STAR WARS

EPISODE VIII - THE BACKSTROKE OF THE WEST

THAT HELICOPTER THAT WAS CIRCLING THE ISLAND HAS GONE. WE'RE SORRY ABOUT THAT. LUKE SKYWALKER HAS TAKEN THE LIGHTSABER GIVEN TO HIM BY REY AND THROWN IT INTO THE OCEAN. BECAUSE HE HATES THAT THING AND EVERYONE THAT USES IT LOSES A HAND.

Now get rid of the movie and get us the Ewan McGregor Obi-Wan movie instead.

Edit: Glad I'm not alone in this sentiment.

I always liked the Boba Fett character for what he was in Empire Strikes Back: the best bounty hunter with a penchant for disintegrations.

His appearances anywhere else outside of fan-service boss battles in SW games have sucked (including RotJ), and I see little need expand beyond what he was in Episode V.

Ewan desperately wants to be in a good Star Wars movie. I wouldn't be surprised if we see Force Ghost Obi-Wan in one of the new movies

We just had Episode 7 and Episode 8 is around the corner

Star wars is such a blank slate for stuff that having every movie take place in a 50 year window is lame

KOTOR was such a breath of fresh air. Also a lot of the Old EU as well

No lies detected. KOTOR is legitimately one of the best contributions to the franchise. It's probably the best EU story that isn't Thrawn and it's a better prequel than the prequels.

Boba Fett is such a lame character. Who is asking for this?

His origins have already been covered.

What the hell was George Lucas's obsession with seeing everyone as a six year old?

WHAT. Seriously? I think I'm going to be sick. I always knew that was Greedo's race obviously but holy shit is this lazy and stupid that it's actually him.

In a massive universe they felt it was reasonable that Luke(by way of Anakin), C3PO, and fucking Greedo all have origins from the same neighborhood in Episode 1? My god.

We have an entire galaxy of new characters to explore. Fuck the OT backstories.

Oh I definitely agree. I think the best Star Wars story after the OT is KOTOR so I would love to explore new characters and places. It's just that an Obi-Wan movie sounds much better than what we're actually getting.

But hey! at least it isnt a rip off like TFA was. Gotta appreciate the world building and orginality.

Fuck Boba. Bossk, IG-88 and Zuckuss all looked way more interesting in the lineup. Jango held his own against Kenobi, which is more than I can say for Boba at the Sarlacc.

Speaking of Kenobi...please make that movie before Ewan gives up.

If it helps, which it probably won't, Anakin's friend isn't Greedo, that's Wald. Anakin just ends up randomly fighting Greedo in the street in a deleted scene.

But we already did! ;)

But yeah, a Ewan McGregor Obi-Wan film needs to happen.

George Lucas was a madman.

Remember when Chewbacca met Yoda for some reason? Remember that?

That's not Greedo.

It's Wald.

This is almost as funny as when people complain about prequel CG, but cite things that are actually models or sets.

From Wookiepedia:

The original intention was that the Greedo scuffling with Anakin Skywalker in the scene that was cut from The Phantom Menace and later included as part of the bonus material on the DVD, would be the same Greedo seen in A New Hope, and that Wald's prediction would foreshadow Greedo's death at the hands of Han Solo. George Lucas also stated in the commentary for the deleted scene that this was the same Greedo that appeared in A New Hope

This.

All this Boba Fett hate is weird, I presume it's a reaction to the unadulterated fan-wankery he received in the old EU? The reason people remembered him at all from the OT was due to a cool design and the air of mystery. That's it, that's fine, he served his purpose in the story.

I'll also add that two spinoffs without Obiwan (Ewan) is a complete waste of time (if you're going the route of previous characters).

Did ANYONE want a Solo and Fett film? Jesus.

From what I remember, the pitch for the Fett film was basically like a spaghetti western in the Star Wars universe - with Fett basically filling the role of Clint Eastwood in Good/Bad/Ugly. I would have been cool with that because that sounds like a good pitch.

A Han Solo film though, seriously, fuck that. I could see that movie easily flopping because who the fuck wants a Han Solo movie without Harrison Ford?

they are actually going with a spaghetti western style for the Han Solo movie + there are lots of talented people involved with the movie. Im willing to give them a chance.

Variety said:
Lucasfilm is also developing a spinoff movie looking at the early days of Han Solo and Chewbacca. Alden Ehrenreich (“Hail, Caesar!”) will take Solo’s blaster from Harrison Ford, with Chris Miller and Phil Lord (“The Lego Movie”) directing.

“This moves closer to a heist or Western type feel,” says Kennedy. “We’ve talked about [Frederic] Remington and those primary colors that are used in his paintings defining the look and feel of the film.”

I don't care what they say about that han solo movie it sounds like a trash idea. Lord and Miller arent good enough to make me give it the benefit of the doubt either.

That idea sounds fantastic. However they really fucked him over in Jedi.. it's kinda like.. we're getting a full movie about some idiot that accidentally got knocked into a Sarlacc pit by a fumbling blind man? I'd be so down to see more of the bounty life though, that's some of the lesser explored worlds in the canon.

I dunno that just doesn't sit right with me. They made him out to be some throwaway dude.

Glad to see they are distancing themselves from the tropes of the saga films, hopefully they'll also avoid their formulas as well. I want this one to be unique and stand out. Although it will be weird to see no opening crawl...

Kasdan has been dying to make this movie for years. It's got a great cast (except dragon lady). It's got great talent. Who do you trust more? Lord/Miller or Gareth Edwards?

History will prove me right. Unless it doesn't, which is fine, because I'd like Rogue One to be good.

Because the entire Star Wars saga literally revolves around him (At least, before Episode 7). It would be like creating a Seinfeld spin-off for the character of Jerry Seinfeld.

Say what you will but I suggest a Vader film only because they are considering a Bobba Fett film. The former is considerably more appealing and important to me. Understanding how and why he was motivated, as well as his personal grievances between episode 3 and 4 makes for a more compelling movie than fucking Bobba Fett.

But instead of both, I'd take an Obi-wan movie in a heartbeat.

I have a hard time trusting the people who helped give us Son of Zorn
