Upcoming Vita Games (200+ Upcoming games in ENGLISH) || 2016 Edition ||

Just as long as we get some gameplay footage or something of said games on youtube later. Because anything would be better than what they did for E3 where they had a bunch of devs make trailers for their games, yet they didn't even show 2secs of the games in the montage at the end.

Haven't expected anything from E3 for years. Even Gamescom has been better.

In 2014, 14 games were announced for Vita by my count (if you include Suikoden 1/2 which is tenuous). In 2015, 4 games were announced. So this year we're either minus 6 announcements or very, very few. Yet I still kinda expect at least a quick whip out from Gio Corsi and a "Samurai Shodown V Special is coming to PS4... and Vita!" or something.

They've run out of Tim Schafer Lucasarts games to handle, sadly :p

Any feedback on MeiQ: Labyrinth of Death? I like my drpgs hard, with complex maps, hard combat, and lots of lewt. Easy ones bore me fast.

So is this the Vita community thread?

Don't know where else to ask, sorry in advance. D:

I own a used Vita with a somewhat broken left analog stick. Sometimes (every 15min or so) it will randomly register the stick moving upwards, even though I don't touch it - which isn't too bad, since I predominantly use my Vita for Visual Novels and the like, so it only gets bad if those have mini games that require actual controls.

So with that in mind, can anyone recommend or dissuade me from the following games that will be on sale on EU PSN on black friday:

Lost Dimension
- I am intrigued by the story aspect of having different outcomes for same situations. I think I heard people comment negatively on the actual game quality?

Trillion: God of Destruction
- I know this is a popular IP in Japan, but... that's all I know. What is it?

Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir
- Pretty sure I want to buy this, but not sure how fvcked I will be with my broken left stick.

A.W. : PHOENIX FESTA
- The description of this game tells me exactly NOTHING of what it is. Help?

Gravity Rush
- Not usually my type of game + left stick issues - again, how fvcked would I be?

Ar nosurge Plus: Ode to an Unborn Star
- I guess I'll just buy that, heard great things - any comments?

Adventures To Go!
- whoa, is this an SRPG!?

Sweet Fuse: At Your Side
- It's already bought, too late. It's mine. I have it now.

It's about as average as can be. I've heard that harder difficulties make it a little more noteworthy once you unlock them, but it is a slog going through the game on normal and I would honestly say that on normal at least, every other drpg minus Moe Chronicle is better (I didn't really like MC all that much other than the obvious reason). If you get any drpg and want everything you described, get Dungeon Travelers. Seriously, if you want a good drpg, do yourself a favor there, because none of the others on the system compare to it.

Good to see that you enjoy the game after you were so worried about the setting at the beginning.

Yeah... guess I was just burnt by Persona which was a few hours of literally people just going to high school. This just feels like classic JRPG and the school stuff is pretty low key and mostly combat focused anyway so it's all good. Music is great too. Super happy with it so far.

Lost Dimension is great. I wrote a review of it here:

https://kresnik258gaming.wordpress.com/2016/03/25/vita-lost-dimension-review/

AW is a game based on an anime. It's a cheaply made action game. Kinda fun for a bit. Also has dating sim bits.

Gravity Rush requires a lot of movement so you might not enjoy it.

Ar no Surge is fantastic, niche JRPG with lots of storytelling. I think you'd enjoy it.

Don't know what to make of this re. Bloodstained:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y1s0PnFnMtU&t=2545

(if it doesn't work, time stamp should be 42:25)

Ben Judd, who I understand has been heavily involved in the promotion of the game and hired by Iga, had this to say about the Vita port:

"As far as I know, it is not a problem. All the Vita-ites should not be worried"

Mmm........

Considering Armpature likely shifted production of the Wii U version over to the Switch, that would mean they are still working on the Vita version.

But I am just going to assume the Vita version is scrapped until we see gameplay of the game running on Vita.

This week saw 14 new PSone Classics (notably the first three Toshindens and Thunder Force V) hit the PlayStation Store and the descriptions seem to imply they support screenshots. Not the rare PSone Classics kind where you can do it in the emulator menu, but Vita OS level ones. Anyone with access to a J-PSN account and have interest in those games want to check that out? Weird feature to implement so late in both the program and platform's life.

