It looked good vfx wise but it was lacking other things like color grading well placed shots etc

Not that the first one doesn't have nice visuals but I know what you are getting at.

This shot or scene from the sneak peek is amazing.

Will simply disagree.

I thought the shot composition was quite good and the color grading was the best Marvel's ever done.

Best marvel has ever done i completely agree. But I was expecting more from it

Yes there are tons of shots in this trailer which are much much more impressive than the entirety of MCU p1 and p2

Amazing trailer.

That fact that the old school soundtrack has become part of the GOTG marketing across both films is just fantastic, the sort of thing that would never work on paper but works so, so well in execution.

Newest trailer is amazing. Love the Groot and Rocket dynamic.

But man, as much as I love Pratt and the others, Bautista might be the best one. In the original he was such a nice surprise with his timing and has great comedic skills to boot. Last scene was amazing because it was so overdone. Bless Gunn for casting him.

On top of Fox on the Run, the other scrapped songs from Awesome Mix Vol. 1 are...
  • Never Been to Spain by Three Dog Night
  • Magic by Pilot (This song was actually in a deleted scene for GotG Vol. 1)
  • Livin' Thing by Electric Light Orchestra
  • Surrender by Cheap Trick
I'm curious to see if these 4 songs will also be used in Vol. 2 after narrowly missing the cut for Vol. 1.

Eh, I don't know. Lot of the jokes fell flat. Also not a fan of the scene with the team seeming to fighting the big CGI squid monster from Force Awakens in the fake-looking CGI environment. One of the things I really liked about Guardians of the Galaxy was it's relative commitment to practical effects and set design. I hope the sequel doesn't toss that out of the window as a means of delivering a more "epic" story.

The Guardians saving the universe from Cthulu squid monsters was a pretty big part of the comics so a bit of a stretch to say they're ripping of TFA....

I'm just hoping we get a good villain out of this one.

Edit: Beaten by Dopus hahaha so funny

Anyone else have this thing with Guardians where they like all the jokes and gags but they're all a little predictable and/or pedestrian?

It's weird -- I'm a huge fan of the first one, and I'm even more excited for Volume 2, but all the lines in the trailer just seem so expected.

Please don't let the Avengers be in the movie. Please don't let the Avengers be in the movie.

I really hope they leave the Guardian of the Galaxy movies as standalone as possible

They will probably be in the end credits, unless the movie takes us to earth for the final act or something. It's time to tie them into the Earth stuff and bring out our friend Thanos.

well... Pretty sure Avengers won't be in this-but we know Guardians will be in Infinity War. But...

set reports showed filming a big action scene on a Main Street of a small town on Earth. In fact I think it was the same town that Woodsbury was filmed in for Walking Dead. So I imagine the Guardians end up on Earth for the climax of the movie, but if they are stranded-like they are now in the comics-who knows.

I absolutely adore Livin' Thing and Surrender, so here's hoping.

Based on Surrender's lyrics ("Mommy's alright, Daddy's alright, they just seem a little weird"), it's a safe bet.

I'm betting you that's where the Guardians will end up, stranded and all. The comics were just testing the waters.

A little bummed they're pushing the romance angle between Starlord and Gamora, hopefully it won't be a major part. But other than that, looked great.

Action scenes seem weird, hope this teaser trailer didnt just spoil most of the action

Well, the action in the first movie wasn't anything special. They mostly used it to pull off jokes. Serious stuff like Gamora vs Nebula was completely forgettable.

How would the Avengers (with Thor as an exception) be in this? The Guardians are in a whole different galaxy. Also Gunn said on both Guardians movie that they are their own thing, which is definitely the case for the first movie.

I don't think we ever got confirmation what galaxy they are in.

No I don't think so but if anyone wants to know that the guardians are in a different galaxy.

I'm just looking at Gunns recent tweets and this caught my eye (for any farscape fans here), as if you couldn't love the guy any more.

So how much influence did Farscape have on you with GOTG?
- (Gunn) The most of any TV show, for sure.

I really hope they don't try to outdo (or out-random) the dance battle from the end of the first film. I know it was warmly accepted by fans of the film, but I thought it made the villain look like a rube. Plus, you can really only do that once.
