Cory Barlog said it was BS, so I guess it's up to who you believe: An unverified poster on GAF or the director of the game.

Wait, Barlog said it? Got a link? Anyway, hope they'll get it out the door soon, Sony's been pretty slow on getting first party games out of the oven this gen.

Now this may not be the case, but my interpretation of Shinobi's post is that the E3 demo is basically just a vertical slice which will bear little resemblence to the actual sequence in the final product. The demo's purpose was to tease what the story will be about and how it will unfold, along with introducing a brand new side of Kratos, the kid and revamped combat mechanics. With the demo behind them, SSM are now pretty hard at work, building up the game. Now, I wouldn't rule out a Fall 2017 release yet, but a delay to 2018 is very likely.

Edit: Again, I would like to point to the E3 2012 demo of The Last Of Us. You can clearly see that many instances had highly scripted AI, where they performed perfectly on time to keep the flow of the demo. In addition, features like crouch running and hunters looking in drawers were completely removed and the UI was redesigned completely. The demo is basically a showcase of the gameplay mechanics and tone of the game. Yet, TLOU released a year later. I expect the same for GOW4, well, except the release date.

Demo was made for the presentation, will be different in the real game, game didn't start from Scratch, they are just doing things right.

I wish they stop doing demo build and just show the game when it's ready. What's the point if the finished article would be different??

Seeing as they're sharing the stage with Sackboy, Atoi and Frances (pink ribbon bear girl) I wouldn't be surprised if those other characters are from Dreams' Mm-made story.

Wow that shit on horizon thread because of one bad previous game (eventhough mercenary, rigs, liberation and kz2 n 3 are solid games) pisses the crap out of me. What's worse to me is that people are purposely ignoring the slew of positive previews about the game

I know... I cant look in that thread. I have not heard one bad thing about the game from hands on previews and I am looking forward to trying it myself at PSX!

I tried to reason with some of them, but eventually just said fuck it.

Yep, posted a few times and then bailed. Just let the nonsense continue to sludge and bubble.

I never understood the hate train for the killzone series on this site. It made me recently look up the meta's for the killzones and I were shocked to see the scores weren't very bad at all. In fact 2 is in the 90's. Gg's problem seems to be story and characters fix that for horizon and they're solid! Never had problems with gameplay

Short term goals are good for focusing development. That demo will have forced a large number of systems to be brought to full production quality.

It's how we make the sausage.

I tried to reason with some of them, but eventually just said fuck it.

It's not worth the effort. It looks great, has an amazing premise, looks technically stunning and previews/hands-ons have been very positive. But because the Killzone games have been just 'good' for the most part (which in Internet Hyperbole Land means they're all garbage), Guerrilla can't possibly improve even though they've clearly made efforts to address their weaknesses.

We've seen games that had good-great previews where the retail version was less than a stunning success (word of mouth/critically).

We've also seen games that have had mixed previews where the retail version took folk by surprise (word of mouth/critically).

Everyone just needs to wait for the game to come out and form their opinions from there.

Yeah, I was surprised by the reactions of some on that thread, but I undesrstand that some are skeptical on the story and how dense and compelling the world will be. There is no preview that can show exactly how that will work troughout the whole game

What I can say having played around 20min of it in a trade show, is that gameplay is incredibly solid, with fantastic animations both from Aloy and wildlife/enemies. That 3rd person open world jank is not something Im concerned about it on Horizon

As much as I am hyped for it, this is basically it. Nothing is assured until we can analyze the thing ourselves on our own consoles

I sure do hope and believe it will be no less than great

It's pretty common on GAF where someone makes for a thread because they think they have something to prove. Just look at the week following the Switch reveal.

So Shinobi has been hinting at a Wipeout remaster. I wonder who's handling it. Seems too small of a project for Bluepoint. Maybe Firesprite as a test run before working on a their own new Wipeout?

Now that infamous SS+FL is back in the media thanks to the pro, quite curious to see what Sucker Punch is going to reveal when they rock up with their new game.

E3 2017? it has to be right? First Light came out E3 2014 so they have to show something 3 years later.

yeah with any luck next year.

It's been a while; and Infamous just looks so incredible still and that was a launch title. Can't wait to see what they're making.

With psx coming up, what should we expect to see given that there was no european conference this year? It seems like we know what every Sony first party is doing except for sucker punch. Are there some first party or second party devs I'm forgetting about for Sony that have something big on the way?

Also, as far as third party, where is deep down? Capcom just used their last trademark renewal for it so they have to reveal it soon right? Also, From is supposedly working on another ps4 exclusive soon.

I was just about to buy Wipeout HD for my PS3, lol

Mmm well at this point I imagine
Naughty dog is starting on the last of us 2
Sony Japan should have something cooking in the early stages..maybe
Guerrilla Cambridge may be cooking more than just rigs.

ND has said that they now have 2 teams and 2 games are currently been developed, and yes TLOU2 is probably one. The other is probably the sci-fi game shown in Uncharted4.

I still have hope that TLOU2 will be released in Summer 2017, probably delayed to Fall 2017, around September or October.

Wha? Summer 2017 is half a year away and it's been half a year since the release of Uncharted 4. Whatever ND will do next won't come out until late 2018 at best.

Oh, my God. I just realized my huge mistake. I meant Summer 2018. Apologies. XD

Sci-fi game shown in Uncharted 4?! That would be amazing but I have no idea what you mean.

Nah, I reckon even if ND is big enough now to have two completely separate development teams, they'll still all have mucked in on the final months of Uncharted 4, meaning that if they do have a second game in the works it'll only have been in full development now for a handful of months. I reckon mid-2018 for their next game.

See my correction. I meant mid 2018 as well. :p

They don't have two full production teams, they have two pre-production teams and then move everyone else back and forth depending on which game is in full production. It's a strategy designed to reduce layoffs between projects because as soon as one project finishes, they move most of the staff straight over to the next one.

And one of the teams will be working on the Uncharted 4 DLC at the moment.

I expect more ''2nd party'' stuff with some digital game announcements, since thats more what PSX is about. Big guns like Sucker Punch will be saved for E3 2017

Uncharted 4 DLC should open the keynote, and I expect studios like Pixelopus and Ovosonico to show their new games. Also, release date/available now moment of Drawn To Death and some light on Edith Finch as well.

Also, Im sure we will see more first/second party VR games announced there.

Tbh I wouldn't be surprised if Bruce/Neil are only overseeing the work on UC4's dlc and are spending the majority of their time building the foundation for their next full project, whether that be TLOU2 or a new ip. This would let Josh Scherr to become creative director with perhaps a design lead taking over Bruce's role. This would let them to get back to how things were before Amy/Justin left, with UC3 and TLOU being in development at the same time.

Adding to this, it looks like they've brought on an additional writer. Her name is Haley Gross and she recently worked on Westworld, co-writing the past 2 episodes with Jonathan Nolan. I'm not sure if she's there to help out Neil, or working on another project but it's definitely an interesting hire.
