All-New Press Previews of Final Fantasy XV's First 5 Chapters

Probably meant the scene of them commenting on it while driving past it. It's in the middle of the field now with not path next to it and it seems it stays underground until a certain quest when you suddenly realize this huge rock was the Adamantoise all along :>

The real question is if there are more than one Adamantoise in the world...

Maybe the linearity is like FF8's
future world map
.

I REALLY hoped FF8 could expand on that........I guess dev time constraint??

I think it was more a restraint of the 4th disc not able to hold everything in the game + the ending movie

This is something that gets me really excited about the gameworld here since it is something that always bugs me in most other games. Worlds being made with no value put into empty space, where every step has to have some sort of event tied to it. Making games feel less "gamey" and having more believable gameworlds are some of my favorite things a video game can have. I am more then okay with it taking "too long" to get to places and not being able to just fast travel skip all over the map. Can't let my hope run too wild on this though since it just sets me up for disappointment, even through Tabata is saying the exact thing that gets me excited.

While I do appreciate what they are trying with empty spaces in FFXV, I think the key is in finding the right balance. An overly empty map could be as (if not much more) annoying as one that is packed with meaningless content. Case in point, MGSV.

Though going by the previews, I think
(hope)
that Tabata & Co have managed to achieve that right balance here.

Has there been any mention of re-load times? If im attempting some high level monsters and dying repeatedly I don't fancy a 60 second wait in between deaths ala Witcher 3.

It all makes sense now.

Why is magitek troop reading a newspaper?

Explain your way out of this one, Tabata.

WAtch people whine about large empty spaces even when Tabata gives a perfectly reasonable explanation.

That's a given. I'm expecting a few franchise first timers to grab this game on a whim to be up in arms when they realize it isn't a sanbox WRPG with loot hoarding.

Although on the other hand, some may warm up to a narrative driven adventure RPG if the story is interesting.

I think previews alone have made it clear this game will not be empty like MGSV was, and has significantly more environmental variety.

Eh, I wouldn't worry about another MGSV scenario. Even the April 2015 barebones Duscae demo had more than that travesty.

...... :(

Source.

Cool, I'm trying to figure out which ones are unique/named NPCs. They are in some cases pretty easily distinguishable. And some we know already. Like Wiz, the chocobo rancher, or Dino the reporter or the crazy frog lady whose name I have forgotten.
OMG, that woman with the shades and umbrella...that's not...you know who, right...? >__>

The presence of that astronaut is intriguing. Another FFVIII esque romp into space perhaps?

Those are not astronauts, those seem to be workers of the Lestallum power plant, which are also all female as we have learned. Bottom left you see one of the women with her helmet off.

Did not realize that until just now

I....never looked at it from that angle. Interesting.

I thought it was more like a "worst nightmare" situation where Niflheim successfully took over the world and magitek troops were such an integral part of everything now that it was made to look like they took the place of humans entirely....riding in trains, reading newspapers, messing around on their phones, etc.

There's only one playable character, and his name is Noctis.

Party members and guest party members are imo "playable" when you have them in your team and you can give them cues for attacks or other special skills.

At best guest characters for a segment or two, besides we seen Iris chill with the bros in the car and with noctis around town.

Yes, I know that. But this NPC chart could mean that she will not be a real party member in combat.
I actually don't really care for Iris but I had hopes Gentiana would be part of the party at some point. :/
We'll see...
