Give it to meeee.

Also lol at people believing Mario Kart will release that fast on Switch. I'd say it would be a 2018 release.

it was shown in the reveal trailer and is an enhanced port of Mario Kart 8

first 6 months is pretty much guaranteed

Uh that's huge news that deserves its own thread.

not really new news, it's been rumored by her and emily rogers multiple times. she just reiterated that point again.

You cannot keep an entire new game console secret in this day and age. Nintendo was foolish to try. The PS4 and Durango had YEARS of leaks and they were just regular game boxes with traditional leaps.

Fair enough, I'm just not use to seeing something leak this bad.

Switch has not leaked that much for the amount of time Nintendo has been sitting on this thing

Come on. The only thing we don't know are minor details, price, and Reggie's wife favorite color. I have a feeling that the only thing we won't know yet by January 12th is Reggie's wife favorite color.

I'm sure they'll live.

I hope so. I grew up and owned every Nintendo console. I really want the Switch to be a success for them.

True, but Nintendo should be thankful that we only got the leaks that we did. I don't know how they kept the system as concealed as they did for so long. Had it been any other tech company, we would've had full system or dev kit pics and everything with launch being only 5 months away...

Leaks usually happen for most consoles but (imo) to this extent. I mean I remember the PS4 reveal(it's what lead me to find Gaf) and the whole thread was eating crow on its specs. We seem to know everything except for price and minor details.

That was predictable due that Monster Hunter XX release that (18/03)
A lot, if not all her leaks have been the same way.

Newsflash - Switch to use memory cards (you expected a disc in a handheld)

Newsflash - the dock doesn't add processing power and it doesn't support external storage (this was visually apparent to anyone with a brain after the reveal)

I just don't get these "leaks"

Some of them are legit reporting, and I respect that, but there are some that pretty much common sense. I don't know if I can hold that against the ones reporting it, though. They're just the messengers. Here's one that I heard from my sources:

The new Mario game is supposed to appeal to the fans of the more traditional 3D Mario, but Nintendo also want to make it accessible to new players. It's said to play like a cross between Mario Galaxy & 3D World. There's also a 2 player mode and it's not a launch game.

See, I read that in a positive way - as in, she's a woman, not a chick. Otherwise, your assessment is accurate.

OT: It's looking increasingly likely that this will be the fifth new Nintendo platform I buy alongside a Monster Hunter game, and I'm fine with that.

Neat. Were you given this prior or after the Switch trailer?

That basically does sum up what the new 3D Mario game looks like. There's hints of 3D World/Land in there but there also seems to be some sort of return to a Galaxy/64 style of gameplay, especially with the inclusion of the triple jump.

In regards to the two player mode, I'd like to see Nintendo take advantage of the Switch's portability factor and have it so another user can play with their own device, letting them have their own screen to themselves rather than using forcing everyone to use the same camera or use a shitty splitscreen mode. I remember when I played through 3D World with my brother, he remarked on how it was unfortunate how Nintendo didn't take advantage of the Wii U's gamepad for this, and I agree.

not really sure how you could think that tbh
I dunno, I see some folks making all these magical fantasy lists with big Nintendo games releasing like no tomorrow and I'm like "guys, come on, you honestly think Nintendo will blow their load in the first year like this, with all the big names out there?" That's not realistic at all. And I don't know, I feel Nintendo would make an entirely new MK for Switch.

a balance between 3D World and Galaxy would be amazing

a port of Mario Kart 8 has been rumored for a bit and I sincerely doubt Nintendo would have shown it in the reveal trailer if it wasn't releasing within the first 6 months of the console's life cycle. also really confused by your comment that it looks like a proof of concept or whatever. looks like Mario Kart 8 with some things added. the track is yoshi's circuit which was a part of the DLC they released.

Emily Rogers did say that the Switch's first year would "blow Wii U's out of the water". Take that as you will.

This is the day my daughter is supposed to be born...

Sorry Nintendo but you're going to have to wait a little while. Good thing is my birthday is the 26th so maybe I'll get a nice present. Doubt I'll get much time to game but that's not a priority over my daughter.

Well, I guess we'll see soon enough then. Hope Nintendo has some good stuff at the ready for the long term.

If she's late by a day then you have the day after pretty secure in terms of boredom.

Are you sure? This new console looks really good.

Monster Hunter XX, Zelda, Splatoon or Mario Kart, new minigames collection/new IP. NBA 2k, FIFA, Skyrim. Plus one surprise probably.

None of them are leaks, they're all official reveals. I meant some surprise game development. Something for the launch window. Games that Platinum, Retro, Monolith and Mistwalker have been working on. 3rd party ports like Call of Duty or Mass Effect. I can't believe none of them has been leaked yet.

PS: That basketball game is not necessarily NBA 2K, at the end of the trailer, only NBA's copyright was shown. No 2k or anything. It could be NBA Live or even someone else's (Nİntendo?) baskeball game.

And MH is coming for 3DS, I'm not sure if Switch MH is the same as 3DS one.

About a month after financial aid refunds, and I'll probably have my tax return by then. I'll probably end up waiting if Smash isn't there at launch, but it's nice knowing I'd be able to afford a new console on launch day for once. That's also a week after spring break, which means there's a good chance I'll be done with P5 and Horizon by the time it comes out. Hopefully someone does end up leaking the launch line-up so I can plan far in advance.

I feel like I heard this days ago. For some reason the 17th was in my head. Pretty sure she or someone else had mentioned it before. Still, nice, and I'm assuming that's also the date for Zelda.

I took Monster Hunter's announcement for March 18th release as the Switch announcement for March 18th release
