Skate or PS2 Tony Hawk?

  • Skate
  • Tony Hawk (PS2 Era)

Just checking which people prefer. The Skate series, or PS2 era Tony Hawk. It was the PS2 era Tony Hawk where the 1 player mode started getting really full and it still had create a park too. Which is why I chose PS2 era to represent Tony Hawk. On the other hand, Skate started a new trend of using the dual analog sticks to do tricks. It also had custom soundtracks on both PS3 and 360. So if you had to choose, which one would you pick?

I'd go with Skate myself, Tony Hawk was fun with it's create a park, but the custom soundtracks of Skate 2 and 3 kept me and my brothers playing a long time.

Tony Hawk going rapidly downhill after 3 has largely tainted its legacy, but those first few games were great.

I enjoy Skate, but have never got seriously into them. It is just a lot of fun to skate around the city though.

Very hard. I absolutely loved the Skate games but I put MANY hours into the PS2 Tony Hawks up to Underground. So much fun playing those games online.

I have to give this to THPS 3,4, and Underground. They are more fun to pick up and play. Skate is fantastic though and I really wish that a 4th game was coming soon.

Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2 is the beat skateboarding game ever but I've been playing Skate 3 on backwards compatibility and it can be really satisfying in its own way.

I only rented Skate via Gamefly for a while a loong time ago, and I didn't like it.

I prefer the Tony Hawk games (the older ones at least). I thought they were like "comfort-food" fun.

Skate is a good series but the TH series is on another level. Constantly changing the games up but keeping the core the same. I can still recite Tony Hawk's Underground pretty much from memory.

Tony Hawk is a very arcadey, better game. Skate is a deeper physics sandbox game with funny ragdolls.

They're both great and representative of their gaming gen eras. Aside from the subject matter, honestly not at all comparable.

I prefer Tony Hawk because I was 12 when it came out.

720 during the arcade days was awesome.

T&C Surf, Skate or Die 1and 2 on nes. Grind Session, THPS 1 thru 4.

The Skate games blew em all way for me. Though TH and Skate are kinda apples and oranges

Absolutely skate.

Don't get me wrong, I played the SHIT out of of THPS2 on PC back in the day, but my god was skate fun. Skate 2 is probably one of my favourite games of all time, going back and playing anything like THUG or THPS or THAW is just kinda painful now.

What kind of Sophie's choice bs is this?!? ;)

Like my kids, I love them both equally. One is just so much more behaved (Skate)

I didn't like Skate, it was too tame and realistic for my taste. I'm not a skater and don't care about physics, I'd rather soar to the sky pulling tricks as Spiderman.

Skate 2 is one of the best games I've ever played. So deep. So much fun. So much random physics nonsense.

Tony Hawk 1-4 hold a special place for everyone, I won't deny that, but Skate 2 was just so much more dynamic than any of the TH games. Free Skate sessions online was a part of my daily routine. Hours spent doing nothing but trying to top someone else's line/trick, and goofing around with all the mechanics. Going back to TH after the initial Skate demo in 2007 was like going back to the caveman era.