Nice one. the music played while reading the review in my headl ol. Cant wait for my vita LE to show up. I also have the JP vita CE waiting for me lol.

:D! Glad you enjoyed my review man :).

Edit: Another Interview released on 3WIREL and I was able to talk with Fabrice on Demetrios!
http://3wirel.lostsig.com/2016/11/2...emetrios-the-big-cynical-adventure-pcps-vita/

RK: Shame to hear that the game didn’t sell as well as you wanted but glad to hear that you was happy with the critical reception. When the game was announced for Vita development, how was your reaction to the Vita community?

Fabrice Breton: Unexpectedly awesome! Actually the Vita community is the main reason I was able to make this version. When I posted the Kickstarter, some noticed my game and directed me to Sony who were interested and lent me a dev kit. Now that I’ve done some communication for the upcoming Vita release, I’m noticing so many people are interested in the game, ask me questions about it etc… This didn’t happen with the PC version, so that’s a really nice surprise :).

RK: The Vita community loves it when developers support the platform, myself included, so many of us asking about the title comes with releasing software on the Vita. We are very happy to see you supporting the system with your title. When developing the game on Vita, were there any challenges getting the game to run on Vita? And what design elements you changed or took into consideration once you saw what the hardware could offer Demetrios: The Big Cynical Adventure?

Fabrice Breton: I had some issues with the loading times especially. The Vita CPU clearly doesn’t compare to a modern computer CPU, so I had to use some optimization to make sure the pictures and text files load quick enough to make it an enjoyable experience on the Vita. The Loading Times are near-instant on PC, while they take 1-2 seconds between each screen on the Vita.

I was a bit worried that it wouldn’t be enough, but so far the few people who played it said the loading times felt very short and more than acceptable. Also had to squeeze down the graphics to meet the resolution of the Vita (about 1/4th of the original 1080p res) so they can fit in memory, and scale up the interface so the text is easy to read on the Vita screen. And I had to implement proper touch and buttons controls, this took some time but wasn’t the hardest part. All in all, it’s pretty much the same version as PC, just optimized for the console!

I've heard good things about Lost Dimensions. Some didn't like the randomness of how the story changes during different playthroughs, but whatever, the gameplay sounds solid.

Trillion -- I wanted to love this, but I really disliked it. It's basically a 'trainer' game. You pick what they do every day of the week [increase a stat, make a better friend, etc]. Every couple days you run the character through super easy dungeons [reallllly easy]. When you're out of days for that character, you fight a super hard boss and die.

Then you play the next character, who inherits all the power of the previous character. Repeat. Die. Next character. Until you win.

If there was a challenge to the minidungeons, I might have liked it. But it just felt like a grind to me.

As for the actiony games you mentioned [odin, etc] i think you need a working left stick.

Yeah, I plat'd DT2 and almost every other Vita drpg. I don't have moe chron yet and I heard Ray Gigant is too easy so i've been ignoring that even though i own it. But abyss, dt2, sosc, and others all have their plats. even average ones like mind zero.

darn. I wish this one sounded better. I'll probably still get it at a better price point.

Ray Gigant is hilariously easy to plat. I'd never played any DRPG before and even I managed to plat that one! There was a difficulty jump early in part 3 - the first two parts of the game had you power up your characters as you go, and things got (only slightly) tougher from there, but the difficulty rose significantly at the start of chapter 3 where you once again started leveling characters up from scratch, so that was slightly unpleasant. A bit of grinding though and things were back to normal and I don't really recall having any further issues after that (maybe died once against the final boss?). Its not a bad game by far, I actually enjoyed the combat and the looks of the game, but with the characters all being so hateful and idiotic I ended up hating the story, so definitely don't go into the game if you want a decent story!

I jumped into NG+ and overwrote my save in Ray Gigant before getting the parasitism trophy.
No fucking way I'll get that just by letting the parasitism bar fill by itself on the beginning of the game (I mean, I have better uses to my time), so I gave up on the plat ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

But other than that it's a pretty easy plat, indeed.

Holy crap, 3 Toshindens on PSN? Chances of these releasing in the west are like, slim to none right?

