good and has a plat, and all you have to do is finish the game. It's also going to be less than 10 hours, and is fun even if you're not a fan of the Borderlands series as a whole. Alternatively The Walking Dead Season 1 has a plat as well (Season 2 doesn't though). They're super easy plats, granted, but if you just want a plat and want to enjoy yourself there's nothing wrong with that. Or perhaps (but i haven't played this so don't know how fun it is) The Wolf Among Us?

Returners

I would say the Telltale Games, each episode takes about 2 hrs.

Ones with plats:
Back to the Future Disc version
Wolf Among Us
Walking Dead Season 1
Tales from the Borderlands
Batman (when it's all out)

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
Just got one plat last month: Dragon Quest Builders. Incredibly satisfying since the game is so good.

The Double Fine Adventure games are easy to plat but might require being cautious on some actions since some trophies are missable:

- Grim Fandango
- Day of the Tentacle

I got the plat of Broken Age but it isn't that easy coz there's a speed run and several "do this with no mistakes" trophies.

Ratchet and Clank is pretty easy to plat, there's just a couple trophies that can be tricky if you don't have a guide.
It's a pretty short game but platting may require more than 20 hours, not sure.
