It's always Target that seems to be the main offender when it comes to return scams, even though every time I return a game, a customer associate opens the plastic to see if a game is truly there. It's pretty much why I open up my games as soon as buy them at Target unless I plan to exchange right away.

For my 3, I bought Battlefield 1, World of Final Fantasy, and Paper Mario Color Splash.

Still having the same issue too. I'd definitely do a full order if I could get that to work.

Did you try making a second wishlist?

LOL @ Need for Speed in Forza. I wonder how they get the sticker seal and everything back on. I imagine Target will give you hell for it...interesting problem.

Picked up Battlefield 1 for PC and 2 digital copies of Gears of War 4. Got the clerk to see the logic of BF1 being a dvd case with a code so it's the same thing even though thier system didnt see it that way. :)

Man, I wanted to get blazblue, guilty gear revelator, and king of fighters. Target is letting me down.

This happened to me with a game I bought Black Friday to be opened for Christmas from Walmart. La noire. Walmart easily gave me my money back (or store credit but whatever) and I didn't even have my receipt. But it even had a Walmart ad in the case which I found fishy. Some jackass replaced the game with a blank cd. The manager at Walmart said "no worries happens more than you think." Ain't that some shit?

Game couldn't be replaced since they cleared out some Edition sku that didn't exist after Christmas, what luck. Turned me off from ever buying that game lol

It was either a manufacturing mistake or return fraud. You can easily tell if its return fraud by the shrink wrap. It won't be the same as factory wrap.

Well, I just went to Target and they're refusing to exchange it. So I'm out the money.

And you know what, I'm lucky to have a good job and I'm not even really all that concerned about the money.

But they basically treated me like I'm the thief who did this, and didn't even apologize for stealing my $60. And for that reason I'll never shop at a Target again. Fuck them

Yo, I would have demanded to speak to a manager. That's not okay.

Seriously dude, social media bomb that out, that's not okay.

Yeah, I honestly don't know what the proper way to handle this type of situation even is. Like from the customer's shoes, I understand why you'd feel that they should make this right. I mean, they should make this right. You just got scammed. But from their perspective you could obviously be scamming them right now.

It was at Target funnily enough where I had something similar happen to me. Back in 2012 shortly after Wii U launched they had a buy 2 get 1 free on Wii U games. The Assassin's Creed III copy I bought not only didn't have the correct disc in the box, but didn't have a disc at all. I went back and sheepishly tried to explain the circumstances and how I knew that this was probably a tricky situation, and the Customer Service person seemed flustered as though I think she believed me, I don't think she could actually process the return with no game. A security person had to actually authorize it. I don't know if that position even still exists as I haven't noticed these people walking around the store like they used to. They were people that were dressed more like police officers than Target employees.

You should have accused them of literally stealing your money, and that you will tell everyone you know to never shop at target again if you don't get your money back. I would have been yelling at them and asking for higher management if they thought I did this. Customer always comes first in this situation.

Charge back then

Yup. That's what I'd do if they didn't listen.

It's definitely a tough situation. I appreciate that it is.

It just really sucks to be the person who got screwed and then be treated like you're the person trying to do the screwing. When I say I won't shop at Target again it's not even out of anger, it's because they apparently don't stand behind what they sell.

It is what it is I guess. I'll call my credit card company

Yeah. I'm kind of surprised that they didn't just make the exchange. Did you only speak to one rep in store? I'd probably have asked to speak to a manager myself. Not saying it definitely would have worked. But I spend enough money on my Red Card a year that I kind of feel like they should be honor bound to give me the benefit of the doubt in such a situation.

I spoke to the rep and then the manager, both basically said the same thing.

So on a totally unrelated note, anyone have impressions on Need For Speed Rivals?

Totally not acceptable.
Exchanging for the exact same product is what they should have done.

I would start a charge back for sure.

What do you mean by this? Should B1 for PC not work with this deal? If anything, shouldn't the digital GoW4 not work?

Similar story, I bought B1 for PS4, and 2 for XBO. I went yesterday to switch the PS4 one with PC. The girl couldn't figure out how to do it, so instead she returned the B1 for 37$ ish, and then gave me various discounts on the PC and it actually ended up costing me 30$. I'll take it!

Same thing happened to me at Best Buy years ago and same result. I would recommend making a tweet mentioning target. I bet that will get you some traction

How would that be any better in Target's eyes though. It doesn't matter if he's exchanging for the same product or not, he's going to be ending up with 2 Forza's for the price of 1, at least in their eyes. It's a tough call, I'm not really sure what the right thing to do is.

Because media like CDs, movies, or games that are opened are only to be exchanged for the same product.
I realize it's not exactly the same but it makes less sense for for someone to scam for the same game.

And really they shouldn't distrust their customer like that unless they know it's a repeat offender.

I mean, I don't disagree with you. But I can see why they wouldn't. Sucks for both parties.

It does suck for both parties, but where 1 of those parties is a multi billion dollar company, maybe they could give me the benefit of the doubt this one time

That happened to me with Tomb Raider but luckily the Target ppl were nice enough to let me exchange it two years ago.

And only yesterday I thought one of the game I bought was defective b/c it wouldn't do anything when I inserted it into the system. I took it back and told them what happened and to see if they'd let me check it on their demo machine to see if it was indeed defective or it was just my machine. They said they couldn't use their demo machine and just gave me a brand new copy.
And it still didn't work. In the end after much restarting and adjusting xbone angle, the disc finally worked. So I guess it just depends on the type of people at your Target.

I picked up a cod pre-order card (that comes with a 5 dollar gift card) to be safe.

I shouldn't have any problems swapping TF2:DE for COD. Especially since COD releases in the sale window timeframe. Not going to open any of them until release.

Swapped without issue. +$5 gift card