Toshinden was a crappy fighting series but I really enjoyed it all the same.

Won't be able to watch this 'til I get home. What's so bad about it?

A heads-up: The Nonary Games now ships to Turkey, and AFAIK it didn't ship to UK before either- you might want to check if you want to import TNG from the US.

They go though the three first levels and the environment/enemies look pretty much identical. The walking animation in human form looks like they're gliding lol.

Yeah, I watched it now. The animation is pretty much the goddesses movement animations from the Neptunia games. And yeah, the environments are bland and horrible =/

Random question:
I know that the the releases of FF:X has 1 as a physical cart, and 2 as a PSN code (region locked). Do all versions of Metal Gear Solid Collection have physical versions of 2&3, or are some psn too? Looking to take advantage of cheap prices elsewhere (I'm in Australia, so Europe psn zone)

All games are on the cart for MGS Collection.

I was in between picking Shiren the Wanderer Limited Edition and Uncharted 4 Libertalia Edition. In the end decided to go for Uncharted since they are the same price and I'm sucker for figures.

Too bad if I want to buy from Amazon.com I also need to pay the import tax due to the EU customs limit, otherwise I could buy the regular edition of Shiren and Exist Archive. Will wait for bigger discounts in Christmas I guess.

Was there any amazing Vita deals during Black Friday? I couldn't follow because of work and the thread is already hundreds of posts long so I don't know if there was anything important.

Is Heavy-Arm reliable? I read nothing but positive experiences with them but personally I think their communication is really lacking. I bought Dragon Quest Builders through them over a month ago but there's no e-mail about restocking or when the game ships. They supposedly only send a shipping confirmation e-mail the week following the actual shipping date. Wtf?
Next time I'll probably stick with play-asia.

You follow their Twitter to be notified about restocks. Don't expect an email for that besides an estimation of the restock date if you ask them.

I don't know about you. But every time I order from them, I get an email from Steve with my tracking info. And no, he doesn't send it a week after shipping. He emails you the day he ships it out from my personal experience.

Heavy-Arm's been hit or miss in my experience. Once they literally just forgot all about my order until I reminded them weeks later, and they were prompt to refund me because it'd gone out of stock by that point. Another time I never got any shipping notice or anything until the game just showed up. My most recent order (Dragon Quest Builders) went really smoothly though. *Shrugs*

Probably depends on how swamped they are with orders, but yeah. I really wish they'd just update their site to allow international customers at this point.

Exactly the same experience here. Ordered at the end of last month and only got a "maybe" confirmation via twitter this week that my order has shipped but no email, tracking number etc. to confirm it (apparently those are coming next week....). Had to chase them a ton just to get that response.
To be honest, not impressed one bit, on the other hand I ordered SD Gundam from Play Asia yesterday and its already shipped. So I won't be ever touching Heavy Arm again that's for sure.

*edit* Speak of the devil. Just got my shipping confirmation email finally.

Hue and Neon Chrome are out next week for the Vita.

Neon Chrome is pretty good. It's by the Crimsonland people, which is one of the best dual stick shooters out there.

In Neon Chrome, however, the game is a bit more structured. You need to ascend a tower, and to do so go through each floor. There are skills to find/unlock, lewt, etc. In a cool twist, you can find special rooms and beating those unlocks new stuff in future games. You spend the money you earn each game on various permanent perks.

It's really good in a lot of ways, though it's missing a touch of 'soul'. I was left wanting more, even though I spent a lot of time with it [after beating it, it's still fun to go and unlock more content/hidden floors/etc].

I think they're just a small operation tbh. Like a regular game store that does international orders on the side and saw their business grow through it quite rapidly.

Took them quite a while (like nearly a week) to send me a shipping confirmation last time I ordered. So I get the frustration over that. But I think that may have to do with them only shipping international orders out on Fridays or Saturdays or so. I mean, that's how I think they work based on my orders with them so far.

I did always get that shipping notification and the tracking number though. And all my emails got replies, even if it took a while at times. So I don't have any reason to distrust them at this point.

Just got the limited edition, hoping it'll reach the Vita stretch goal in the end.
