Yeah, I have an old Commodore 64 montior that this would be perfect for. There are HDMI to composite adaptors, but it would probably end up compressing the image.

Those adapters would not make this 240p. It would probably come out as 480i.

480i is not how you want to see these games.

Why not just grab an NES? They're only $50 or so. Retro-Gaffers can help you with repairing anything wrong with it too. The library of the NES is the stuff of legends and I think every gamer with access to a CRT should probably have one just because.... it's the king.

Soundslike

Weird reading about all these pre-order problems overseas. I could pre-order the thing at my local videogame chain store a week after reveal, no problem. I still ended up as nr.40 and altho the people working there keep assuring me I can pick it up at release, I figure I'm gonna have to wait a couple of weeks or so.
Atleast there's no standing in line in front of a closed store or anything crazy like that.

I think its kinda shitty to take pre-orders with no sense on how many units you actually gonna get. When the supply doesnt cover the pre-orders then its just ok to say "were out of stock"?

Because this is way cheaper and barely takes up any space in comparison? And I want the save states? And I don't really care about the issue that much anyway.

I wonder if a third party might make a NES 2 "dogbone" version of the controller. The rectangle doesn't tickle my nostalgia quite like this little guy

It adds to the nostalgia...

Yeah, I wont be able to use this thing if I use it on my TV as I will have to basically put my face on the screen to use it. Come on Nintendo, what the hell. Guess I will hook it up to my PC monitor.

Hah, my friends and I actually relived that shot a few years ago

Kinda figured people would get cancelled orders from target, that happened during amiibo pre orders, shit made me go mad

It'll be worse next Friday since a lot of people have the day off so expect campers :/

Did this thing ever go up for pre-order? (US)

Only target and toys r us had pre orders , I think the first week or second week after it was announced

What are the chances of the Toys R Us / Target pre-orders actually going out on the 11th?

I just looked at my Target order from August 15 and it says, "expected arrival Wed, Nov 16 - Fri, Nov 18". Not sure when they are planning on shipping it...

Did we ever get confirmation the cord for the controller is that short on the final product? I'd thought it was said to be longer.

So this thing is going to be impossible to get on the Americas just like amiibo last year, right? Lord have mercy on our souls when Nintendo Switch comes out...

I don't necessarily think so. Well, maybe day one. But if there is demand, they will ramp up supply and meet it during the holiday season. People forget (or didn't know) the major port strike in LA contributed heavily to initial amiibo shortages.

And for Switch, they said in the recent Q&A that they will ramp up supply if needed. So, hopefully that will be purchasable also. In both cases though I'm referring to a scenario where we actively go and seek out the item and try to get it day one, sort of thing, and in the Switch's cases pre-ordering the item. Just walking into a store I imagine it will be more difficult to get day one for the Switch. Since preorders in NA are so limited for the NES Classic Mini, I imagine if you call a few stores day one you might have good luck getting one. That's my hope at least.

There's an unboxing on YouTube.
I believe it is short.

Ah, that's unfortunate. Time for a long USB cable, then, I guess. Thank you!

10 ft HDMI cable is all you need.

Won't you need a long USB cable also?

So no places have it for preorder atm? I still have my TRU preorder but I wonder if they'll actually have it shipped on time.

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
Zero reason for Nintendo to make it that short. It's infuriating.

I feel this thing would be easy to find during the holiday period.

Just the initial launch might be bigger then they anticipated, which I can't really blame them because I also didn't expect it to receive such a positive reception (My dad wants one for some reason)

Thanks for sharing! Confirms this will be the first physical Nintendo product with a MyNintendo code (300 Platinum Coins, no Gold ones, though). Smart move on their part, now they just gotta put stuff on the service that would make folks actually want to redeem said points :p

I didn't watch the video, so thanks for mentioning this. Interesting that it's Platinum points only. I expected Gold only for physical products, and continue to expect Gold for Switch-related physical products. Hopefully the program improves regardless in terms of offerings though.
