Where from?
Once my chickens have hatched...
Where from?
I couldn't get the screw off originally when trying to switch the stock HDD for my old 1TB SSHD I had used with PS4, but have since been able to loosen the screw. Question is, should I go through with the hard drive swap?
That's what I'm talking about. SSD all day.
Gotta re download everything I guessWhy wouldn't you?
If you just wanted a Pro for loading times, you missed the whole point of Pro and why it actually costs moreIf there is no difference between PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro in terms of faster loading with a SSD, I just don't understand what is causing the bottleneck, because i thought it was a SATA II thing. SATA III is almost identical here.
If there's no difference, I will end up buying a Slim.
Lower capacity, 500GB SSDs are working fine in the Pro, right?

The Japanese website posted earlier in this page shows there is a difference for pro patched games.

Yeah, and Bloodborne marks a 1 second difference between them. SATA III isn't just meaning anything then.

Yeah, I've got an 850 EVO 500GB in my launch PS4, just going to get a feel for the Pro with the stock 1TB HDD before swapping it in.I've had no issues with a 750GB crucial SSD and wouldn't expect 500GB drives to have any problems. Went from a 2TB 5400 drives on the launch PS4 and the load times are night and day.
God those screws are tough
Any reason you went with an 850 Pro? Could've saved a good chunk of change with an 850 Evo or even more with a Crucial MX300.2TB 850 Pro arriving today!
Guess I will see how the Witcher 3 load times are impacted.
Just pop it in, the PS4 will take care of any formatting it needs to do. You just need a USB stick with the system firmware file ready. If I buy a a brand new evo 850 ssd is there anything I need to do before installing it into the ps4 pro? Or is it good to go straight out of the box? Thanks!

They weren't for me.

Yeah it does although I find it hard to read the table? Are they doing 3 runs for every game? Some games starts off a lot better for Firecuda.Thanks. it seems for these games the Toshiba SSHD is much better than the Seagate.
Amazon UK seems to be out of stock on all the drives people are suggesting here. Would this one work? http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/computing-accessories/components-and-upgrades/internal-data-storage/seagate-stbd2000102-2-5-internal-hard-drive-2-tb-10144016-pdt.html

I don't have any knowledge of this stuff.
Can I increase my load times on pro and how much will it run me?
Thanks.
If you are going that direction you could save yourself £30 and go with this...

You simply have to take the external casing off to free the HDD from within, but it is a very easy process. If you are careful, you also can re house your old PS4 HDD into the casing and have a spare external hardware to use however you wish.

I have just opened up the case on this one from Amazon UK
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00TKFEE5S/
inside was a Seagate Mobile 2 TB Internal HDD - 2.5" - ST2000LM007. quieter also than previous models, which is actually 7mm in height, as apposed to the normal 9mm seagate found in backup plus drives. it is the latest revision HDD with 128MB cache also. works perfect in the pro. is also cheaper at £57.99
That's interesting, thanks for posting this. Looking at the spec sheets it essentially seems to be the same mechanical drive as the Firecuda minus the flash.
Half the price of the Firecuda and in stock now too.... mmm not sure what to go for now.
Lol, more power to ya then, brother.Honestly, no reason at all other than was gifting myself and this has been a great year for me.
A Pro for my Pro?
Needed that on paper +10MB/s?
More endurance?
God those screws are tough
What a colossal difference, holy shit. 60 seconds with a HDD, 17 with an SSD. So glad I put one in my Pro.

You can decrease load times on the Pro by buying a SSD. Doing so will only affect some games, as not all games are created equal. It is noticeably having a good effect on many games, but it should not be expected to be a fix for good load times across the board.
SSD are still expensive when you compare price to GB. However, 750GB seem like the sweet spot for decent size vs okay price. There are 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB SSDs available, but the price skyrockets for every step up that ladder you make.
I have no idea what country you are from, so I cannot do price comparisons, but type "Crucial mx300" into Amazon, and start looking at the prices compared to the GB/TBs for an idea of what to expect.
I'm so tempted by this now too.
Is there going to be much of a difference in speed to the SSHD? Is this pretty foolproof to do, too?
Wow. Can anyone with the Firecuda test the same loading times? I'm not home or else I would.
Yes they're easy to open, the caddy on the previous model was just glued together so you just need to carefully pry the top off and insert the drive into the PS4.
In the case of the performance if you go back over the past couple of pages there are benchmarks showing SSHDs do perform better but I'm not sure they are 2x the cost better as would be the case here?
