EA Will Bring “One of their Bigger Games” To Nintendo Switch

Did we get Battlefront 1 on Wii U? No? There's you're answer about Disney. If Switch doesn't provide the market needed for it, Disney can't do shit.

I thought it would be self evident that the Switch is not the WiiU so pointing to the WiiU and going "see? that again" is ridiculous, but apparently not.

There was no Frostbite on WiiU, and the WiiUs fate was already sealed by the time it was released - even ignoring the changes that have been made at Disney regarding their videogames output since then.

ANY game released on the Switch will correspond to there being Frostbite on the Switch.
If Disney are taking an active interest in how their franchises are being managed - and things like a Disney-led Insomniac Spiderman suggest that there is someone there paying attention to these things - there is going to be interest in putting their Star Wars games on any viable platform - which - again, apparently I must point this out, it is not 2013 and the Switch is not the WiiU - the Switch is.

I don't think anybody from Disney care about Switch. They have a contract with EA and it's EA's call.

There've been a bunch of Disney and Marvel games on the Wii U too, so I think Star Wars on Switch isn't that out there. Hell there was even a Vita-exclusive Muppets game in 2014.

We'll get FIFA. 2K seems down with an NBA game, shitty sport ports are considered "big" in the eyes of publishers.

Edit: Garden Warfare 2 would actually be pretty great, I think it'd fit in nice on the system as a lighthearted fun team shooter, Splatoon showed there's an audience for that kind of game on Nintendo platforms and I bet Garden Warfare would manage to do pretty well. I'd totally get it.

I suspect it will be a bare-bones version of FIFA, which they will then re-release every year with an updated roster.

This isn't a great sign wrt Western third party support. Nintendo should be aiming for all EA games, not "one of the bigger ones."

It's unrealistic to expect EA to be able to port all of their games to such a relatively underpowered device.

It's going to be Dragon Age Inquisition complete edition and Fifa.

Weren't the spects of the Swich inferior to PS4 and Xbone? I don't see such inferior hardware running Mass Effect Andromeda or Battlefront/Battlefield smoothly.

Disney absolutely do care about the Switch - in as much as they care about their brand on any dedicated gaming devices - and they also care about how their franchises are handled.
EA are ultimately a franchisee for someone elses property, and the owner of that property is ultimately the only person who really does care how it is used.

It's obviously Star Wars. Its about the only thing guaranteed to sell well on the Switch.

Will Battlefront run on the Switch? Assuming it is BF that they could be referring to, the other games are pretty far out.

It'll be a game that's at least several months old. It won't sell all that well. Then they'll stop supporting the system in any meaningful way.

In terms of budget ? Certainly not. I'm pretty sure things like Mass Effect Andromeda are bigger in both budget and scope.

In terms of importance and revenue.

I'm pretty sure if EA had to rank their franchise in terms of value, FIFA would be largely on top.

There's nothing mishandled about Batlefront 2 if there is no market for it on Switch. It doesn't have any impact on the brand whatsoever. Their brand will be pretty fine with the next Lego Star Wars anyhow.

What are you talking about? EA didn't blame anybody.
It was just not worth it for them to release games on Wii U anymore.

And Fifa and NFS on Wii U are really great games, too bad that Wii U owners didn't buy them despite the long droughts that Nintendo bundled with the system.

They were all late ports. All of them. Nobody would buy them. It was EA's fault for expecting people to buy inferior late ports. That's the point.

Is that supposed to be encouraging? 'guys we're actually making a game for this thing! please pay attention! what? all of our other franchises?' *walks away laughing*
